Newest Update

Journal entry by Lydia Geisendorfer

We have facts and info and a plan after meeting with the oncologists in Springfield, and Quincy. Here's what we know now!

This cancer is an immature teratoma which is generally considered curable! 🙌🏻

It's not a type of cancer that is genetic, so it isn’t something to be worried about family/kids sharing the gene for it.

It has a low risk of reoccurrence.

It's not related to any other types of cancers.
Since the mass was removed whole, she is considered cancer free.

The plan of action is chemotherapy to make sure in every way possible that there aren’t any stray or errant cancer cells remaining, and eliminate the chance of reoccurrence.

Allison’s chemo treatment will be a 9 week intravenous course, at Quincy Medical Group in Quincy, IL, set to begin Monday, March 8th.

She will receive infusions 5 days a week, for one week, then have two weeks to recuperate. This will be repeated twice more, for a total of 3 rounds. This plan should allow for treatment to be completed in plenty of time to allow Allison to heal and recuperate well before the baby arrives!

Please continue to be praying for Allison and Tyler and their kids as they head into this new phase of treatment. There are so many ways that you can support their family as they begin this very time and energy intensive treatment.
