Aj. (Anton)’s Story

Site created on October 5, 2023

Mid September AJ had what we thought was a cold and then the tummy flu… took to doc. Got zofran and went home. Few days pass symptoms got better but then became very tired and either hot or ice cold sweats and no fever….

Took to his primary who said he noticed a bad murmur and go to children’s. So I took him to Minneapolis childrens er where we met with dad, uncle and grandma.they Ran tests that determined he was dehydrated, Liver and kidneys were failing and was in heart failure.

Admitted to cardiac icu Wednesday sept 27th….

Thursday had picc line placed and started to eat and drink. Kidneys and liver got better…

Early October 1st around 350 am we were still up playing and talking and suddenly he got on his knees and faced the bathroom and said Momma I need to throw up. I need bathroom… I go to him and he sits and starts to puke. Nurse gives Iv meds and we start to clean him up.

As I’m cleaning…. She’s calling for help and I’m not knowing…. My son is grey, blood pressure of only 50 and pulse almost gone.

Docs rush in and he is intubated and central lines placed in each groin.

He is sedated even though it’s hard to keep him down. Monday late morning he goes to the or because heart dropping. Gets placed on an ECMO machine so his heart can rest as It was only working at 17%.

Oct 5, Feeding tube placed. Monday oct 9th most likely surgery for Berlin cardiac machine.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Sara briggs

Well we hit day 200 today. Still blows my mind. Holly one of his main providers just left from her morning visit. Aj is going to get a 2nd dose of furosemide via Iv because he hasn’t been peeing like he needs to and is a little puffy, they will get lab work early because he was having irregular heart beats over night so he will probably need magnesium too. Because he has been so sweaty after the gym and tired the past week , and therapy informed her, that she is going to have his echo done tomorrow and will probably increase his Berlin help….  That’s the newest update. The not letting me
Leave continues. Unless his dad is here. Makes things very hard.
So we wait til his echo tomorrow to see what the changes to his heart are.  Still we pray for a ❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

Oh and I don’t think I told you he had an eeg for some random staring and rhythmic head tilt and blinking. He did none during the test and was completely normal
