Alice’s Story

Site created on August 28, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

While on vacation in August, Alice experienced some strange symptoms. When we got home our pediatrician ordered some tests - and during those we discovered that she had a tumor in her left kidney. Two days later on Friday, August 24th she had her left kidney removed as well as the surrounding lymph nodes.

We are praising God for his faithfulness. The tumor was removed in tact, no additional tumors were found, and the lymph nodes tested negative for cancer cells. Some follow up tests showed her cancer to be more aggressive than first thought, so she had 6 rounds of radiation in October and her chemo plan was bumped up to include a third drug and extend for 9 more weeks. But all of her Drs are very hopeful that her protocol will get rid of the cancer for good.

Alice began chemo on Sept 6th, and is due to finish around late March 2019. Updates will be shared on this site for those of you checking in.

If you are interested in providing a meal, please contact Elizabeth Goedecke or go the "Support Link" area under "Ways To Help" on this site for the link to our care calendar.

Most of all - please pray for us. For complete healing for Alice and strength and stamina for the rest of our family. Thank you for loving us!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Marissa Bondurant

Friends - I wanted to update you on all the things I wrote about last month… please join us in praising God for his continued faithfulness!

1. Alice’s cardiology appointment went amazing! The hole in her heart is only 1/4 the size it was last year! 🙌🏻

2. Claire raised over $16,400 - exceeding her goal! 🙌🏻

3. Lydia’s ultrasound showed that her mass is GONE. Y’all! The doctors are shaking their heads in wonderment. Her mass has baffled her team for the last 18 months… never quite behaving the way the text books and studies predicted that it should. But today I got the official call from her surgeon verifying  what I already heard from the radiologist and her pediatrician… that no one can find the mass. Once again God has meticulously knitted our girls together and tenderly taken care of them.

I hope you are encouraged today as you hear these answers to your prayers. Thank you for interceding on behalf of our family these past three years. May all of this draw your heart closer to the Lord and increase your faith in the God who made you, loves you and hears you.

love, marissa
