Here you are! I have been looking high and low for you in my CB "list"...so I am glad you signed Spencer's guest book so that I now know how to come and check on you! After re-reading Delaney's story, I know that you know, more than most, exactly what we are facing with Spencer's relapse. Helpless, to do anything other than pray that "it" all turns out well. Hoping, praying that Miss Delaney is doing well.

With love and never ending hope!

Renee, I haven't checked in lately but I had to after reading your essay in CURE last night (with the tears falling). What an incredible job you did explaining the journey of childhood cancer families! Your Chrissy is truly an angel on earth, clearly she and Delaney were brought together for a special reason.
So wonderful to see that Delaney and your family are doing well. May the blessings continue!

So sorry to hear that Delaney is dealing with mastoiditis. Hopefully the meds will clear it up without the surgery. Hopefully Delaney's pain has eased too. Jake had a mastoidectomy on his affected side as it became full and infected and look suspicious on the MRI. You can't even see his scar in the crease behind his ear. He was a little nauseous and dizzy the first 24 hours, but then was back to school in 48 hours. He doesn't seem to miss that mastoid bone and it has not become infected since. Keeping you close in our prayers!

Hi Team Delaney,
I was referred to your miraculous site via another mom of a survivor of Ewing's. My grandson, Spencer, was DX with Ewings pNET in July, 2008. Luckily, if that's what you could call it, his tumor presented in the orbit of his eye, so the swelling quickly became evident, resulting in a rapid fire progression of diagnosis, surgery, chemo and radiation. He underwent Proton Radiation in Houston, hoping that it will be less damaging to surrounding tissues and his little 5 year old brain.

Delaney's story is truly amazing and inspirational. I have confidence that, considering the monster she has already fought and won, she will "grow fully into herself". The general educational programs are not so programmed to meet the child's needs as they are to equalize everyone. However, based on what appears to be her very nature and character, backed by a loving family, I have faith that she will be just fine...equal to her peers in every possible way and surpassing them in many ways. Given the delayed diagnosis and all that she has been through and survived, there is no question that she is meant for greater things.

My prayers are with you all and I want to thank you for allowing me to know and see that Ewings can in fact, be beat!

Hi, Team Delaney!!! I just caught up with your updates over the summer. I hope the frustrations that Delaney is feeling right now with a new environment work themselves out. I'm sure soon everyone will transition to Delaney's challenges and she will learn better ways to cope. Hang in there, Mom! Glad to hear that Delaney met that 5 year mark - what an amazing survivor she is. Even with her challenges, you can celebrate her remarkable fight and win over cancer! I know we are thankful for the inspiration that you guys gave us through our own journey. We are 4 months away from Jake's 5 year mark! We are so thankful for that and so thankful for Delaney's continued remission when we come and visit this site. All of you have come so far and we celebrate that too! Thanks for keeping us updated! Beautiful picture on the front page! What a beautiful little life Delaney is!

Hi,
I'm glad to hear the good news. I look at your website often for updates. I hope you're adjusting to life in Fishers. We loved that area and enjoyed the year we lived there. The community and the schools are great!!! Have you met the Hardee family yet? They live in Fishers and I had the opportunity to meet them at a dental office where I worked. You may already know them from church or school. They have a boy, Jake, who has a caringbridge website. His address is www.caringbridge.org/in/jake. If you get a chance to meet this family it would be great for both of you. Bridget(Jake's mom) is going through a lot of the 'now what' post-treatment issues that you went through a few years ago. I'm sure she'd love hearing from someone who's been through it. Delaney...you and your family will remain in our prayers. I'm glad you have this website so I can check to see how you're doing and see how much you and your siblings are growing up! I will never forget meeting you and your family outside Cozymel's in Dublin, OH. Take care!!!

We will say prayers that this latest MRI is just what all the scares we have had with Jake are - scares from very tough to read MRI's. We know now going into an MRI that things will never be clear and they are never really sure what they are looking at. It's a skull heavily damaged from surgery and radiation and full of snot all the time. His MRI's never really look the same and unless we have this one radiologist who knows Jake the best, we always get this same kind of report - "cannot rule out tumor reoccurance." It used to freak us out. Now we just know going in that that is what the report could say and if it does it takes a couple of days for everyone to decide if we should worry or not. Two years ago, half of them thought it was a relapse, half thought it was not. We went to the side of caution and he had a mastoidectomy to remove the suspicious area. Pathology results showed nasty radiated tissue and packed in there forever snot. We will say BIG prayers that that is exactly what Delaney has too. Hang in there and we hope you get a consensus soon!

Hi Renée I was doing some long over due editing of my "Favorites" links and came across Caringbridge. It was fate that I should sign on so soon after you updated the site, although I have no idea how often you do this. I looked over who had signed in and when. I know who a few of the La Forest's are, but only through long lapsed email contact. However, I still remember that afternoon (I forget the year - 2002?) when Mike and I stopped by to visit (although I forget where it was). I was impressed by your strength and dedication. And (over the years), I still am.
I suppose Delaney is old enough to use a computer and use email, if so, I would like to exchange ideas with her and get to know her better. I assume your move to Indiana was to accept a new occupation. I don't like to move anymore, although Lord knows I did enough of it when I was in the USAF.
I hope you and th kids are not only well, but enjoying life.

Yeah! I am so glad to see an update and a great one at that! We started school August 13th, so we can beat you there! They are a little gung ho on education here in Omaha - oh well, if my only complaint is that we start school too early, then things are good! I can't believe the kids are in 4th 6th and 8th grade! Wow! I dared to put Jake's 5 year date on his last update too - December of 2008 is getting close and closer all the time! I know both of our kiddos will make those dates and many others well into their futures! I and I'm sure many others are faithful checkers of updates here on Delaney's site. She was our first source of information and inspiration when we started this battle. The first of skull Ewing's I ever found. Please keep updating as I continue to refer many other skull Ewing's to her site to give them the same inpriation I have gotten from your whole family's story over the years! Keeping you always in our prayers! Hope it's a great week and that the weather has cooled there in Indiana like it has finally here! Love these 70's!

I came across your site via another site on childhood cancer's, so while I am not familiar with your own history updates are good! Even though you may think no one is reading with the internet these days, there are lots and lots of individuals out there ck'ing on others that we don't even know just learn to care for via web. (Even when we don't post, we still read and care. :) God Bless your sweet daughter and your family! May the "all to soon" upcoming year be the answers to your prayers! Hey Renee, Emilie, Delaney, and Joshua,

I can't believe how grown up you all look! It looks like life in that State Up North is agreeing with you. It was good to read your update. Renee, you mentioned being busy at work. Do tell - what are you up to these days? What kind of job is it? (Enquiring minds want to know :-) Life is more hectic than normal here. We're *finally* building a house on our lot (we've only owned it since 1989!!!) and getting this house ready to sell. The new house is supposed to be done before the end of the year. Dan wants to be in before the holidays - I have my doubts about that. It's only 9/10 of a mile away, so none of the boys have to change schools, which we're pleased about. One of the best things about it is that the mud room has a shower to clean filthy boys, and "cubbies" for the boys to hang their backpacks. No more excuses for leaving them on the floor. Yeah! Well, I guess that's it for now. Take care. I think of you often.

OK Renee, it's been a full quarter now, time for an update. How has the beginning of the school year progressed? What's up with each of the three kids? Your love life? Your job? Does Delaney have any test dates coming up? I pray for all four of you daily and check in periodically, so I'm just looking for a little updated info here!

Hi, Renee and the 3 Little Diggs! I had to catch up and read back a bit to see how you guys are doing. So thankful that Delaney's latest scans were clear! Such a miracle that child is in so many ways! So glad to read too that Emile is doing so well and that it seems things are finally settling and somewhat "normal" again. "New normal" I should say, huh? I'm sure the challenges with Delaney are frustrating for her and all of you. We will keep you guys in our prayers that things are easier for the kids to understand and become more managable. Hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July!!!!

Hi. I've been on the acor listserv a bit with a friend kelly who is 34. That list is so great and informative, but was overwhelming for me. Today I got back on because she's not doing well and I heard the GREAT news about Delaney so I came to your page for HOPE! thank you. Also....my inlaws live in Powell Ohio and my brother in Farmington Hills, MI...I'm a UM grad in Bio and worked at Motts for a short time as a patient sitter....so....it was neat to see that you've been to the same places. Love to all.

Hello All! Wow, so much happened over three months for all of you. Glad to hear the Tim is back, closer to the children. They will enjoy having him closer. Josh is certainly growing into a fine young man. I bet he is enjoying the basketball hoop (Thomas & Matthew would be jealous :-)). The school year is wrapping up here, it doesn't seem possible, time really does fly. I hope we get an opportunity to meet up with all of you this summer!!!

Hadn't been to the site in a while and it was great to see an update. Sounds like things are going well for Josh and Emily. I am so glad about that. I'm sure you have such mixed feelings in regards to Delaney and dealing with her challenges. Happy that she is alive and for the treatment that enabled that to be, but at the same time so sad for the side effects that she faces everyday. We hope the deterioration to her glands, skull and brain do reach a plateau and soon. We know with your strength and determination, Delaney will deal with all of the changes she faces with grace and success. You guys are always in our prayers!

Hip hop, hippety hop
My “Easter Bunny” went off to the shop,
He bought me an egg and lots of chocs
And packed them into a cardboard box.
Then he wrapped it with paper and shiny string
It really was such a pretty thing.
Disaster struck when I opened the door-
He slid across the parquet floor,
He went round the corner and past the stairs
And finished up in a pile of chairs.
Of the Easter goodies not a trace,
he’d thrown them into my fireplace!
So a warning before you go opening doors
Make sure your “Bunny” has non-slip paws!

Happy Easter

With lots of love,

Everyone at Post Pals

Hello Renee, Delaney & Josh! Check in everyday to see what's happening, would love to hear from you!! The boys are out for Spring Break (and of course the snow showed up). We aren't going out of state, but know there are alot of Ohioans headed south (wish we were heading the same way). We have a little overnighter planned, so at least we'll get away for awhile (and somewhere else other than a Cavs game :-)). Post your updates, and as always, call us if you're in Columbus. Hope everyone is in good health and spirits!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

May the Grass be soft as heather
as it sways beneath your feet
May smiles so bright and so cheerful
light up every face that you meet...

May your heart be ever hopeful,
and filled with glad songs to be sung,
And may the years always be kindly
to keep you forever young!

May the Luck of the Irish be with you...always, forever and a day!

Love,

Delaney! We were SOOOOO glad to hear from you and your family. Riley thought that you were one cool chick! He said that tell tell the funniest jokes ever. Eden couldn't believe it when I told her you lived far away in Michigan, she wanted you to some over and play this week.
I must tell you, Delaney, that I really enjoyed our converastions that the hockey game Friday night. You are high on my list of fun people to chat with. Any time that you plan to bring your mom back to Ohio, you need to call and let us know so that we can all get together and hang out. I still think you have the coolest reading glasses that I have ever seen!
Renee, your family is top notch. Thanks for signing the guestbook and opening up the lines of communication. My kids just loved meeting yours. It's so rare that Riley amkes a connection like he did with Delaney, I'd hate for him to lose that.
I'm sorry that I didn't get more of a chance to chat Friday night. Sometime the non-cancer kid needs the attention more the the cancer kid and I worked HARD to find that balance there in the arena, my feet still hurt!
Please stay in contact, we really enjoyed meeting you all and look forward to becoming friends.
My email will be below, please use it!
