Quick Update: After waiting for all of the “red tape” to be processed, we heard from Aaron’s doctor’s office today. Radiation is not recommended for the new area of concern because it was part of the treatment field in his previous rounds. The additional chemotherapy has been approved by insurance, so he will begin that new regimen, in addition to his current treatment, beginning Monday, January 1, 2024. Happy New Year!!
In other news…. I (Leah) am currently in Lincoln, NE helping to care for Aaron’s dad, whose health continues to decline. Aaron’s sister, Brenda, has been caring for Dad with the help of hospice for more than a year. His decline has progressed to the point of needing more than she can provide with the help of home hospice nurses. So, I am here to bridge the gap while we wait about a possible hospice home placement. (If you happen to be in the Lincoln area, I’d love to see you if we can work it out!)
Thank you for praying about the following
- that Aaron will experience minimal side effects from the additional chemo, and will stay healthy otherwise
- that Aaron will be able to continue to work and do all of the other things he enjoys without disruption
- that Aaron’s dad will remain as comfortable as possible in his final days
- that the needed respite for his sister Brenda will be quickly available
- that our tender and merciful Lord will continue to make himself known to us through his spirit and through his people
