Journal entry by Chinara Gomes

It’s been a while.., today I woke up to seeing Adam has written something 😊. So, I’ll share that.   I’ll say Adam has been taking a very healthy approach on life, getting active, eating mainly plant based and is feeling good.  He’s lost a ton of weight and I’ve even caught him shopping for new clothes! lol.
Thank you all for continuing to think of, pray for, reach out to our family. Your Love, prayers and support really have made such a difference.
From Adam:

June 22, 2006 I was in  a motorcycle accident traveling 130+MPH, I was in the ICU of Emanuel Hospital terrified for my life and or ability to walk.  Spending my 21st birthday by being instructed by a neurosurgeon  “stay as still as possible because your C1 vertebrae in tour neck has been broken  in two places but it’s gonna be all right ok bud”

I know fear is not of God, however I was so terrified that it was difficult to even breath being that I was attempting to freeze every motion of my body.

At one point during my stay in ICU my boxing and conditioning coach Porsche which was also like an adopted mother in faith gave me these prayer stones. My take away was always be LISTENING for God’s voice, TRUST God in every situation, and most importantly have PEACE in where he has placed you.

Many of you may know, and some of you don’t although May 6th 2021 was one of the worst days of my life the day I suddenly no longer felt invincible. Hearing my oncologist say “The Mass on your brain is Glioblastoma brain cancer” he went on to say it’s one of the most common types of brain cancer. My next thought was great, thinking of it as I would an ACL tear and it being one of the most common sports injuries which is now a highly successful and repairable  surgery  I was initially optimistic, although Dr T went on saying unfortunately it’s also the most aggressive forms of brain cancer and at this point it’s medically incurable, and where it is located on your brain we can’t surgically remove it without killing you. It was as if an ELEPHANT sat directly on my chest.

Since then I have looked at life a bit differently believe it or not, the CRAZIEST thing is in a way it’s was a blessing and tuning point in my life. Without having a consuming focus on success and financial gain, I am no longer a workaholic. Instead I’m acting as the husband, father and step father I always should’ve been which has resulted in my wife and I now having an amazing marriage, love, and bond stronger than ever before. And now being able to spend time daily with my daughters has been a tremendous blessing, also the boys and I have finally developed a truly amazing relationship.

I hope and pray that you all have an amazing day. Always remember tomorrow isn’t promised so make today count!
