Born four months prematurely, our precious son, Charlie, had overcome many obstacles even before he was diagnosed at age 3 with hepatoblastoma, a rare liver cancer. Charlie died on October 7th, 2002, after suffering severe blood loss during surgery. We continue to celebrate his life and await our reunion with him, in God's time.
Journal
Sunday, October 7, 2012 9:58 PM CDT We remembered Charlie today by hosting coffee hour after church, featuring all of Charlie's favorite foods -- a short list, to be sure. The rainbow Jello was a big hit with the kids, and possibly a bigger hit with the grown-ups -- Episcopalians clearly don't get enough Jello! There were olives, of course, and Flamin' Hot Cheetos, Funyuns, Doritos (thanks, Sue!), gingerbuffaloes, and a few token healthy foods just so newer parishioners wouldn't think we were completely insane.
10 years, 10 minutes -- it hardly seems to matter. We miss Charlie today as much as the day he left us.
