Ady’s Story

Site created on July 21, 2019

Four Words.  Four words that no parent wants to hear.  Four words that absolutely will turn your world upside down.  Four words. Your baby has Cancer.   Ady had started complaining of a belly ache around June 30th.  She also was running a low grade temp.  If any of you know Ady, she is not the one to complain.  We knew something wasn't right.  I took her to the doctor, with the typical diagnosis (oh, she must have a virus), and sent home.  A week later she was still having the same symptoms, and a decreased appetite.   I took her in again.  This time, they thought it was constipation and sent us home with Miralax.   Two days later, I went back in.  Frustrated and wanting answers, we were sent to the ER.   Little did we know, our lives were about to change.  They did a MRI and found the tumor.  We were transported by Ambulance to the Children's Hospital. Ady was diagnosed with High Risk Advanced Neuroblastoma.  The tumor is attached to her Adrenal gland above her kidney and is an intimidating 4+ inches long. It basically fills up her belly.  It has wrapped around her spine.  She has a couple more tumors throughout her little body.  Unfortunately it has spread to her Bone Marrow. We have a long journey ahead.  We are looking at least 6 months of Chemotherapy, Surgery, Immune Boosting Treatments, and Bone Marrow Transplants.    It's hard to imagine and comprehend this is happening to a 2.5 year old.   Thank you for your support and prayers for our family.  We appreciate it more than you know!  💝💝💝

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lindsay Clemens

Hello everyone!  Sorry that it has been a while.  Ady's first Bone marrow transplant was tough.  Tough on her, tough on me, tough on our family.  I really did not want to share what we were experiencing.  Honestly, I wish I could un see most of it.  Watching your baby have to go through this is extremely difficult and I hope none of you have to experience anything like this.

That being said, we are back at Children's for bone marrow transplant #2.  She'll get intense Chemo starting today.  5 days of 3 different chemo drugs that will more than likely affect her kidneys, liver, and hearing.  She will probably develop mucositis again, as she had severe mucositis with #1.  Poor baby had GI tract sores from her mouth to tush.

While I will try and keep updating, if you dont hear much just know we are trying to just push through this.  Ady is very strong.  And while this will knock her down, she will get through it and be stronger because of it.  I think we all will.
