Allen’s Story

Site created on July 7, 2021

March 14, 2024 Allen is currently in critical condition in the ICU.  He had scar tissue from a previous surgery that caused a blockage. It turned into an infection and he went sepsis. He’s had surgeries to divide the blockage and treat the infection. They are concerned about his liver function and his bowel, but first step is getting rid of the infection.

On June 14, 2021 Allen was diagnosed with rectal cancer. We later found out that it had spread to his liver. He has been getting lots of tests and meeting with lots of doctors and hope to start chemo soon. We so appreciate all your prayers, messages and support! Thank you for visiting our site.

Journal entry by Amanda Ware

Another good week, he’s come so far in the two weeks since he’s been home from the hospital. He’s getting more independent and fixing some of his easier meals. He’s sleeping much better with the Benadryl.

We saw his surgeon on Tuesday and she was so impressed with his healing. She was on vacation when we were discharged. She said he was the first patient she asked about when she returned to work. She thinks he’ll need the wound vac another 3-4 weeks. And no need to see her again.

Home wound care was on Wednesday since we saw the surgeon on Tuesday. It’s amazing to see the incision healing from even last Friday. Wednesday night Allen went to Holden’s friendly soccer scrimmage in Savannah.

Thankfully for all your prayers and support!
