Journal

Hey everyone! So I've had my bone biopsy. It wasn't nearly as painful as I expected, but that may have been the very large dose of sedatives and painkillers I had. The lesion did come back as a malignancy of the lung.  Darn tumors decided to go exploring and got a little lost in my hip is all.  I met with the radiation oncologist and we decided on 10 treatments of radiation to the spot. Luckily, the side effects should (key word there) be pretty minimal. Because of where the lesion is and the path the radiation beam will be taking it should be missing all of my organs. Fatigue is to be expected, maybe some skin irritation, and maybe some pain since the area will get inflamed for a bit. I did the simulation this past Thursday. Basically, they put me into the appropriate position on a CT scanner and make sure I'm aligned just so. Once I'm aligned properly they give me a few little dot tattoos so they can keep me in the same alignment every treatment. Yes, the tattoos are real, permanent tattoos.  No, they will not fade or wash off. Yes, patients actually do get really really mad that their teeny tiny dots the size of the period at the end of this sentence are real and do not fade so the techs tell you about 10 times before they do them that they are real and do not fade. My first radiation treatment is May 23, my last will be June 6 as long as all goes well. That means I do have a chemo treatment almost smack in the middle of those radiation treatments which...well, it'll be fine, my mom's gonna be here. I also updated our MealTrain site, that will be a big help.

Anyway, that's all my updates for now!
