Journal

Hi everyone.  It has been a minute since we have updated on here, but things have been extremely busy around her.  Adam came home much earlier than expected, because as far as his device and numbers, he was doing well.  Still in a lot of pain and having difficulty doing things, but everything from the surgery and device standpoint, as well as OT and PT, he was ready to come home.  Since he has been home, he has been recovering well.  Sometimes he tries to do too much and has to be reminded that he is less than 4 weeks off of an open heart surgery.  For Easton's birthday he was able to sit at the park and watch the kids, and then do 2 holes of mini golf with Easton, which was nice.  That day wore him out for sure!  He is still unable to drive or overall exert much energy, but that will change over the coming months.  We are SO happy to have him home.  It has been an adjustment for everyone, and will continue to be.  Some days I am just a straight taxi driver for everyone to get where they need to go, and I don't even see the house and am away from the house for hours when my driving time is totaled for the day :)   The hardest part for Adam has obviously been going through this surgery and learning to deal with a new lifestyle and device that is not always easy to conceal or to have.  I know this has been a difficult journey for him.  The hardest part as a family unit is getting everyone where they need to be while figuring out who goes where, what food and snacks to pack vs what meals we need to eat on the road, and making sure that I am present at everything I can be.  This week, with the help of lots of people, we are managing a total of 6 practices, 2 picture days for soccer, 10 games (volleyball, basketball, baseball and soccer), and 5 doctor appointments. I will only have to miss one of Emersons soccer games and one of Emmaline's practices - and the game I can't be at, Adam gets to go to!  This will be his first game since surgery, and I know he is excited to see Emerson play soccer.  Today he gets to take Easton to see a movie with Parker and his dad, and his friend Brayden, and then will get to come to Easton's birthday party (it has been fun getting ready for a birthday party on top of all of this!!), so hopefully that won't be too much for him today since it involves a lot of sitting and just chilling.  Overall, his recovery is going in the right direction, and we pray that we continue to see improvement daily, and that within a few months, he is able to get up, throw on his battery packs, and go out and about for a few hours or for the day!

Keep the prayers coming for Adam, for his pain to subside (still in substantial pain daily), for his wound to heal, for our schedules to flow with games/appointments/etc, and for our family overall going through this journey.  When people ask me "How are you", I go back and forth deciding it is easier just to say "Good good!" or if I should be honest and say some moments are good and others we are falling to pieces.  Sometimes I just look at them so long and start to kind of laugh that they know I am not sure what to say to them :)  I appreciate everyone always asking though - just be prepared for me to not know what to say to you haha.  The song "Truth be Told" by Matthew West is the theme song over here!
