Journal entry by Allison Holmer

This will my last journal entry! Why? Because I am FINALLY going home tomorrow morning! I will be discharged from the hospital and starting PT next week! I still can’t drive, and I don’t have a diagnosis... but I will start half days at work a week from today and I honestly cannot wait! I have a boat load of Dr appointments this coming week, and I don’t want to go all over kingdom come, I just want to be home, but.... I’m excited to get back to a schedule and keep my progress moving!! I’ll have 3 weeks of PT 3 times per week, but the dr. Was saying I should ease in and do half days at work... weird, since I literally sit at a desk all day, but she said sitting isn’t ideal for the old lady leg I have now. So she also prescribed me a fancy pants standing desk for work! WOOP!! I have always wanted one of those and when she started talking about it, my face must’ve said so too... haha. So that’s something fun to look forward to as well.
I’m not gonna lie, I’m nervous for the road ahead, there’s still a lot I can’t do, and I wasn’t really given an answer for it, so I don’t feel like I have closure at all, but I have such an amazing support system and I am determined to get back up and running better than I was before. My therapist said I’m not really walking funny, but Scott told me I look like I’m in pain or I’m constipated... (brutally honest there babe...) So I’m Nervous to go out in public, especially places I’ve been before and normal. I know no one will judge me, and I’ll be the first one to make a joke about myself, so no one will feel weird. I’m proud of my progress and am grateful for the experience I’ve had at this hospital. I never ever want to come back & I hope I never need to, but my therapy team was amazing and I don’t have enough good to say about them.
Scott and I will still look into a second opinion and I hopefully we will get an answer for what this is.
Thank you for all of your prayers and support through this.
I am so grateful to all of our friends and family members who came to visit & helped with Emma and meals. Both Scott and my parents were amazing and took extra time off work to make sure my sweet girl was ok. They ran her all over kingdom come and made sure to send me pictures and FaceTime and brought her up to the hospital to see me. That made me want to work harder to get back home!
