Hello Friends and Family,

Miss you!

It's wonderful having Aaron home.

What a whirlwind of a week it has been.  The new normal is very, very busy.  I thought things would be more manageable, but there's a lot going on!  No complaints, it's all good!

Since getting released, Aaron has had 6 outpatient appointments and OT/PT has not started yet.  This is quite frustrating for him.  OT (Occupational Therapy) has to evaluate him in order for him to drive and eventually return to work.  His case is considered a "major case".   Assigned to him, he has 2 nurse case managers,  an adjuster, and care coordinator.  We are on first name basis.  "It's Missy calling about Aaron".   We are loosely friends, I think.   It makes me wonder what happens to those souls who don't have an advocate or are unable to advocate for themselves.  For those of you who have been there, this is tricky business.

Aaron had speech/cognitive therapy on Monday.  The therapist was talking with him about helping out at home (as therapy).  So she said, "you shouldn't be carrying laundry up and down the stairs, but Missy could bring the laundry to you to fold".   My jaw hit the floor.  He can fold????  Who knew??? The magic of getting hit by a dump truck...he has folded laundry twice.   Winner, winner.  :)

Next week, OT begins.

Next big win will be getting the wound vacuum removed.  He is attached to this machine 24/7. It's his constant companion.  Aaron has a sizable incision from his mid/upper chest to lower abdomen.  When  his surgeons removed a section of his colon on 9/11, they needed to keep the incision open in order to prevent him from becoming septic.   The open wound has been  healing over the past 7 weeks.   In outpatient, his wound is packed and changed twice a week at HCMC and attached to a wound vacuum.  Our guy is healing wonderfully and on Monday he will find out how much longer he will need to be attached to the vacuum.   Medical stuff amazes me....some person thought, let's try attaching a vacuum to a wound to speed recovery.  Just amazing.

Thank you for your continued prayers.

Blessing to you and yours,

Missy and Aaron  ❤️
