We loved the article in today's paper! We can't believe how grown up you are, Jake! We have a lot of gratitude for your family and all that you have done for the efforts to cure childhood cancer. Your family has served as a wonderful role model for us and all families who have encountered the beast. We admire your bravery, courage and strength to forge ahead to improve the lives of others who face childhood cancer!

Hi Jake

My name is Jenna and I came across your site. U are a precious gift, and a special earthly angel. You are a courageous, strong, determined fighter. Thank you Kellie... for remembering Delaney in your prayers and for keeping Josh and Em in your thoughts too... It's so hard to believe we've ended up here, but I want to tell you something. I would change nothing. If we hadn't radiated and given the chemo Delaney got in 2002/03, I would have lost her then.

She has had that time with me while I've watched and felt other parents grieve, their hearts break, and that time has been more special to me because I have seen the alternative - the loss of those children made me hold mine that much tighter and love them that much more fiercely.

When Delaney leaves me and joins our God in heaven, you will hold Jakie and those you love even tighter - they will feel your love even stronger... there is grace in that gift. I believe it, I hope you do too!

Hi all. I finally upated Joshua's site, which then brought me to yours. I am sorry to hear of Delaney's relapse and will keep her in my prayers. Not something any of us want to hear about after 7 years of being remission. So not fair. Hope the boys had a blast with Halloween and have bags of candy to rot their teeth with. ha! I know Josh does, that's for sure. He went with a friend (probably for his last year) and had lots of fun. Hope the school year is going well. Hugs to all of you.

Hello Jake and family. I am "YaYa", Spencer Shore's grandmother. I just wanted to say thanks for keeping an eye on Spencer and signing his guest book. Jake, YOU are a light at the end of this very long tunnel for this very worried grandmother. I am so excited that you are cancer free for 7 years, and ever more, and that your scans are now annually! We pray and wait for that day for Spencer! Happy Belated Birthday (based on a previous post) and I will keep you in my prayers. Fondly, YaYa

Hi Jake and Kellie,
I just wanted to thank you SO VERY MUCH for giving us the names and CB/CP sites of some Ewing's survivors. Spencer's is also pNET. I am just so overjoyed to know there are survivors. I cannot thank you enough...a cool drink of water, candles in the window, light in a dark cave. Many thanks. Faith, Spencer's YaYa

Hi Jake, Kellie and Family,
I come to this site via a note you left on Jacob Ralston's site and finding you falls into the category of "Thank God". My 5 year old grandson, Spencer, was diagnosed with Ewings in July, 2008 after his eyelid began swelling and a nasty rare positioned Ewings tumor was found in the orbit of his eye. He is going in today for the 11th of his 14 chemo treatments (in Phoenix) and completed 25 proton radiation treatments at MD Anderson in Houston. His doc told them today he is NED and is in remission. His Mom, my daughter April, is just too scared to believe it. I spend my spare time searching CB for Ewing's survivors and VOILA, today of all days, THERE YOU ARE. I cannot tell you how thrilled, elated, overjoyed and grateful I am that YOU have passed the 5 year mark!! I cannot even imagine how that must feel...thank you for shining your light of hope for the rest of us! Your story and update brought tears to my eyes. Jake and Tanner will forever be amazing kids. They brought us together with so many similarities, their cancer, location, treatment and spunck for life. We are forever indebted to you for helping us give Tanner three more wonderful years of life. There are no answers as to WHY Tanner died and WHY Jake did not. Just like there are no answers as to WHY our kids got cancer and other kids did not. We love Jake, we love all of you. Celebrate his health, celebrate his life with out cancer, all of you deserve that. Please don't feel guilty!!! I know that Tanner would want her friend Jake to be healthy and happy. The Beresh house was one of her favorite places.(she wrote that in her journal) We will celebrate that with you, just like you would with us.
We love you!!

I am excited to hear that you are at this point in your journey. I will never forget 5 years ago when the Hamilton's told us about this family in Omaha that was so helpful to them - your entries have given us strength at just right times. Also, thanks for all that you do for children's cancer. Last year, I reached out to you for alternative ideas for Jace - I truly believe that they gave us the quality time with him that we desired. Thank you for that and Hugs from our family.
Enjoy this moment!!

We will be celebrating in Iowa for your miraculous journey!

The boys looked great last night at Candlelighters. I really understand what you feel with the survivor guilt. I know none of those families who have lost their child have anything but hope for all others fighting and in remission. That doesn't take away those feelings though. We'll be praying hard for Josh and Jake next Thursday! Hopefully you will be celebrating a wonderful milestone!

Okay to one of my absolute favorite families in the whole wide world ~ Yep, that's right..one family that we met through such a terrible time in both of our lives "Our sweet children fighting cancer". We don't get to see each other but maybe once or twice a year, but there is that bond-Our stories are different with the type of cancer, the age and sex of our children and yes the results are different of what are children are doing right now, but with all that set aside.....Our family faces sadness everyday without our sweet Haley here, but we do Celebrate her Life and we Celebrate with & for our sweet friends like Jake, Josh, Charlie & Morgan-the list goes on. We are so proud of their accomplishments, I pray that they continue to move forward with each day-knowing that they are HEREOS to so many people, they are our FUTURE & that they WILL ALWAYS have a special Angel watching over them.

As for the love & support we send to their parents...it is the same-we know how you must feel at different times, waiting for results, knowing that you always have the fear within & have faced this beast head on for your child & You yourselves have worked so hard each year to help raise money & the awareness to help so many other families-Please don't feel the guilt as you are truly deserving of where you are & where you are headed. Run after those crazy little boys & cherish each magical day. Those of us who are hurting and missing are children, come to sites like Jake's to feel the strength and regain the focus that is sometimes very hard to lose track of.

Okay, now that I went way over my limit and I'm sure have so many typos......know that we are storming the skies above for POSITIVE results next week.

Hugs & Prayers to all

Hey there Beresh's! It's been awhile since I've made a guestbook entry, but I just wanted to let you all know that we think about you alot. I love seeing all the new photos you post Kellie, and hear about all the new things happening with the Beresh's. Zach says he sees Jake up at Beadle once in awhile, but not very often. The other day he said, "Mom, I don't really get to see alot of the kids I used to at Wheeler anymore." It was kind of sad to hear that, but then he said, "it's cool though, cuz I can always say hi and they say hi back. It's kind of like I've got a whole new bunch of friends, but I can always keep my old ones too." I thought that was cool that he thought of that. It is true how some people come in and out of our lives, but they always seem to be friendly no matter how often it is. Zach said that the friend that that most reminded him of was Jake. He said "Jake is always nice to me, and always seems to have a smile on his face - even after all he's been through mom!" Amen!

Hi Kelly:
I tried to email you but I don't think that it went through. You and Liz are doing a great job on the annual Curesearch Walk so don't change a thing. On the PAC2 site that I joined, http://curechildhood.cancer.ning.com, there is a plan to try to get every big city to host a Curesearch walk on Sept. 13th which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. I personally think that we can do something else on that day and keep the date you have selected in June. June is better weather, kids are out of school and school sports, families can travel in the summer...plus Sept. 13th won't always be on a weekend. So, maybe a billboard or something for Sept. 13th. Just letting you know about this discussion. It is exciting that Omaha started the Curesearch walks and now maybe they will show up all over the country....I am also thinking that having everyone walking on the same day might be too much for the organizers at Curesearch in terms of logistics. People up north may not want to walk in Sept. as much, too. It is exciting to have over 1800 members on PAC2. Kate S. is on the Curesearch group. Dianne B. is on the Midwest Pac2 group with me. So far, I am the only one in Omaha. Someone in KC is interested in looking into starting a walk. Have a great week! So glad you are all doing well.

Ok Kellie, I really haven't fallen off the face of the earth, I am just a really terrible friend! I haven't checked in with Jake's site for a while. I figured, as long as I didn't check in, things are going to be A OK with you guys. So I was so relieved and happy to hear that they are better than OK, they are great! Good job Jake on those scans! So relieved! Probably not as much as you guys though hu! :) The walk sounds like a wonderful success! Maybe next year we can actually make it down for that. We just had so many trips to Omaha this year, we couldn't hardly make it when it wasn't for chemo. Next summer will be a totally different story though! :)

Hi Kelly,
It was great to see you last night! This morning, I decided to check out Jake's site. The statistics you share on childhood cancer research are dumbfounding to say the least. We will be there for the Curesearch Walk and will round up funds to support this mighty cause. Thanks for all you do to support families and help raise funds to cure childhood cancer.

Hi, Kelly and Steve,
I don't think we really knew each other well in high school...but I just saw you over at the Millard North reunion website. My heart sunk instantly when I noticed the caringbridge domain in your web address. I worked in the Child Life Department at Doernbecher Children's in Portland Oregon, in peds oncology. So I knew what 'caringbridge' meant. Clicked over to find out that Jake is doing wonderfully! What a great relief! I did a short workshop for a couple of weeks at Omaha Children's in '02. Great Hospital. Terrific program compared to the previous hospital I grew up around. Anyway, I know you don't know me but I'm always so happy to see a nice outcome on a caring bridge site. I know it isn't "over," but hope only great things to continue for your family in the future.

Loved the entry, Kellie. We are excited for the walk this year. I hope that TONS of money is raised. I get all warm in side just thinking about that $100,000 total last year. Who knows WHAT we can raise this year. Great to see you Sunday. It's so nice to just chat and relax! :)

Hi Kellie,
I just thought I'd say "hi" to you and your whole family. Do you remember me? My daughter Mara had ewing's/ppnet in her meninges in 2001. It's so great to see that Jake is doing well! The boys are adorable! I enjoy coming to this website occasionally and reading your updates. You are such a great person, and you are so right about the need for research funding being the most important thing!

I'm happy to say that Mara is continuing to do well. She's a senior in high school now and will be graduating and going off to college this year! (Gulp!) I'll say right now I expect to have some separation issues, but fortunately she'll only be an hour away, so we can see each other often and she can see her usual doctors if she has any problems. Hope you and your whole family have a great spring!-Anne

Kellie- Thank you for sharing your story with me. I am thankful every day that it is me and not one of my children. I can't imagine 3 boys! They are cuties!
Jake- you are an inspiration to all. I teach science and am actually teaching about the brain right now. I hope you don't mind but I will tell your story to my Anatomy and physiology students this week as it is an amazing story to be told!
God Bless!

I see you had eye surgery, Kellie. I won't know you next time I see you! I just had to start wearing glasses. YUCK. As Bette Davis says, "Gettin' old ain't for sissies." However, my purpose today was not to complain about me but to say thanks for the gifts for Hannah and all the thoughful messages this week. Your support means so much!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! Just extending the celebration a little bit. Hope you had a fantastic day!

There is hope in the Lord! Sorry I haven't stopped by for a long time. Know that I'm praying all the time even when I don't stop in.
Psalms 16:7-9 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Hi Jake, Kellie, and family,
What great news to be so healthy at the five year mark. I am so grateful that you contacted me when I previously posted, as you have been an incredible source of strength. You are in my daily thoughts and prayers, and I look forward to reading continued good news. A party all year long sounds like a good idea to me. Best wishes for the New Year 2008.

But I just wanted to say, "Yippee!!!!" for Jake's clean scans. 4 years out--that is just GREAT! And now you can do 6 month scans like the rest of us folks--Yay! Happy 2008!!! Jake - After seeing my Grandson Cameron Miller bowl yesterday at his cousins birthday party, I had to let you know how special you are to your family and friends. Some people say there is no such thing as MIRACLES, but you and Cameron are the answer to that. Have a great 2008 and give your mother an extra hug for all the time she gives to you and others keeping us upbeat and postive . Grandpa Larry
