Onyx Redman

Onyx Michael Redman, precious son to Kris and Morgan, little brother to Jade, was admitted to Boston Children's Hospital on Friday, February 12th, after a day that began with some alarming symptoms for an almost five month old baby.  Morgan first took him to a doctor in Portland, was sent to the emergency room, and within hours Onyx was transported to Boston after a tumor was discovered in his brain at the base of his skull.  The tumor was 6-7 cm (that's about 2.5 inches) and immediate surgery was his best hope.  By late afternoon on Saturday, Onyx was being prepped for surgery to be performed by Dr. Lisa Baird, Director of Neurosurgical Oncology at BCH. Surgery took many hours until 2 am on Sunday morning (Valentine's Day).  Onyx's tumor was largely removed, more than was originally believed could be removed, but some tumor on his brain stem remains. Onyx has a long road ahead of him but there is HOPE. As his health journey continues, this site will allow Morgan and Kris to update everyone all at once while allowing friends and family to offers words of encouragement!

Update: Onyx has been diagnosed with AT/RT (Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor) and once he has recovered sufficiently from surgery, will begin chemotherapy. His parents will be spending significant time in Boston away from their home and from work. Please help ease their financial burden by donating to Onyx's GoFundMe account at:
