Aija’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website for our wonderful mother, Aija Brugman. We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. 

A little over a week ago, Aija was not feeling well, so she went to get checked out at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Unfortunately the diagnosis for Aija is Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.  Our hope at this time is that she can leave St. Vincent's in the next few days after which she will be receiving hospice care. We will provide updates on Aija's care as often as we can. We appreciate your support, words of hope, prayers and any joyful song that you can sing that we are sure will reach her soul!

Thank you for the outpouring of support from friends and family near and far. The stories and memories you share of Aija bring us all greater piece as we mourn her passing.

Services for Aija will be as follows:

Visitation will be Friday, October 6 from 5 pm to 7:30 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave., and the Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 7 at 10 am at the Indianapolis Latvian Community Center, 1008 W. 64th St. Interment at Floral Park Cemetery, then a luncheon at the Indianapolis Latvian Community Center, will immediately follow the service.
