Maria,
So glad to hear Anthony is doing well. What is it with our Anthony's and the tubes. My Ant also had the tonsils, adenoids and tubes done in one sweep--he was about 4 then and he doesn't remember a thing. An overnight stay would be my preferred route also.

Our love and prayers go out to you! Also tell your Mom and Dad I send hugs there way. I haven't seen them since they retired.

I'm praying that the scans look good to give you comfort. I don't like playing the AFP game. Although, 3.75 is still a great number, it is still worrisome that it's higher than Anthony's norm - I understand your concern. Please know that we're praying for you all to not have to deal with a relapse!!! Love, Matty's Mom

Prayers continue for all of you! Just try to remember that the AFP 'can and will' fluctuate sometimes. Zach's was 5 once then 7 and then down to 4 the next time. His stayed at 4 for a year and a half and then was 2.21 this last time. Our oncologist has always told us that as long as it's normal, we should not worry about the fluctuations. We all KNOW that darn AFP will rise QUICKLY when the cancer is present. Not knowing is definitely the most frustrating part - I am right there with you having had a 'scare' of our own, too. Hang in there - we are still praying for all of you!

I check on Anthony every single day, I'm so glad that you updated but sorry to hear the frustrating news. Matty, at one time, had 2 lung tumors but his AFP was still 7 so the docs were baffled by that but the tumors were bigger than what you're looking at with Anthony. I hope and pray that it's absolutely nothing - but also, don't let them put it off, make sure they stay on top of it. I hope that 2007 brings you a Happy, Healthy and Cancer-Free New Year!!!

Hi, I just got your website from Brandon's website and when I read that you are following Jake, Dillon and AnnaJane, I thought this can't be another child with Hepatoblastoma. But I came upon your site and see that Anthony also was a stage IV Hepato child. So glad to hear he's doing so well. My son along with the 3 that you mentioned on Brandon's site is also not doing well and we're still waiting for a cure. He doesn't respond to chemo or radiation and continues to fight brain, wristbone and lung tumors. He's the oldest of all the kids we're following though, he's almost 7 years old.
Again, I'm so glad to see Anthony is doing well. LIVESTRONG!

Maria,
I'm very glad to see Anthony is doing so well;I know how you feel about the hearing aids issue because we will be going through the same soon with Brandon:Brandon also has high frequency hearing loss which is borderline with normal speech range, but the audiologist wants to wait until he starts kindergarten and see if he can adjust ;now he is adjusting great and he has speech therapy once a week, but just the thought of all he's gone through and having to be teased at school seems no fair. Our children are wonderful and brave boys and I know they will be ok;as once a nurse told me :if that's all he has to deal with for the rest of his life it's a small price to pay" they shouldn't have to pay a price but just have to keep looking at the big picture:they are here with us and cancer-free.
My heart goes out to you,I'm always checking on Anthony and I will pray for him to continue in remission and for you and your family,
love,
Cecilia (Brandon's mom)

We too had to wait five years Maria and Sal. It's somewhat of a burden however with each day, you hope that there's another. Waiting gets easier too. Patrick is now 11 years old and very healthy (although too skinny for my liking)! Anyway, just hang tough, stay abreast of his type of cancer, and enjoy your son! Much hope and love.

We will continue praying for Anthony's complete healing,by the way in his latest picture he looks like such a big boy!

Thank you for checking on Elijah and for your wonderful words in Eli's Guestbook. You will never know how somedays even a few words can really pick me up. Thanks so much.

I read your heart is heavy with thoughts of the children that suffer. It is so sad when children fly to heaven. I don't know if this with help you but through my journey it has helped me. I read a book to my son called "What about heaven" there is a part that always makes me smile and cry.

"In heaven nobody will ever get sick! Our hurts will be healed, and the deaf will all hear. The blind will see clearly. There is nothing to fear! Everyone there will be able to talk, To sing and to dance, and to run and to walk."

God Bless / I pray you all have a wonderful day! Eli’s Angels

I saw Sal the other day and he was grinning from ear to ear when I asked him about the "baby". Guess your baby isn't so little any more. I remember back a year ago and I have not missed day of prayer for Anthony and your family. I can't wait for the time when my prayers will change from a deep plea for recovery to a thankful prayer of joy, faith and complete healing. Your family has been through much this past year and your courage has touched many lives. May God continue to hold you all safely in the Palm of His Hand. Your story of courage and healing will be an inspiration to those, who sadly, are just starting the journey you began a year ago.

Dear Maria, Anthony, Sal and Sal;

I read your entry on Dillon Clark’s guest book on Caringbridge. I have spent the past hour reading your journal and find it to be so inspiring. Diane, Dillon’s mom, is one of my dearest friends. As you know, this is such a nightmare situation for any family to go through. Your journal really demonstrates that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that setbacks are to be expected but don’t necessarily mean the end of the world. Although Dillon was diagnosed a little over two months ago, it seems like a lifetime ago. It is still hard to believe that this is happening to him, and to us. Thank you for sharing your story. Anthony is such a beautiful baby boy…. His attitude and Great Spirit are reminiscent of Dillon. I will keep Anthony and your family in my prayers and check in on him regularly.

Maria,
I'll pray for Anthony's labs to be up so he can get that long awaited last round! He's almost there!! He's over the mountain and nearing the finish line! You all have made it through a very rough valley. I know it's hard to think of the cancer ever coming back. I tell myself, one day at a time and it does no good to worry what may come, but to put in the Lord's hand's. He has shown He will take care of Anthony and my Zoey and He will keep doing so. God Bless you all! Thanks for letting me get to know such a special little guy!

Oh boy I finally found time to sign in. Sorry it has been so long. I haven’t been able to get around to everyone lately. Things have been a little crazy here. I have been trying to keep things normal while family is coming in and out. It might be a while before I can get back around as I am doing work on Eli’s Angels and hoping to finish the paperwork this week. Know that I pray for all our buddies every night. There are so many things that remind me of each one throughout the day. I love to think of such wonderful gifts. Elijah got a Pooh costume for Halloween. He also got to go to the pumpkin patch. I sure hope you are all planning a wonderful Holiday.

Maria, I am Kelly Davis' father. Thank you for signing her page. It really perks her up when people she does not even know write to her. My niece who has just turned 5 was diagnosed with the same disease Anthony has at age age 18 mos. She is now 5 and continues to grow like a normal girl. She has been cured for over 3 and 1/2 years. My daughters AFP is at 4.7 with her teratoma. She has been pretty ill recently, but is a real fighter. You and your family will be in our prayers.

Maria & Sal, words can not explain how much I have admired your enormous strenght through this ordeal. Salby, you are a wonderful brother and you should be proud of yourself for helping out. Maria, we are all praying for your family. Have faith in God above, He will guide you through these rough waters. 1Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you." and in Romans 15:13 it says, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." We all know that this is not easy but keep the faith and God will handle the rest. I am always asking Maureen how you are all doing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless all of you.

Maria,

Your family and your baby are in my families prayers. We will pray that God grants you the health that Anthony so deserves. You dont know me, Roseann lived with me for awhile. She sent me a link and clued me in to what is going on with your son. If there is ever anything our family can do please never hesitate to ask. We will pray hard for Anthony, and you. Look to God for your strength and all shall be well.

Maria, I am so sorry to hear this latest (but ever so hopeful). I have many people sending extra prayers and I am doing the same. I wish I could volunteer for Anthony but the age range does not fit me (as you know). Maybe the doctor can take vessels from another part of Anthony. Today, they can do so much that it's amazing. Keep up your strength and take care of yourself. Anthony needs you. God will make this right. If I can help in any way, call me. Otherwise, I'll see you next Wednesday. Keep hugging your 'bear'. It will help. Love and blessings. Patience

Please know that even though I do not know you or how you must be feeling, my prayers are with you and your family. Hi Maria: I worked with your Mom and Dad. When I heard about your little boy, I cryed. I had a little boy who was 4 years old with a brain tumor. His name was also "Anthony", so this hits close to my heart. He is my little angel in Heaven now and I have asked him to be beside your son thru his illness, his little guardian Angel. I know in my heart that he will pull thru this. Prayers are so powerful. From one Mom to another, have strong arms, keep up with your journal entries (they keep your mind straight with everyone telling so much information). Keep track of his daily counts, med's and dose's. I will be praying very hard for your little angel. Prayers are powerful. Pray to the Blessed Mother as she know's what you are going thru. Stay strong and if you ever want to talk, please call me anytime 610-394-9022

Maria and Sal,
I just found this webpage by browsing ebay and came across the link. I read about your sweet baby Anthony. I know God is giving you all the strength to endure and I pray he will guide the surgeons hands during surgery to successfully remove the tumor. Having just lost my dad on Tues. July 6th this story moves me so much. I think my life is turned upside down by his death but you are going thru so much more than I could ever imagine. I am bookmarking your site to keep abreast of Anthony's condition. Love and prayers I send out to you. May God touch his tiny body and heal him completely! God Bless you all and may you find comfort in Him.

Hi Maria. Our prayers are with you as well. They wanted to place a port in Patrick when he was sick as well. We decided against it at the time because of infections and the possibility of it coming out. Patrick had to get stuck a lot and yes, I always felt terribly about it but I felt it was safer at the time. He doesn't even remember getting stuck as a 2-5 year old. Hang in there folks. Be patient (We know that's hard!).

My son and I just learned of your website. Danny is 12 and has a spinal cord tumor. He is undergoing chemo at CHOP also. We will be in clinic June 3rd for a treatment. Our normal day is Tues. but due to a MRI the day is switched. We have been dealing with this for three years now. Take your days one at a time and let people help is my best advice. I can really tell you that I know how you feel. Being a parent of a sick child can be very hard. It also has it's blessings. I'm sure you will agree. We no longer take any day for granted and we love the daylights out of Danny!! Hope it help to know you are not alone. Feel free to contact me if you need someone to chat with. Maybe we'll see at CHOP. May God bless you and your very cute son!! Our prayers are with you. Love Jody and Danny Hammond

Maria; We have been away for a couple weeks, it was so good to be able to look up your journal and find out what has been going on. We praise the Lord for how He is working in this situation; we praise Him that the tumor has shrunk and that the treatment is working. Our prayers continue to be with you and your family.

Hi Maria! You finally updated. Thank you . Was getting concerned! Great to see things are progressing nicely! It's a shame he has to go thru 3 more rounds but, by then, the tumor should be pretty non-existent!!! Hope your Uncle Bobby is doing better. And, of course, little Sarah will be added to my list. I am praying for all of you and will see you tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Hope the children are enjoying Pooh and all his friends! God bless! Love you.

Maria: Just saw the pics of Anthony with his "buzz"; he's still a real cutie. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers everyday. Tom and Don have been especially moved by these events. They follow all the updates with Lisa and Doug and though its hard to know what to say sometimes, they always try to make you laugh. Laughter is good medicine, but so is prayer and know that we are praying for Anthony.

I was doing some research for work on the web and came across this website for USNews. It lists CHOP as the #1 Pediatric Hospital in the COUNTRY - Anthony is in good hands! Our boys go to Dr. Langer also. PAML diagnosed Joey with a hernia at 2 mos and sent him to CHOP too. They are on the ball and catch things early! So you have a great hospital and super doctors...which lead to great outcomes! Hang in there! If you are interested in the website, go to http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/hosptl/rankings/specreppedi.htm. We're praying of you!

Anthony's in the best place he can be right now Maria and Sal. My son Patrick was diagnosted with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) when he was 23 months old. He too, was given Vincristine. Aunt ReRe, Uncle Sal, Salby & Baby Anthony: It breaks our heart that you all are going through this very difficult time and it's hard to find the words to consul you. We do though, feel in our hearts that Anthony will recover from this and that you are great parents! The next year will be very rough and just know we are here for you anytime you should need anything, day or night! Having this website is the best idea. We get calls daily from friends and family asking about Anthony's progress and how he is sleeping, eating, when his next treatment will be and now we can tell them to log on and see his beautiful little face and get a daily update. You know we are not a religious family, though we do believe in the strenghth of family & friends! Keep the faith....he is being treated by one of the best hospitals and parents in the country!!!
