Hi Colleen, You probably don't remember me but I've seen you a few times at the clinic and at some KidStrong functions. I've been reading you journal and you are a very strong person. My son Riley has Leukemia and we go to the clinic often and he loves playing with all the games that you provide and we greatly appreciate all you do. In your post you had said something about Chemo angles. I have never heard about that could you tell me what they do. I will continue to pray for you and your family and thanks for all you do for all the other cancer kids and FAMILIES.

Thinking of you sweet Garrett. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't think about you. You are still an inspiration to so many people. I hope that one day I will be as brave as you. I say a prayer for you every day, but I know that God is taking good care of you. I also pray for your family because they miss you so very much. Hi Colleen and family,

I just wanted to let you know I've been thinking of you and Garrett lately. I saw the news of the Thanksgiving dinner and wanted to thank you for all that you do for the kids. It would make Garrett smile.
Skiing sounds like fun! You may as well get some more use out of those snow pants--you won't get to wear them here!
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

We caught the news story about the Thanksgiving dinner that Garrett's Kidstrong Foundation did for the kids and their families at Dell Children's Hospital and it was very moving and touching to see what you have been able to accomplish and keep accomplishing. Garrett I'm sure, is very proud of his mother and for what all she's doing in his memory and for all the other children going through the same type of treatments.

Way to go!!! Keep it up!

Happy Labor Day, Burnham Family!

I have just had an email from my cousin, Jennifer, who has two little boys. Liam, a new age five, called it "Pregnancy Day," so they have had a discussion of the various meanings of "labor" this morning, before heading out to the parade.

I hope, that whatever plans you have for today, you have a positive day, full of good memories of Garrett and of the hope of heaven.

Grace, peace, love, and all good,

~Colette

Collect For Labor Day:

Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

I still remember Garrett beneath the Jesus and the Children stained glass window.

Happy Birthday sweet Garrett,

I thought about you all day today. Just a few days ago, my gerber started to bloom for the first time this year. It sprouted 3 beautiful flowers in honor of your birthday. Your mom says it is rare to have 3 flowers out at once, but I believe it bloomed special just for you because they were your favorites and because you are so special.

Keep watch over your mom like I know you do. She loves you so much. You must be so proud that she works so hard to help so many other kids just like you would have done if you were here. Thank you for sharing your dream with us. You and your family will always be an inspiration.

We miss you Garrett.

Happy Birthday

Valentines...... To Heaven

This Valentine is not of the ordinary kind,
Its still filled with love...and blessings inside;
But mine has to be sent on the wings of love...
You see its destination is the Heavens above.

Its not being sent to my parents so dear,
For they are still with me each day of the year;
Its being sent to my child...who left earth so soon,
Who's now in the Heavens with the stars and the moon.

The message is the same as your valentine,
"I love you...my sweet precious child of mine;
My love is still deeper than the ocean is blue,
And its sent with hugs and kisses...from me to you."

"I know you are with me each and every day,
You listen as I talk to you...and hear what I say;
For that is one thing that disease cannot do...
...you'll always be apart of me...and me a part of you."

"I know God did not give you the awful disease,
Thank Him for His comfort He gives me...would you please?
I dont know what I would do without His undying love...
Sent to bereaved parents from the Heavens above."

"I know you are in the best of care,
But it's so hard for us left on earth to bear;
Could you put in a request from us left behind...
For God to send the knowledge..so a cure we can find."

"So that no other family has to go through this pain,
Our lives without you will never be the same;
When I get lonely I will look to the sky at night...
And see you shining down your big bright light."

Wishing you a blessed Christmas. Thanks for sharing your Christmas ski trip story. I guess since we get snow all the time in the winter it isn't as exciting for us:) We were in Seattle visiting our middle son a few weeks ago and it snowed and the children in his neighbor hood played for hours and hours in it, it was fun to see them so excited over snow:)

Missing Garrett a lot tonight for some reason. I have his picture (the one with Jacob and the ferret) up by my desk in college. Reminds me what I'm working for- and it's hard to complain about anything bad, because what's as bad as being a kid and having cancer or having someone you love go through it? He was so lucky to have you for a mom. Let me know if there's any KidStrong stuff I can do from afar- maybe I can start a Durham chapter :). Love, Allie

I always see a picture and automatically think, That was before Cancer or after cancer.

I was picking through Korey's room just the other day and thinking of you while I was doing it and how hard it must be to go into Garrett's room. I am so sorry for all the pain you must go through every single day. My heart as always, goes out to you and your family.

Thank you for sharing Garrett's beautiful dream with our family and so many others.

Keeping you all always in my heart and my thoughts and my prayers.

Wishing you happy in your day,
bre

Just wanted to sign-in and let you know that I still have Garrett's page bookmarked and check in from time to time. I pray that Caleigh has adjusted well to the new school year by now and Kyle is continuing to do great with his diet. That is awesome! My 5 year old is just starting his first Tiny Mite season and loving it. I will continue to hold your family up in prayer as you make your way through this journey without your sweet Garrett. I know he must be so proud of Kid Strong and all that you are doing for other children fighting the same battle as he did so heroically.
God Bless!

Wow, I got chills reading your 6/9 entry. Especially the part about reading Garrett the joke and making him laugh. I am glad that my little jokes made him smile. It gave me chills to read that. I truly wish that I could have met Garrett (and you) in person. He will always holds a special part of my heart.

Remember how you alway said Garrett was your hero. Well I think that Garrett sees all that you are doing to help others and he is up in heaven wearing a little pin that says "My mom is my hero!" with a HUGE smile on his face.

You are an amazing woman!!!!!!

Love,

You have got to be one of the most amazing people in the world. Gazillions of people don't believe in psychic abilities and stuff like that and that makes me so sad. Hello from Bowling Green, Kentucky. My name is Lenora. I have visited Garrett's site many many times. I'm so glad that you go to another John Edward seminar. I think what he does is a blessing to so many people. I remember when you went the first time. That Garrett of your's had plans for you at that reading... not to be read, but to help others! What a great feeling you must have had to be a part of that for those greiving parents. I will continue to check on you and your family often. Good luck with your organization. I'll pray for it's success. God bless!

I am so sorry about my previous entry as I worded it incorrectly and didn't catch it until after I had submitted it. Where I worded the part about give Garrett lots of hugs and kisses I meant to say when you are dreaming about him or thinking about him. Please forgive me. Writing has never been one of my strong suits. Take care and wishing the best for you and your family.

Hi there,
I just read your latest journal entry and I feel your pain and anguish. I agree with you on the country music, especially the song "One more day". The first time I heard that I was at work and just balled. My 15, soon to be 16 year old son was diagnosed last July with ARMS - Stage III. He is our only son and he will soon be finishing treatment. I am so happy and scared that this day will soon be here. Happy that his pain and suffering will end but scared because we don't know if the cancer is gone and will remain gone.

Your son sounds like a tremendous child. The best thing that has helped me this past year is to focus on the positive things and try to ward off any negative thoughts or feelings because it is too easy to get sucked into a black hole. Give Garrett lots of hugs and kisses.

God Bless,
Tami Hendrickson

Colleen,
Thank you for sharing your true feelings, we are "here" and will always be here for you. I watched a movie I taped way before Christmas last night and in it someone said "when a loved one dies so does a piece of your heart" I truly believe that. I hope Garrett will send you signs that he is okay. You are daily in our prayers, even the days we don't sign in!:)
Take gentle care.
Love and hugs,

Hi Colleen,
Just stopping by to say I am thinking about you and your family. Caleigh is precious, thanks for sharing her picture with us. I would love to see a picture of Kyle when you get a chance. You know how much photos mean to me. Whenever I pull up Garrett's website and see those beautiful eyes looking straight back at me, I am right back behind the camera on the day that we took those portraits. He was sooo sweet, your whole family was wonderful to work with. I concider that one of my sweetest shoots, not because Garrett was sick, but because the whole family was so aware of the importance of family relationships. Kyle and Caleigh were so easy to capture. And Garrett, after very little instruction from me, he took over and naturally posed himself around you, Darrell, and his brother and sister, so all I had to do was shoot and make sure that I didn't make a mistake or miss anything that he was communicating through his eyes and his actions that day. I truly believe he was aware of how much love was so naturally coming through him and he wanted those emotions recorded forever. I'll never forget that very special day that I got to know Garrett and his sweet family.
