Donor Pledges $25,000 Matching Gift to CaringBridge

Eagan, Minn. (April 22, 2013) —

Financial support to CaringBridge, the caring social network, allows patients around the world to share their story and feel love and support from others. A generous family, who wishes to remain anonymous, has gifted $25,000 to inspire people to support CaringBridge’s mission. Gifts will be matched dollar for dollar until the $25,000 threshold is met.

CaringBridge provides a private, protected space for people coping with illness like Kristen Sayers to connect and share with loved ones. At 32, Sayers found herself gearing up for a fight against breast cancer. It was not a journey she endured by herself. Sayers started a CaringBridge Site to engage friends, family and coworkers with her on the journey.

“The words of love and inspiration were so helpful, lifting me up in a time of need, reminding me that I had an army of people behind me, fighting this disease with me,” said Sayers. “I certainly never felt alone, but instead incredibly loved.”

After six rounds of chemotherapy and a bilateral mastectomy, Sayers was pronounced cancer free. She still updates her site with milestones of her recovery. “This is so helpful for friends and family who are not close by but want to stay informed,” she said.

Donations are critical to keeping CaringBridge available to simplify communication during a health challenge.

“We are grateful for donors who understand the power of connection and ensure families receive the love, hope and compassion they need,” said Carolyn Egeberg, Vice President of Development, CaringBridge.
