Abby’s Story

Site created on September 17, 2017

On July 29th, 2017, I was diagnosed with uterine cancer.  I had major surgery to remove as much cancer as possible on September 1st and am still recovering from this.  On September 14th,  I had my post op appointment.  My cancer is at Stage 4 which is probably not the best news you can get with cancer.  The good news is that my tumor is at a grade 1.  This means that it is not aggressive.  Stage 4 meaning that geographically, it has spread outside the uterus to my bladder.  I have a tough fight ahead of me as I will start chemotherapy, radiation, and back to chemotherapy for the next 7-8 months.  I’m up to the task and will do what I need to do✊🏽❤️I’m a fighter ❤️

Thank you to some of the Hawaii posse for flying in for my surgery on September 1st. They made it there to Northwestern before I did....Filipino time I was almost late for surgery! 😍 Adding their pic to the photo gallery.

I’d like to start of this blog that my skin is under control as far as my psoriasis. Tom has a system down as far as these ointments and timing my baths before the cold wraps.
Now as far as my cancer. I had kidney surgery last week and Urology was not able drain my left kidney and the stents currently inside will no longer work. Unfortunately, a CT scan showed some growth in a mass on top of the vaginal area. This mass is the culprit of pressing against the ureter causing me once again to lose kidney function. The solution? A nephrostomy bag. 😩😢😩😢😩
I’m currently at Northwestern to have this bag put in. I know, right??? What else is going to happen??
Okay…I’ll check back in after my bag is put in.
