Journal
Wednesday, June 6, 2012 I started an update a month ago but didn't finish it or post. This will be a continuation of that...
May 10 2012
3 weeks left in the school year. I think I'm looking forward to the end of the year as much as the kids are. For me it's the break from having to go through bookbags and sign folders, help correct homework and tests, etc. Chris told me he wants me to find a job that will pay me to take the summers off with them. Sounds fun, but I don't see that happening.
The weather has been great and we've been keeping busy enjoying cookouts, barbeques, birthday parties, sleepovers, going to the beach, etc, etc, etc.
Aside from some seasonal allergies the kids have been pretty healthy. Chris had his yearly cardio appt a few weeks back. I was a little disappointed with the results of his echo. It showed that his heart function has dropped a little again. Not enough to adjust his meds or even to require a recheck sooner than 12 months unless we see any strange symptoms. His ENT/audio appointment was the same kind of results. Slight drop in his hearing. Not enough to adjust his hearing aides but enough to warrent a follow-up in 6 months. We also went for what I was hoping to be his last neuro apt. He has weaned off the seizure drugs and hadn't had any issues. Dr said it's too soon to call it a success (only took the last dose in Feb) so we will come back in 12 months and if all is good till than he will release him. Not really what I wanted to hear from any of them, but it could be so much worse, so we will take it. He's got his regular scans (MIBG, urine and bloodwork) this month. Breanna is coming with us this time and is really looking forward to the trip. It seems anxiety and scans go hand in hand, so of course he started complaining of wierd symptoms 2 weeks ago (headaches and nausea). Ibuprofen and skipping breakfast seemed to help. For now we are just going to blame it on sinus/allergies and try and stay busy.
The school year ended and the kids both were recognized at awards night. Breanna got a music award, drama club award and an excellence award. Chris got a first class award (and it came with a trophy!). Last weekend we went camping with the cub scouts and Chris handled most of the cooking for us. We experimented with biscuits on a camp stove (pretty good).
In the next month we got our trip to NY, summer camp for the kids, swimming, etc etc. :)
Happy Summer everyone! I will post when we get back from NY in 2 weeks.
