HI Everyone. We have been so busy since my last post. School has started with a bang!!!!!! Kaitlyn is doing 8 courses this year for 6th grade, she takes Vocabulary, Bible, Language, Health, Math, Science, & History. And she is doing a Thomas Kinkaid Art program. She loves to draw, especially animals. She has also found the art of making pot holders on the loom with the old pieces of socks or stockings. She loves it. She has made about 15 in the last two weeks. Not counting that she is very involved in 4-H and takes piano lessons each week. Andrew is taking as a Senior, English 4 CP, Chemistry, Health, Keyboarding/Computer Applications and also getting dual credit for 4 college courses, History 101, History 102, History 112, & Political Science 201. He has had all the credits in math and Spanish he needs. He will have 30 credits at graduation and he only needed 24 to graduate. Plus, he will get to start college next August as a Sophomore instead of a Freshman. Not bad, really.
*** Kaitlyn has been doing extremely well with the new method of treatment. Thank the LORD!!! She is now doing all the prep work, sticking herself and taking out the needles herself. I can already tell a difference in how she feels and looks from doing this each week compared to every 4 weeks. She will have surgery on Monday, September 12, 2005 to have her port removed. She is looking forward to having this taken out, just not to the surgery required to remove it. She will be in the day surgery of Palmetto - Richland Memorial Hospital. They are having a lot of reconstruction at the hospital, so the floor and room numbers are messed up. The Day Hospital phone number is 803-434-7431. We have to be there at 6am that morning and the surgery is scheduled for 8am. We hope to be home by 5pm that afternoon, unless they decide to keep her for some reason.
I hope this finds you each doing well and we love and appreciate you all. It sometimes is so hard to know that people who we do not know except by e-mail, regular mail or just thru putting this update, can care about us and uplift us in prayer. We appreciate all the mail and especially the prayers. Thank you for being such wonderful, loving and caring people.

Hugs, Love & Prayers,

HI everyone. Sorry it has been so long since our last post. We have finally started the NEW TREATMENT!!!!
Y E A H !!!!!! It has been going well, with some minor problems. We have done the last two weeks of treatments at home and by ourselves. Kaitlyn stuck herelf last night for the first time and did really well. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue with this. We are wanting this to work for so many reasons.. The main one being she wants to have her port removed. Please just keep praying that this will all work out the way that God wants it to.
Both, Andrew and Kaitlyn will start school tomorrow. Andrew as a SENIOR at his regular public school and Kaitlyn as a 6th grader as a homeschooler. Please pray for us during this school year as well. Andrew is taking 4 college courses this year along with his regular Senior schedule and will need the extra prayers (so will his Mother!!hahaha) and Kaitlyn and I need prayers for understanding math -fractions, percents and decimals especially!!!
We hope this finds each of you doing well and we will continue to pray for each of you. Thank you again to all who have been sending the maps and post cards. We all enjoy looking at them and seeing what other places look like. Thank you again for all your concern and prayers.

Love and Hugs,

The Moseleys

Hi Everyone. We have had quite a month. We are still not able to start with the new treatment method of Sub Q for Kaitlyn. We are still in the fight. It has been so much red tape involved, it is almost unreal. We are tentatively scheduled to be at Duke University on July 14 & 15, 2005 to get started and trained. But the hold up may be that I found on Thursday that our insurance does not have this doctor in the network. Ugh!!! I am waiting to hear from the doctor and the insurance company on what is or is not workable. Please keep us in your prayers for all of this to get straightened out.
School is over for both of our Munchkins. Y E A H !!!!!!
Andrew is now a S E N I O R!!! and Kaitlyn is now a 6th grader. Time seems to FLY.
We are getting ready for the Immune Deficiency Foundation National Conference in Orlando, Florida June 23-26. We are all going. This is our first time to a National, we have always attended and worked at the Family Retreats. So we are all excited to see how the National is.
Kaitlyn has her next treatment on Wednesday, June 22, the day before we leave for Florida. So we will be rushed and praying that she is not sick with the treatment.
And now for EVERYONE who has responded to Kaitlyn's request. T H A N K Y O U!!! We have all enjoyed seeing, reading and getting the many postcards, maps and stamps. Please keep sending them. She is loving it!!!
Please keep us all in your prayers, we really appreciate them.
OH and the most important news - Kaitlyn got baptized on Sunday, May 22. It was a great day!!!!!!!!!!!

All our love & Many Prayers,

The Moseley Clan

Hi again everyone!!!! We had our last treatment on Tuesday, April 26th. Things went well. Her port-a-cath worked. YEAH!!! We were to start with a new method of treatment on this Thursday, May 5th, but that has been postponed for at least a month if not longer. Please keep this in your prayers for us. It will be so much better and easier for Kaitlyn. We are jsut getting so frustrated at having it set up and then having it fall thru and then being rescheduled.
Kaitlyn has a request. She would like to get maps, postcards, magnets and any other small thing from each state and country that she can. Maps and postcards mainly. Nothing fancy or expensive, the maps like you get at state border rest areas or airports or motels from any area would be good. We thank you in advance for these items. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The rest of us are doing okay, we are all ready for school to be out for the summer. Staying tired and keeping way too busy. We thank you again for all your thoughts, prayer, and happy mail. We appreciate you all and hope that everyone is doing well. Please sign our guestbook.

Love, hugs, & prayers,

Hi Everyone!!! We have some exciting news. Kailtyn will have her next regular treatment on Tuesday, April 26th and then on May 5th we START our new method of treatment!!! Please keep this in your prayers. We are already having some problems with the location site kinda bulking on us. If she starts this new treatment, she will be able to get her infusions at home, she will get a small dose twice a week - instead of having to go and be at the hospital for a full day and get a HUGE dose at one time. Her side effects will be almost NONE with the new method, whereas the regular way we have been doing for the last 9 years made her sick. Either with headaches, vomiting, upset stomach. extremely low blood pressure or just plain downright crummy feeling. This new method is a slower rate, you get a small amount over a slightly longer time and you hopefully have hardly any if at all side effects.
We are very excited and quite a bit anxious about starting this new method. But we are going to give it a try. This new way will also help her to feel better during the entire month and not have any down times.
We are very excited and ready for this to start. Just wanted to let everyone know and to ask for prayers as we start this new hopefully long range treatment for her life long battle with the disease of Immune Deficiency.

Love, Hugs, & Prayers,

Xan

Hi Everyone!!! I have good news. We are hoping to be able to start the new method of treatment for Kaitlyn in 2 weeks. If we do not start it then, we will definitely be starting in 5 weeks. Everything is working out well, finally. Kaitlyn had her treatment on Friday, April 4th. Things went well. Her port-a-cath worked. This is the first time it has worked without us using the TPA (clot busting med) in three months. It worked from the beginning until the end. YEAH!!! Her treatment went well. Other than being extremely sleepy this time, she has been okay. No headache, no nausea, no upset stomach. This was a good treatment. Kaitlyn was due for one after the last 4 months have been so bad.
The rest of us are doing well. Other than the pollen. It is terrible!!! During this time of year no medicine I take does any good. Both Andrew & Kaitlyn are playing softball this year. Kaitlyn is having to wear a chest shield for her port, but it keeps it covered well. We have joined a new church. We had been at our old church for over 20 years, well Neil had been there his entire life. So this was not an easy step for any of us to take. We joined the church Sunday, after attending and getting involved since January. We all like it and the people have all been really nice to us. In fact, Kaitlyn will be baptized at the end of the month probably. She has been talking about it and has taken the walk down the aisle. We are so proud of her.
School is going okay for both children. Kailtyn and I hope to be finished in 5 weeks and then Andrew will be out in about 7 weeks. And then I will have a SENIOR in high school and a 6th grader. Wow, times flies!! It only seems like yesterday that I was having my babies and now they are almost grown.
We have some traveling to do over the next three months. We will be in West Virginia and Virginia the last weekend of this month for a wedding, that Kaitlyn is in. Then we will be at IDF (Immune Deficiency Foundation) National Conference in June and then we will be at the beach in July. Please keep us in your prayers as we travel. And keep us in your prayers for Kaitlyn to be able to start this new method of treatment.
I hope everyone is doing well and please leave us a note in our guestbook.

Hugs & Prayers,

Xan

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know what and how things are going for Kaitlyn and the rest of us right now. She had a treatment on yesterday, March 4th. The actual treatment went well. Her port would not work again this time. Last time it would not work at the end, this time it would not work either time, beginning or end. I am calling the surgeon again on Monday and making an appointment for him to check her out. Last month he said he said he did not need to see her. But I think he should see her and check her out. Just a Mama thing, but I don't think it should be doing like this, when we have never had this problem before. It has always worked extremely well. We are still trying to get started with the new method of treatment and are hoping to start by the end of April. It has been a headache to get it going, but we are thinking we have all the red tape taken care of and can get it going. Andrew got his high school ring Thursday!! It is pretty and looks good on him. He is excited about having it. He paid for it, so I think that makes it a little more special. Kaitlyn is doing well in 5th grade, except for the math. She is into fractions, decimals and all that entails. She hates it! If anyone knows an easier way to help her understand how to add, subtract, multiply, divide, reduce, find common demoninator and everything, let me know. She and I both are going to end up without any hair before this is over. So far we have all missed the flu bug. I had a nasty sinus infection 2 weeks ago, but thankfully it is gone. I just hope we keep missing the flu! Neil is doing well, working all the time as usual.
we got our quilt from Quilting Angels this past week and it is gorgeous!!! THANK YOU.... She loves it and has named all the dogs on it already. Guess I will hush for now. Please sign our guestbook.
Love and Hugs,

Xan

Hi everyone. My computer has been down. So I apologize for our updates being so far in between. I start this update asking for prayers for Kaitlyn. She had her treatment on yesterday and things did not go as well as they could have. We were told that the bottle of medicine that she got yesterday was the last they had and they did not know when they would get another one. There is a shortage of IVIG and the manufacturors are not making any right now. She has to have this medicine every 4 weeks to live. I ask that you keep us in your prayers on this very important matter.
Her treatment did not go well. She started with a fever and feeling crummy. She always gets very pale and tired. She also alot of time passes out. She almost passed out on me on the way home. She ended up going to sleep most of the way home and when we got home she went to bed and slept mostly til about 10am this morning. She has been extremely nausated and just plain crummy feeling. She is lying on the sofa and watching television.
On top of the reaction to her treatment, her port-a-cath would not act right. We had to have a clot buster used to get it to give us a return. We have to call the surgeon to have a dye test run and will more than likely have to have her port replaced.
I thank everyone again for visiting her site and leaving messages. We enjoy reading them. Kaitlyn has been a bit depressed this month anyway, because her two best friends (they are sisters) and their family moved to Virginia - 8 hours away! They have been writing letters and e-mailing some and have had one telephone conversation. But it is not the same as being together in person. She is really bothered about this move.
Thank you again for everything. God Bless you and yours,

Hugs, Love & Prayers,,

HI again everyone. Just wanted to let you know how Kaitlyn's treatment went on yesterday. She has really been pale, tired and just plaing "yucky" from it. She has slept most of afternoon after getting it and in fact did not feel all that well while she was getting it. I hope she will sleep late this morning and that this will help. We got more information late last night about starting the method of treatment and we are hoping to be able to start with this by the end of February. YEAH!!! This method should really help her. It will be a smaller dose every week versus one HUGE dose every four weeks. And we will eventually get to receive it at home and will not have to go the cancer clinic, which I think will help with her mind set. Please keep us and this new method in your prayers. We are really hoping this well work out for us.
Just a quick note on Andrew. He took the SAT in December and we finally got his results this week, he made an 1100!!! I was and am so proud of him. I don't think he will have a problem getting into the pre-law program with this score. Please keep him in your prayers as he is now starting to put in applications to his "really would like to go here colleges" and applying for financial aid. Neil and I are doing well, just tired all the time and trying to keep up. We are looking for a new church and are planning on going to a new one that is about 30m minutes from us. Please pray that we find a church soon and get back into working with other christians. We miss not being involved with church activities. Also, please pray for our area and our state. We had a terrible train wreck about an hour from where we live and so far 8 people have died from the chemical spill that resulted and there are over 250 ill from it and thousands of people evacuated from their homes and living in shelters. Also alot of them have lost not only family members, but their pets have not survived. Please just say a prayer for these people. Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. We really do feel them. And thank you again to our Hugs/Hope elves. Everything was beautiful! Both Kaitlyn & Andrew loved everything!! Lots of prayers,

Xan

HI EVERYONE. Sorry that we have not updated as soon as we should have. We have been home since late Sunday evening from the Big God Conference and it was AWESOME!!! We had over 200 students get saved! We all enjoyed it, but came home TIRED. Kaitlyn has been extremely worn out and just feeling yucky. She has her treatment tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 7th. And she is so ready for it. She has started with a kind of barky cough and is just so pale and tired. I will hush for now and will leave a more detailed update on Saturday after we get home from the hospital. Much love to each of you. Happy New Year!!! The Moseley's

Monday, December 20, 2004 9:04 AM CST

Hi again everyone. Sorry to be so long in posting an update. Kaitlyn had her last treatment on Friday, December 10th and did so-so with it. She was a little sick and very tired and slept alot of that weekend. She had two doctors appointments last week. She saw the sinus specialist and he said she looked okay, her nose is starting to get a little infected, but he did not put her on any antibiotics - yet. She also saw her Immunologist and her lung functions were still very low. He changed a few of her meds, but other than that she is doing pretty good. She has her next treatment on Friday, January 7, 2005. Four weeks goes so fast when you are having to get a treatment every 4 weeks. We are still holding our breath to not be in the hospital for Christmas. If she does it, this will be the second Christmas that she has not been in the hospital since she was 2 years old. We are praying to stay out of the hospital!!!! She and Andrew are looking forward to Christmas, to all of it, the presents, food, family and mainly be out of school!! We leave on next Wednesday for a Church Conference. They are ready for that too. We go and work it for some very dedicated Christian friends that we have. We just show up, they pay for our lodging and provide meals. It is AWESOME!!! God is so GOOD!! I wanted to thank the "ELVES" who sent the Christmas gifts thru Hugs/Hope. They were extremely well done boxes. THANK YOU!!!! I know both of the children will love each item.

I hope that this finds everyone doing well and that we each remember what the real meaning of Christmas really is. Our family sends much love, many hugs and constant prayers to each of you. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!
Neil, Xan, Andrew & Kaitlyn

Monday, December 6, 2004 8:38 AM CST

Hi again to everyone. I hope and trust that you each had a Happy Thanksgiving Holiday! Ours was good. We got to see our families and eat way too much food!! I am thankfully over my "flu bug", but my hand is still infected and I am having to keep it wrapped. Makes it hard to do housework and cook. It is getting better, but I have at least 2 more weeks of keeping it wrapped up. Kaitlyn is running on low last week and this week. She has her next treatment on this Friday, the 10th. She is just always so tired and feeling crummy that all she wants to do is sleep until she gets her treatment. Which makes it interesting with us homeschooling. She does not want to do any of her work. Andrew took the SAT for the first time on this past Saturday. He had to drive and hour and half by himself to get to the testing site (which had me more worried than him taking the test!). He is a test taker, so I am not real worried about the score, especially since this was the first time that he has taken it. He can take it again if he needs too, he says that it was not bad EXCEPT for the math. He said there was some things on there he had never seen. So he is worried a little about his score. Neil is working all the time as usual. He stays so tired and worried over the finances, I do too, but he really does. We thankfully with God's help keep making it and I know that he will keep taking care of us. Our insurance coverage is changing some after the first of the year, so we are both worried about what will still be covered with all of Kaitlyn's stuff. Sorry to be heading down a "down" street. I hope that each of you is doing okay and we thank you for signing our guestbook. Please keep letting us know that you are out there. Kaitlyn loved all the birthday wishes she got! She thinks that she is something now that she is 11 !!! I am sorry that is has been almost 2 weeks since our last update and I promise to try and do better. Thank you so much for all of your thoughts, prayers and prayers. We love you all, The Moseley's

Tuesday, November 23, 2004 4:27 PM CST

Hi again everyone. Just a quick note to let you know that we are doing some better. I have been sick with something close to the flu and let me tell you it really is a "kicker". Kaitlyn is off antibiotics for now and is doing okay. Now she has started having nose bleeds, sometimes 2 or 3 a day. Always something. Andrew & Kaitlyn are both out of school until Monday. YEAH!! We have a full day of travel for Thursday and then we hope to be home the rest of the weekend. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Love, Prayers, & Hugs,

Xan, Neil, Andrew, & Kaitlyn

Wednesday, November 17, 2004 7:41 AM CST

Hi again everyone. Kailtyn is so excited to see that people have started reading and signing her guestbook. She loves signing in and seeing how many people have been here. She was at the ENT on yesterday and had to be sent for CT scan and had some of her medicines changed, but at the moment is off of antibiotics. YEAH!! We are all looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday and the food. She is starting her school work now and has her piano lesson today at 11:30, so it is going to be another full day. Just a quick note, thank you to person who sent her birthday box from Hugs & Hope. She received it yesterday and loved it! Lots of Love, Prayers, & Hugs to all, Xan & Kaitlyn

Sunday, November 14, 2004 2:53 PM CST

Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know how Kaitlyn's treatment went on Friday. She woke up with a migraine and ended up being sick after taking her medicines, which she did not keep. We went on to the clinic and they did end up doing her treatment. She has been really tired and sleepy since Friday, but she has not been sick again. She just wants to sleep. She goes back to the ENT on Tuesday and I really feel like he will do a CT scan of her sinuses, since she has been on antibiotics for the last 2 1/2 months. Andrew is doing good. He will be taking the SAT for the first time in December. Hard to believe that he is a Junior and getting info from colleges and sending them info. Sorry it has been so long since I updated the page. Hope everyone has a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! Much love, many prayers and HUGE hugs, Xan
