From Mary Beth:

We had a great visit with Dr. Rao, the neurology doctor that Ali was referred to.  He listened intently to Ali and like so many doctors we have visited, was so surprised to see Ali outwardly healthy and happy.  This was not the young woman who he had just read about in her medical records. That young woman could have died or have had many more serious health issues.   We are always so happy to hear that Ali is doing well.
Dr Rao looked over all of Ali's medications, of which there were many, and helped Ali narrow them down.  Some he wanted her to wean off of and some they kept.  It felt good to have Dr. Rao look everything over and explain why she was taking them and why she should stop taking some.  He was patient, kind and took his time.
Ali was able to ask him about the remaining scabs on the top of her head. She was concerned that it had been a month and it still had not healed all the way.  He looked at it and said it looked clean, not infected and it just would take a little more time.  Ali was relieved.
Dr. Rao tested many of Ali's reflexes and muscle strength - excellent results.  Ali spoke to him about her dizziness.
He was very happy that Ali had already set up appointments for PT and OT.  He added a consult for a different neurologist who specializes in Traumatic Brain Injuries and a Speech therapist.  He also suggested adding a  psychiatrist to her recovery team to help Ali with the trauma and the anxiety that has been caused by the accident.
Today Ali went to our very special Abbie Haughtiness, a PT and a family friend.   Ali loves going to Abbie.  It is so relaxing.  Abbie seemingly is not working on traditional PT things but working more energetically. Whatever Abbie is doing, it is working and Ali loves her.
Since seeing the ophthalmologist last week and continued work with Abbie, Ali's vision is so much better.  Baby steps at a time!
Thank you all for your continued prayers, good thoughts and kind words.  Ali soaks them all in and it really helps with her recovery!
