REading past journal entries is like going back to another life a thousand years ago,but like yesterday at the same time. Its weird. Emma will be 4 years old next mnth and she is getting excited about her party. I think we might have it at the park. Maybe Bethal mill or Red Bank battle field. Not sure yet. We'll let everyone know. She has been doing great and we have even started "school". Which she really enjoys.Everything is going really well. Jenn

Tuesday, February 8, 2005 10:39 PM CST

Hello everyone
Today has been very hard on me but really on Emma. We had an ear, nose, and throat Dr. come and look in Ems ear today. (Its been infected and started bleeding.)We had to put her in this thing that holds her so she can't move while the Dr. suctioned her ear and Emma screemed. It was horrible.
She is sleeping now and tomorrow we are going to the O.R. so the can look more closely and see whats going on. The Dr. today said that Emmas ear was so inflamed that she couldn't even see the eardrum, or the tube. They are going to give her new tubes also.
As far as count go we are on the rise! 70 anc yesterday and 240 today. We also had white cells today. So as soon as this ear gets figured out and Miss Em starts drinking, we will be on are way home! I miss my Buddy so much when I'm here I just can't wait to be home for good.
Love you all, Love Jenn

Monday, February 7, 2005 7:38 PM CST

emma is starting to feel better, still has a low grade fever but the doctor think its from the shots.she had a anc of 70 today so she starting to make cells again which means she she has somethinig there to fight off the sores so it should only get better from here on out.she is still hurting a little but she was sitting up and talking a little today.our little princess is coming around and were so proud of her,she is so brave.thanks again everyone for all your prayers and just keep them coming and pray that she wil be home with us soon.love you all godbless

Friday, February 4, 2005 6:25 PM CST

Well Em is still hanging in there. Some how she seems better to me today, even though we have been uping her pain meds slowly every day. Her personality seemed better. Still know counts ,but a few cell yesterday so maybe its starting! I'm not even thinking about coming home yet, but it will be here before we know it.
Keep my little love in your prayers, Jenn
P.S. lately she has been wrapping her little arm around my neck at night and saying"You wanna tuddle (cuddle) Mommy?" She is so stinken cute!

Tuesday, February 1, 2005 11:55 AM CST

Hello everyone
Emma had a rough night and she is not feeling to good today. She was put on her PCA (pain meds)late yesterday afternoon. Her ear has been bothering her and last night it started to really hurt. This morning it had started to drain and I think it feels a little better, but it is definately infected. She is on all kinds of antibiotics already so it shouldn't last long. At least she has some good pain meds going right into her bloodsteam via her broviac. The next few days will probably be the hardest so please keep her in all of your prayers.
Thanks,jenn

Sunday, January 30, 2005 2:49 PM CST

toady is day plus four and little emm woke up with a sore throat this morning we gave her a little pain meds and seems to be doing fine with it now.they told us if we got to day plus four she would be in better shape than most kids who go through it,and we made it.she will still be hurting but just not as long.she is still drinking and nibbling on stuff so that is another good thing the sores arent to bad yet.but the little trooper is doing great.she is always asking about her bud bud,she misses him so much.she wanted to go to the beach the other day i told her it was too cold and she said she would wear her coat.i felt so bad.thankyou calvary chapel sunday school for all the get well cards you sent for emm that was so nice.keep praying for her and soon she will be joining you there on sundays.thankyou everyone for your prayers and remember to lift her this week this could be a rough week for her but through prayer all things are possible.thankyou and godbless.

Dear Friends
Praise the Lord!! Emmas fever broke last night at about 11:00pm. It looks like it was just a side affect of the radiation.(we were told that it was not by one of the nurses last night). Dr.Grupp came in to check on Em this morning and said that she looked great and was doing fine. Please keep him in your prayers. I don't think he is saved. I keep thinking , this guy is so smart and has done so much for so many people, imagine what he could do with the Almighty behind everything he does. My prayer while I am here is that I would be a wittness to these people that care so much for us. That they would see the Lord in our life. I know we are here for a reason.
Keep my baby in your prayers . So far she is doing good and her spirits are up, although she is already starting to ask if she can go home.I just keep telling her "not today, but soon". Lets hope thats true.
Jenn

Monday, January 24, 2005 6:20 PM CST

hello everyone Emma has just piked a low grade fever. We really are not sure what it could be from ,but it is not good. She should not have a fever yet. At sometime they are expected but not this early in the process. One of the worst things that could happen is that this could set her treatment back. Please keep her in your praters. This could be nothing, lets all hope and pray that the Lord will keep his hands on her .
Thanks ,Jenn

Sunday, January 23, 2005 7:44 PM CST

We finished our last round of chemo today.we will never have chemo again!we start our first round of radiation tommorow morning early.but she is doing really well with the chemo still happy and playing,no nausea and vomitting just being emma.the radiation could cause some nausea and vommitting but hopefully we can stay on top of it and avoid dit.mon tuesday and wednesday radiation then we we get our transplants.after that it will be a waiting game.waiting for her to bounce back and heal from her mouth sores.just pray that her sores dont get too bad.its supposed to the worse thing this round so keep her lifted up and pray she gets through with little pain as possible.

Friday, January 21, 2005 6:17 PM CST

Hi Everyone
Well we are back in for our second transplant .This is it!!! After this one we are done. We will have to come back for tests and check ups but thats it.
Emma is doing great and doesn't seem to be upset by being here at all. She is watching snow white right now and eating chips. I miss home already though I know we'll be home before we know it. The worst thing about this round is going to be the mouth sores. Please keep little Emmy in your prayers, that she has a small amount of sores and that they heal quickly. the sooner she starts to eat and drink the earlier we go home. She will be starting her chemo tonight and she will get it for three days, then T.B.I. for three days(radiation). The sore will probably set in about 4 days after that.
I know the Lord has Emma in his hands and i am not fearfull at all. Thankyou for all your support and prayers, we love you all,
Jenn and Shawn Is 41:10

Hello Friends
Thankyou everyone for helping to make this Chistmas wonderful! Emma and Shawn have been having a blast this past month with everyone and especially each other. Emma is doing WONDERFUL!!!! She is eating and playing, running around, laughing like crazy and giving her Daddy and me a run for our money! She is such a good girl and she has been so happy to be home. It has been really nice to have such a long break from all that hospital stuf. We will be going back on the 21st of Jan.Please keep our little trouper in your prayers. Please pray that the second transplant will go as smooth and easy and as quickly as the first one did. There are so many things that could go wrong that I could never list them all, but God will protect her and with everyone praying his hand will be in everything we go through.I truely believe there is some reason for all this and even if we never now what that is Gods plan is being fulfilled.Soon this will be all over and then the waiting will begin.10 years untill shes in the clear. So we all still have a lot of praying for Emma to do. Thanks again for all the prayers so far! We love you all, Love
Jenn and Shawn

Hello everyone
Thank you too everyone who takes time to write us a note. The time goes very slowly here. Emmas line ended up being infected a having to be pulled yesterday. But fortunately they did it in the e.r. and she was totaly asleep for the whole thing. Then early this morning they put a pick line in her arm, which saves her from any more sticking. So all in all it didn't end up being to bad.Now her little body can heal and we won't get stuck here any longer than normal. If i could only make myself fall asleep at a normal hour it would be great, I have been watching her sleep a lot and she is so beautiful. If not for the lack of hair you would never even know she was sick. Can't wait to see everyone pray that my Emma has sweet dreams (she has been sleeping a lot) and that her pain goes away soon. The meds can only do so much and she has been a little uncomfortable, but she has been a champ and even throws me a cute swinty-eyed smiled a couple times a day!
We love and miss you all
Love Jenn

Hello everyone
This morning was a little rough on Emma, but she was a champ. Her mouth is still better than expected, she still is not in to much from those sores. The other day it looked as though her broviac(her port)would have to be pulled do to infection, but after a day we(Mommy and Daddy) realized that it was areaction to the bandage that had been put on.Our prayers were answered and the dr.s desided to wait and see how it looked the next day. That was sat and everyday so far it has looked better. It would have been a long couple of days that would have included a lot of sticking and painfull blood drawing and eventually she would have had to have surgery to get another one put in.So it was a huge answer to prayer that we did not have to go through all that.I know there were a lot of you praying and still praying and it means so much to us. Hopefully we will be out of here on schedule and we will be able to cellebrate christmas with everyone. Love Jenn

Friday, December 3, 2004 12:21 AM CST

Last night Emma came down with a fever. It was pretty high ,but the dr.s are not worried . they have been telling us to expect it. Emma was just hooked upto a pca pump for her pain meds. She has been having a little more pain than she was ,but that to was expected. She is still a little joy to be with. We brouhgt a little christmas tree up for her last night and we put some little ornaments on it together.Emmas mouth sores(supposed to be the worst part of this whole thing)still are not really bad.In fact we still don't see any. Please pray that this continues to be the case. Also that her comfort level will be maintaned thanks jenn

Thursday, December 2, 2004 4:03 PM CST

hello everyone
We are doing well and are spirits are up. Emma is still eating a little and the dr.s are very happy about that. Today is Daddys b-day so mom-mom is coming to stay with Emma for a little while.Emma is excited to give daddy his gifts , she has been looking forward to it all day. What a little trooper she is! Sometimes I can't believe how much she goes through still smiling. She still loves the playroom and so far has been acting like this is nothing differant than any other time that she is here. We are very thankful for all the prayers. I truely believe they are the reason that she has done so well and even has the dr.s saying "wow!".We love and miss you all

dear friends
We have just been admitted for transplant. Well this is it the beginning of the end. We are very glad to finally be getting this started. Its going to be a long few weeks but hopefully we will have our two week break in time for Christmas. And then we will be halfway through this long process. So by the end of Jan we should be all done. Emma has had a great few weeks this month. She has been playing and running around like there was nothing going on at all. Emma and Judah went to see their first movie this week with Ruthie and I. We took them to see The Polar Express and they loved it!!! They did so good they both sat through the whole thing! It was so much fun.Emma will really miss Jude this month,he is her partner in crime. She has had a nice long break since her last chemo so she is stronger and healthy.Today will just be fluids and tomorrow will stsart the strict diet and chemo therapy.keep us in your prayers adn we will keep you updated day to day.thankyou love you all

firday was our last round of the regular cycle.it was a two day round.the first night was a rough one she was sick all night long.once they got on top of the nausea she was god for the rest of time.we came home on sunday, she did not want to come home she cried all the way home.she just wanted to stay and play in the playroom.the whole week she was just physically drained and not herself.we woke up this morning and she felt warm.well we were coming for a cbc today so we had the doctor check her out. she was running a 102 fever her heart rate was really high.so they admitted us this afternoon.the doctor said her heart rate was high because of the fever but it was above the norm for a fever.so they did a x ray on her chest to make sure she didnt have pnuemonia which came back neg.then her bloodpressure drop down so they kept a close eye on her for that for a while.so now they are waiting for the cultures to come back to see if its a viral infection or a bacterial infection.she is getting heavy doses of antibiotics to help clean this mess up.we just trying to get through this one so we get to transplant.then see where we stand from there. goodnight everyone keep us up in prayers and we love you all.

Friday, October 8, 2004 7:04 PM CDT

here we are again at the childrens hospital,we came wednesday for a cough the doctor told us theres nothing we could except pump her full of fluids and wait it out.well thursday night she came down with a 103.2 fever she.so we brought her to the e.r. they did blood work took xrays filled her up with fliuds and gave her some antibiotics.we were admitted and brought up to the floor around 400 clock this morning.at around 5 she had a blood transfusion.so now we are waiting on the cultures to see if anything is growing and what kind of infection we are dealing with.she has had a low grade fever for most of the day.hopefully nothing grows and we can go home tomorrow.she is doing well other than that she is playing and being herself for the most part.they unhooked her tubes so now all she wants to do is cruise around the hospital in her yellow taxi and drink coffee with.we will let you know more tomorrow when we get the final results.thankyou again for all your prayers and thoughts godbless and goodnight.

we've been home now for ten days and emma is doing really well.she handled this round of chemo really well and were really proud of her.no infections and no unexpected hospital visits.she's playing and keeping mommy, daddy and mom mom busy reading books.we here at the hospital today for a bone scan and a routine cbc.wednesday we return to the hospital for a cat scan, and pending on thhe results our next round of chemo is scheduled for the 20th of this month.if they find anything then she will have to go back in for another opoeration.but the doctor said he is leaning towards not having to go in and look.but we cant put our guard down yet but just keep the positive thoughts adn keep praying the results will come out negative.we have two regular rounds of chemo left then when she recovers from the fifth round they will hit her really hard with some heavy chemo that wont allow her to recover then do the t cell and stem cell transplant.recover from the transplant usaully anywhere from 3-6 weeks.thern do it again one more time.thankyou everyone for keeping us up in prayer we love you all.hey brother rich love you man.

Hello friends
Well we are back in the hospital. Emma ran a fever the other day while we were at her Dr.s apnt. We think it was due to a small bug bite on her leg that prob got infected when she scratched it. She has not been feeling very well because of the med she gets to help her blood cnts recover. As soon as they do we will be home again -God willing. Mommy is very tierd of this place, but I do want to thank daddy for all the great shopping! This past week or so has been really nice. Just being home and spending time with family helps me so much. I miss all my family on the other side too. X-man hope you had a great birthday! Sorry we missed it, hopefully we will see you soon.I have been wanting to up-date for a while, but our computer is not letting us on line at home. As soon as its fixed we will have more regular up-dates.
We are prob/ looking at a few more days here so goodnight for now hope to see everyone soon.
Love Jenn

Trying to be Mommy for 2 babys and only able to be with one at a time. Its been hard but, with the awesome help of my Mom its been do-able. Thanks mom a hundred times. What would I do with out you? You are the best! Better get this crazy room packed up,

Dana you and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers. We miss you and love you both. yesterday was good day for emma though we didnt get to go home.they found another infection so they decided to keep her in.they're treating it with antibiotics.they believe that the infection was caused by her line.she did really good, her pain from the shots are going away so no more around the clock with pain meds.she was unhooked from iv for most of the day so we got to do alot of walking around and exploring.she was smiling and laughing all day it was great to see her being her herself again.i took her to the cafeteria so i could get some coffee and when i order she said" me too daddy".so i order her a small cup of decaf coffee and we went outside to the little sitting area and drank our coffee and and fed the birds.it was a great day we played we were singing and having a great day.
shane, dana and family were praying for you guys stay strong!love you guys!

today was a good day little emmalee.she woke up this morning happy and playing with dad and ate a decent breakfast.she complained her back was hurting so i got a little worried that it might be her kidneys but the doctor said it's the shot we give her to replenish her cells.when the cells grow they make the bones expand and causes pain.she got a little sick this morning but not sure if it was the morphine or something else.she took a good nap from 12-4 and got up smiling and wanting popcorn and juice.the doc told us the infection in the blood would take 7-10 to treat with antibiotics so we could either stay in the hospital or have a home nurse come and hook up a iv drip and she could come home.we havent decided what we want to do,we want to make sure she is ready to come home so we're not right back there in couple days.the next chemo has been pushed up to tuesday and it is a two day treatment.the doct said she would probably fee bad for about 5 days then feel good for the next two weeks before her next treatment.so little emm is bouncing back from her first treatment and is startig to look good.god bles you all and thankyou for the thoughts and prayers.

Today Emma is still feeling a little down but she is starting to look a little better. She is still getting sick but that may be more from her pain meds than from the chemo. This morning I noticed a few hairs on her pillow. I think my baby is starting to lose her hair. Even though I thought I was prepared for that, it still made me cry. I just wish I could take this for her. It is so hard seeing her so sick.On the bright side, this will prob/ be the worst of it . The next rounds of chemo shouldn't make her as sick. Also I finally got a chance to talk to her Dr. about what stage Emma is in. He said she was in stage 2b. That is such good news. That brings her chances up a lot. I thouht he was going to tell me she was stage 4, so you can imagine my relief. We start our next round of chemo on the 6( I think that is friday), So I don't know if we'll even get to go home, but thats okay. I just want Emma to feel better . It makes no differance to me were we are.
We love you all,
Love Jenn

Hello friends,
Well another long day done.Emma had a transfusion today, her hemogloben went down to 7.6( anything under 8 = trnsfsn). She is still getting meds for her nausea and she is still getting I.V. fluids. As soon as she is feeling a little better we will go home. The transfusion should help her , and hopefully the nausea will go away soon. She is having a little pain in her G.I. track, but that is expected. She is sleeping peacefully now , she looks like an angel. Maybe tomorrow she will feel more like herself. Special thank you to our friends in south philly. We love you guys, hang on just a few more weeks!
God Bless,love shawn and jenn

thankyou for all the messages and prayers.just to catch you all up,emma went came home sunday evening.monday she seemed to be doing a little better but by tuesday and wednesday it seem to us that she was doing worse.she wasnt keeping fluids, eating or her medication down, along with nosebleeds.we called the doctor and he said to bring her in.they admitted us around 100am thursday morning.they have hooked up to iv fluids and putting the nausea meds in through iv.she's keping everything down now but seems to be very drained .the doctor said thye would keep her until she feels better and it could be a short visit or a long visit pending on her.they said they will keep an eye on the nosebleeds because when the platelets drop it could be a problem.we love you all and keep lifting our little princess up to the lord.godbless

Dear Aunt Mel
I've been thinking of you all morning. I wanted to say that you and your family are in my constant prayers. We love you all so very much and I wish there was something, just something.I know from our experience that there isn't. I pray that God will keep you strong and comforted in this time of trial. Our faith is also our hope, and knowing that you also are a strong christian woman gives me a lot of confidence that you and Uncle Paul,Elizabeth and Paul Jr will get through this.I can only take one day at a time and I know that you will to.The Lord is on our side and he will never leave us. We love you so much, if there is anything, just call.
Lovingly,
Jen

i belive today was the toughest day for emma and dad, poor little princess was sick this morning throwing up just as the doctor asked me if she was keeping everything down.the nurse brought in the nausea meds and she perked up a little.she just wasnt emma today she was not eating or drinking much at all today.after her noon nap she was miserable all afternoon she would go to the playroom for five minutes and would say to daddy ,bed daddy bed.she had her meds but wasnt up to doing anything.in the morning before her chemo we took a walk and the whole time she just wanted to go to the bed.i spoke with doctor and she said usally with chemo towards the end is always the worst.the nurse said its not out of the norm for her not to eat or drink.just pray for my little princess to get through this first five day treatment and bounce back quick.we are expected to go home on sunday if she can hold down her food and liquids.thanks again for all the support and prayers.goodnight

today started off a little sluggish.emma was not feeling well when she woke.she wouldnt eat or drink anything, and she never turns down juice.so the nurse gave her nausea medicine and after that she was fine.for lunch she had chicken noodle soup and asked for more when she was done.so we sent mom on a wild goose chase for chicken noodle soup.she started her chemo at eleven and finished it up around 130.then she started the second med at 130.she laid down for her nap and while she was napping grams pop pop and emmas two cousins binners and john john came to visit.unfortunately when she woke up she wasnt feeling good, but she got more of her nausea meds and next thing you know she's down in the play room playing with her cousins.thanks binners and john john for visiting.i guess all in all if we keep up with the nausea meds she does good.so day three was not as good as the first two but we got through it ok.
