Journal entry by Betsy Raygor

The Baptism went well. Zoey's dress was made out of my wedding dress I married her Grandpa in heaven in and she looked like a princess in it. I will attach pictures in the gallery. Alan made it through the festivities and meal etc. without taking a nap the entire day. On the drive home he said "Today was a great day." Next stop - wedding tomorrow.

Monday and Tuesday were just not great days (for either of us) but we know they happen and we get through them. Probably one of his worst speech therapy sessions but the therapist was making his brain work harder by naming as many types of things as he could, like flowers, drinks, etc. He likes to always know the answers which if you know Alan should not come as a surprise. Wednesday was his first session at EA Therapeutics. We joined his sister for lunch at The Bear's Den and had our favorite turkey cran sandwich (without onions) which is to die for. Thank you Chris! ❤️ I convinced Alan to leave the wheelchair in the car and he walked into the bar/restaurant with his cane and me by his side. People stared but he didn't seem to notice.

We were met at home by our friend Jim H. who brought pizza, candy bars and pop! We are still enjoying leftovers. 👍 Was so good to visit. Forgot to get a pic with him and Alan; ugh! Jim said Alan was doing much better than what Jim had expected!

Thursday was a no shower, don't leave the house and watch a series on Netflix kind of day. My grandson Zack and his robotic's team from Rochester are in World competition in Houston, Texas right now so we've been streaming that and watching! Currently their rank is 10 out of 77 teams. So exciting!!!

Today we had Alan's second therapy with the Neubie electrical system at 9:00 and they worked his arm, shoulder and leg while stretching and exercising. We both think this is exactly what he needs on his road to recovery. I read 90% of users think it helps after the first session. This is not acupuncture. It currently is the most advanced e-stim therapy in the PT market in optimizing neurological function. Alan got a good workout today. On the drive there when I was parking, out of Alan's mouth comes "I think I am a super model." And then he let out that smirky little laugh of his. 🥰  He and another patient waiting in the lobby were giving each other thumb's up. Alan of course is striking up conversations. I would venture to say he's in pretty good shape compared to many being treated.

I've noticed, although numbers and  time are still the weakest links in his cognitive and speech development, Alan is starting to get some things spot on some of the time. At 8:59 this morning he looked at the clock in the lobby and said there was a minute left until his appointment!  🥳 He also referred to something in terms of months (I think it was) and self corrected himself with the word minutes which was the correct standard of measurement in what he was referring to. He's getting better with name recall too and stated our friends Rich and Feifei work so hard when we drove by their house today! He's laughing now watching their daughter on a Facebook video. 😊 I still feel like we are playing charade's throughout some of our conversations but like Alan says almost daily "It's getting a little better every day." I firmly believe it's a combination of his hard work and your prayers. Thank you!
