Journal entry by Stacia Whelan

Feels surreal that next weekend it will be one month without our dad. The three weeks he was in the ICU felt like years but the these last three weeks have passed in the blink of an eye. We are posting today to thank everyone for their generosity - physically and spiritually. We have felt everyone’s prayers, we have been accepting of everyone’s help and support, and we are grateful for the dollars that have come in.

Skylar and I created the GoFundMe to help cover our parents deductible as we knew our dads time in the hospital would span 2023 and 2024. But your generosity has supported us with other expenses like his celebration of life and cremation. We are forever in debt and will always be thankful.

February is HEART month 🫀❤️‍🩹🫶🏼 Of course it is. It’s a month that spotlights the importance of taking care of your cardiovascular health. Our dad’s legacy is going to live on in many things - his grandchildren, his kindness, his love for speed. But like we said at his celebration of life, we also want his legacy to live on by others taking accountability and living healthier lifestyles. Today, 2/2, is wear red day! If you notice someone out there in red, say a prayer for them as they probably have a loved one who has or passed from a heart condition.

Life is fleeting, we would give anything for another day with our dad. But we are encouraged knowing he’s healed and home in heaven ❤️🪽

Thank you again from the bottom of our broken but healing hearts.
