Hi friends an family! Sorry that’s it’s been a while since you have received an update on here. If you are friends with Alex on Facebook you know that she has been keeping everyone updated on there.
There have been several changes over the last few weeks. Alex was moved to a rehabilitation center where she continued to get support from her tracheotomy tube along with lots of physical and occupational therapy. A lot of walking sessions around the floor utilizing a walker and help from the therapists. All the while she still had the one chest tube to help support the expansion and healing.
As of just a couple of days ago, the chest tube was removed! And drum roll…. Her tracheotomy tube was removed as well!! The progress she has made is incredible and we are so happy she continues down a positive path of recovery.
Although Alex no longer has the tracheotomy tube, she is still learning to walk again and be self sufficient so the next move will be to a different rehab center until she is ready to go home. We will continue to update on how things are going (in a more timely manner) so you can stay tuned in.
