Journal entry by Agnes Fusco

Yesterday and today I’ve been having a lupus flare up. It’s hard to explain what it’s like. Other than being tired and sleeping a lot because the energy has been drained from your body there is pain. If you’ve ever broken a bone or had a really bad sprain and the slightest bit of pressure makes you feel like you’re gonna damage it more then you know what lupus feels like. Sometimes it’s just in one area and sometimes it’s all over. This time it’s just in my hands and arms and it was a little less extreme then it normally is. That means I didn’t feel like I couldn’t hold a pen because of the pain. Yes, it gets that bad. So, I’ve just been doing lots of self care. Napping and resting. I get a rash on my face during these flare ups called a butterfly rash and Mel tries to cheer me up by calling me her beautiful little butterfly. Other than that all is good today. Listening to a new book while I sleep. The narrator has a nice even tone so even though the content may not be something you want to sleep to I can easily zone out just on his voice and sleep. If you guys are interested the book is called LORE Wicked Mortals by Aaron Mahnke. I use my LIBBY app and borrow it from my local library right from my phone. If you like to read or listen, try that app but you need a library card. Sending love and hugs-Agnes
