Here’s a quick update on my journey......
I finished my last AC treatment (AC is a kind of chemo)! Hooray! The doctors and nurses have told me that would be the worst hurdle in my treatment plan. I spent a lot of time in bed or on the couch. It took a lot out of me for sure. It felt like I had the flu x 10 (body aches, fatigue, nausea, head and back ache, dizzy, short or breath, you name it). Fortunately I did not miss any chemo, my oncologist reduced the dose of chemo each time. I did however land in the hospital with fevers with each treatment except for the last one. The source of the fever was never found which is typical for chemo patients. And here’s the best news.....my tumor has shrunk! It’s almost undetectable by touch!! Dr. Webster is very pleased with the progress as are we🙏

Next week I’ll be starting a new chemo called Taxol, I will have one treatment a week for 3 months. I’ve been doing some research on it and connecting with others through Facebook to learn more about it. So far from what I’ve heard Taxol is nothing compared to AC.....fingers crossed!

I have received such an outpouring of love and support from friends and family! There has been a cinnamon roll fundraiser (thank you Lizzie, Shellene and Bob!), gifts from my work family, team Alissa bracelet distribution (thank you Mikey, Danelle, Allison and Amber!), daily texts, cards, flowers, homemade meals, kitty snuggles, blankets/quilts, hugs, lucky armadillos, love and prayers. To my chemo warriors who have not missed a treatment (Jd, Mom, Megan, Amina) I couldn’t have done it without you! My awesome friend Angie from work has also set up a team to walk for the cause through the Soroptimist International of Albany, which will be held October 6th. If you’d like to join us the team is called “Team Alissa” and the website is https://sialbany.org/walk. I cannot thank everyone enough, and I’m so humbled and grateful for each and every one of you that has reached out to JD and I! We love you all❤️

Other than that I’m feeling great, staying positive and starting to look at life with new eyes. There is beauty everywhere and I intend to enjoy every bit of it for many years to come.
