Hi,,
I take care of a little one 3 years of age just like you...For confidentiality, I must keep our names private...I can tell you that this most precious 3 year old is nonverbal, beginning to use a computer to communicate and on a vent...It is a blessing for me to have this unique opportunity...Please pray that I am always careful to this child's special needs and that we get to know and trust each other. In Christ's perfect love....The Nurse

I was so excited to see the entry. We went to Chapel Hill in June for John's check-up and asked about Ethan. They said he was still being followed closely by pulmonology. I was relieved to hear that. Just on a fluke decided to check the website. What wonderful news. We think of you guys so often. So glad to hear no hospitalizations in 07 or 08. We have been 2 years (this Oct) hospital free. It's a wonderful feeling. John will probably begin more craniofacial surgeries in the next year or 2 - we will begin pretty major work (as if things that have already been done are not major). This year they told us we are looking at a 1-2 year timeframe for the next surgery. I dread it but know it has to be done. John started kindergarten this year also. He is going to a church preschool. Loves the social aspect, not crazy about any of the academics. His verbal apraxia is improving, but it is going to be a long road. Would love to hear from you guys. Certainly think of you often, especially when we are in Chapel Hill. Keep you all in our prayers constantly. What a miracle God has given each of us!

I check on you often and thank you for the couple of e-mail updates that we received from you. You are correct I did at least a double take when I went to Ethans page and saw the date! We are so excited that he has been doing so well...he is, as is your entire family a miracle and gift from God!
Take care and know that we think of you often.

Hello Ethan and Family,
Just stopped by to see if you have an update for us today. I know how easy it is to fall behind with updates when you are so busy with other things and caring for Ethan. I hope everything is going well for you right now. We just wanted you to know that we think of you often and that you are in our prayers. I hope that you have been able to spend some time together with Ethan and that he has been able to enjoy the summer a little bit. We are getting ready for our 2nd year of homeschool for Alexis - she will be in 1st grade this year.

Dear Christy,

My mother had to have surgery last Thurs. They had to remove alot of her intestine. Scar tissue was wrapped
all around it. They didn't have to relocate the colostomy
thank goodness. She is doing pretty good. I'll update
you later. Did Ethan get Holly's cards? She enjoys doing
them.

Ron and Christy,
I will definitely be praying for you and Ethan's recovery. Miracles are still performed by God,some people just don't believe in them anymore or in God even. We found out last week that our little girl's bone scan came back abnormal with two hot spots, one on her spine and one on her pelvic bone. We took her to church that same night and had her prayed for, people fasting and praying round the clock and the next day when we went back to meet with the doctors, they did another scan to see how big of an area we were dealing with and the spots were gone. PRAISE GOD!!! We are done with bloodwork and tests for now and I wanted to tell you that for encouragement and to share our faith with you. Please trust in the Lord and for His will to be done and whatever the outcome may be,it will be for His glory. Keep updating and I will keep writing and praying for Ethan daily and for your strength as parents.

Hi Christy, Ronnie, Ashelyn,Andrew & Ethan,
I hope you all are doing well.....Andrew & Ashelyn---are you counting down the last few days of school??????I know you are!!!!!Christy & Ronnie---I cant even start to comprehend what you face daily and now for these type of decisions. We are praying that God will just inflate this lung as we know He can. Everyday is just a blessing for us all. And so many times we all take it for granted. I used to get so hung up on silly stuff...now I just stop and thank God for everything. And your whole family has been such an inspiration to us. Christy, girl you are definetly one that can keep stuff in and still look AMAZING!!!!Have you looked at me the last few weeks...total wreck :)
I could always look at Ronnie and see that concern or worry in his eyes but Christy you always have it togther ...I would look at you and think "Man, she has got some strong Faith!!!" But I know you shared with me that you keep it all inside and have been like that since you were little. But Christy, if you ever want to talk, fuss, cuss, holler or just ride around...you call me because I'll probably feel like doing the same things!!:)
Please know that I have been neglectful in the past, but I do pray for ya'll alot!! God has been dealing with me......but I know HE Loves us all no matter what.
Take care and the next ballgame, ya'll sit on the other side!!!!:)
Love, Cassie

I love the b/w picture of the little man...I can't believe how grown-up he looks! We still call y'all the "Mobile PICU"...you helped us so much in those first days (now two years ago).

You're right, our state/federal system is messed up. It costs the govt a whole lot more money to put children in group homes/institutions, than if they'd just approve what we need to help our children. Go figure???

I hope everyone in your family is doing great! Much love to you all...kle

Hey guys. Hope all are well. We are doing rather well. John had his 6th surgery - this one at Moses Cone in January. It was minor compared to the others. They pulled 2 teeth & filled 9. They did it at the hospital because of his other medical conditions. Our portion of the bill, after insurance paid was $1000. We have just added them to the other bills. I know you all can appreciate that. We think of you guys often. Hope all got straightened out with CAP. Hope Ethan & everyone are doing great. Would love to hear from you. We are returning to UNC in June for the Craniofacial Yearly Meeting in June. Hopefully, not before then. Take care. You all are always in our thoughts & prayers. Hi Myers' Gang:
Just wanted to send my love your way with a BIG HUG. Christy, I was told that Medicaid (we have disability medicaid) and it is secondary to our BCBS (I need to know who you speak with there - I haven't gotten anywhere with them so far) but anyway, medicaid will pay for diapers at E-Man and Blaine's age. I've called our Doctor and asked her to write us an order for it through the Home, Health and Hospice. I did this yesterday afternoon so I haven't followed up yet but hope to hear from someone today regarding this.

Also, we are still fighting the CAP-MR/DD program - I was called in on Wednesday just for a renewal (to apease me) but I wasn't satisified so I have contacted the State Director of Mental Health - Mike Mosely. I explained that we were on this waiting list for 2 years and B was only getting older and our chances of recovering his brain are much better if we start early. I need someone to come in and take over our program in the evenings a few days a week. I HAVE to get B what he needs but with 4 other children - and 2 of them being his age (3 yrs and demanding) its difficult. Anyway, he is calling the Johnston County office and will get back with me - I told him I'd take it to a Hearing Level or whatever was needed. I have lost every bit of my Pride trying to get this baby the right services in place anyway. I've had to almost be RUDE sometimes but whatever it takes b/c I am B's only voice and I will fight til he is at least given the opportunity to recover.

If you decide to take it to the State Director level for CAP-MRDD, call the Customer Service number and speak with someone once and then you can tell Mr. Mosely's assistant that you have been that route and demand to speak with him b/c she tried to steer me another way and I told her that I would call until she put him on the phone PERIOD. I wanted to speak to him and no-one else. I wantedto tell him about my child and his needs and the SYSTEM in NC.

I'll let you know the results as soon as I hear!

I Love You All! You are in our prayers!

Love
The Philyaw Crew!

I thought I would check out Ethan's page this morning. I hadn't done it in a while. I hope everyone is doing well. I have been leaving messages at your house for some time, so next time I see you, don't say I haven't called!! I hope to see you soon.

Dear Christy and Family:
I am ssoo HAPPY to hear from you Lady. I am gonna make a trip up to see you when we finish this HBOT Sessions here at Miracle Mountain. I'm not sure if you know all about it but we are getting Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy twice a day for an hour each time for 20 days. We are attempting to retrain the brain and I have seen some improvements already in the first week.

Anyway, I need to meet Miss Emily Grace and I can't believe how Big the E-Man is and Andrew (they are both so handsome).

When you update our site again, please leave your number. I think of you often and een speak of you sometimes (just a few days ago) and then I saw your update.

We Love You All and Can't Wait to see you Again

Love
Wendy and Crew

I hadn't checked Ethan's page in a while, but was thinking of your family and decided to check. As I read your account of the Friday night that you found Ethan with no pulse or respirations, my heart was breaking for your family. I can't even begin to imagine what you all must have felt. I hope that things have improved since your last post, and I will keep you all in my prayers. God Bless You

He was not responding either when EMS got there. It sounds like Ethan is doing better. We continually keep all of you in our prayers.

What a wonderful report. So glad to hear Ethan is doing so well. We have certainly thought of all of you a tremendous amount lately. Have tried calling several times but the # I have just rings & rings. No answering machine. Have you changed your #? So glad to hear the baby is doing well also. Hope everyone in the family is doing well.

John is scheduled for surgery August 1 at UNC. He bascially has no nose, just a shell. Dr. Losken, the plastic surgeon, is going to do a cartlidge (sp?) graph from his ribs & build a nose for him. Right now the shell that he has is closing on his face - hence closing his airway. We have noticed recently his breathing is not doing as well as it had been. We are a little nervous because the trach just came out last August. Because of that, he is more at risk for problems with this surgery & may need to be trached again if he encounters problems. We hope not, but like you guys, realize if it has to be done it is not the end of the world. They were doing the surgery Aug 8 but Dr Drake will be on vacation that week so they moved it up a week so that she will be there. We really don't know how long we will be in the hospital. It just depends on how he does. It will be from Dr Loskens estimate a 2-3 hour surgery - which means it will take 3-4 hours (that has been our experience). If all goes well, I am hoping the most we will have to spend in the hospital is 2 nights. I am going to try to think positively. I don't know why, but I am more nervous about this surgery than I have been about any of the others. I think it is because he is getting older.

We are doing intense speech therapy. He says momma. That's about the extent. We hope it is only the result of the cleft & trach but will have to watch him. Developmentally, other than that, he seems fine. He is very happy.

We keep the Tigger you all gave him in the van. He just loves it.

Erin is busy. Has had alot of activities this summer. She is my non-clingy child. She needs to stay busy. John would be happy if I carried him around 24/7.

Would love to see you all or hear from you. My tel # is 336-851-5431. My e-mail is hights@nationwide.com

Take care & glad to hear things are going so well. God truly is wonderful. He has gotten all of us through some pretty rough times. I don't know how people survive without believing. I would be insane if I didn't believe.

Thanks so much for updating this page on Ethan. Take care of yourself and in your "extra" time keep an eye on your nephew. (Grant) haha (as if you had any extra time)! Love to all of you and I pray that God will continue to bless you for your faithfullness and you will continue to look to Him for guidance. Carol & David

Hey everyone...I was so excited to click on the website and see that you had updated. I am glad that Ethan is doing so well and that he (as well as the rest of the family) will be blessed with the new addition:) You will love the prone stand and I know that Ethan will too. Those things are great to have around. Have a safe trip to Canada and enjoy yourselves. I am sure that you will come home with friendships that will last a lifetime. Give my love to the whole family and tell them I said hello. Tell Ethan that I want him to be able to say Heather the next time I get to see him, so he better start practicing.

Just came across your web site and was very touched by your story. I will ask a special prayer for God to continue giving you the strength and comfort to get you through the good times and the bad.

It's very challenging to be a parent of a child that needs so much special care and attention. We were blessed to be the parents of a wonderful little girl who came to be known to most of us as Princess Madi. She fought a tough battle with Leukemia and we lost her this past October when she was only 2 1/2 years old. When she was diagnosed at 5 months, they told us she probably wouldn't live but a few months, so we learned to consider every day we had with her as a HUGE blessing. Losing her has been tough, but we realize how many lessons we learned and how much stronger we are as parents for our two sons because of what we all went through. We could NOT have done it without our faith and the knowledge that we WILL hold our little girl again.

God can and will give you the strength to handle all that you are going through at this time. I will keep your family in my prayers.

Sincerely,

Marian

Hi Ronnie Christy, Andrew and Ethan! I have had you on my heart today. I hope all is well. Even though I don't write I am thinking about you. It is great that the whole family can get out together. It has been great watching the Lord work in your family. I feel that the Lord is going use all you have been through as a way of you helping others go through the same experiences. When we go through bad times we know things will get better because Jesus is with us and you are an example of this. I am sorry I haven't been writing or around, the Lord has kept me busy. All of you take care and I hope to see you soon. Love You!!! GOD BLESS AND WATCH OVER YOU!!!

Hey Christy and Ronnie,
This is Michelle Rupard in Laurinburg, Linzi McEwen's aunt. We think of ya'll so much. Went back to UNC 3/12 for Linzi's follow-up and the docs were amazed. She is still in therapy, but attending school some also.
When we walked by the PICU waiting room, I was so full of emotion...happy that we finally "graduated" from that level of care, yet empathazing with those in there then.
So glad to hear that Ethan is doing so well. We asked about him at UNC and Terry said he had been there and discharged the previous week. His pictures are so cute.
Your journal is an inspiration. Stay strong!

Ronnie, Christy and family,
It was great being able to talk to all of you tonight and to hear Ethan's precious noises in the background telling me that he is doing much better. He truly is a gift from GOD, who is very blessed to have the parents that he has. You both are wonderful!!!! I know that when he looks at you with those beautiful blue eyes that he is saying thank-you for all that you do. GOD really knows what he is doing when he gives parents their children and children their parents. Ethan is very fortunate for such wonderful and loving family. Continue to keep your faith and know that GOD has a reason for everything eventhough it is hard to understand at times. I look up to the both of you and can only hope that I can be half the parents that you both are!!! I love you all and will continue to keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers. All my love, hugs and kisses, Heather

Happy Early Valentine's Day Ethan, Christy, and Ronnie! Speaking of nurses who are smitten with Eman, I am so sad I missed you during your visit to the hospital. I am so thankful that Ethan is growing so well and getting so strong. I keep praying for you, but you are doing such a great job. What a blessing to Ethan to have parents like the two of you. Give him a big kiss for me and tell him that I love him. Happy Valentines day, Ethan!!

Hi Christy & Ronnie,
It was so good to see Ethan last Sunday & see how much he has grown. He really looks good. He is a beautiful baby & so special. He has touched so many hearts. Christy, you & Ronnie still amaze me at how well you are handling this situation. I really look up to you both & admire you so much. You don't realize what an inspiration you are to other Christians & what a great witness you are for the Lord by your love & faithfulness & the way you are responding to this trial you have been going through. We love you all! I wanted to visit you all, but James is so tender hearted when it comes to Ethan. He loves that baby so much & he gets teary eyed when he sees him hooked up to those machines. (Please don't tell James I told you this!) Please don't think we don't love you or Ethan, because we haven't been to visit you since he came home, because we love you all dearly. We pray for Ethan & for you & Ronnie daily! I am going to send you a letter & share with you some scripture I read while doing my devotions over the past few days that I thought might be an encouragement to you. Remember, you still have a lot of your brothers & sisters in Christ praying for you & your family.

Becky

Hi All, I can't tell you how nice it was to see you all out and about Sunday, and to finally see Ethan. What a beautiful child he is! I can see why the nurses are so smitten with him. It looks like you guys are doing a great job with his care. I hope that things continue to go well and that you will have many more outings. God Bless You All.

Our little one Victoria is now a whopping 7lb 5oz & manages to take up most of the free time that we used to have. Went by the store today & things seemed to be going pretty good but they would be better with the both of you there again.

I don't want you to have to come back, but if you do, it would be GREAT if it was on the weekend Eman, since that is when I work! I'm glad that you are home. I looked today and saw that you aren't down there, thank goodness. It sounds like you are keeping your parents on their toes. Sorry about the home health problems. Christy and Ronnie, I am so sorry that Ethan is back in the hospital. I pray he won't have to stay too long. I know you are so frustrated and disappointed.Did you know that Kim Burch had her baby last Sat.[I think ]. The baby was a boy and healthy. Praise God! They were at church last night. The baby's name is Charles Larry Burch 111. They call him CL. Khristen turned 6 today! She wasn't supposed to live over 3 yrs. old. She makes some awful faces when people are holding CL I think she may be jealous! There are so many "little" mircles just like precious Ethan.I thank God I can see them. You hang in there! Glad to hear Ethan is doing well. John was in the hospital Monday & Tuesday. He started over the weekend with increased secretions & dry heaving (like he was going to vomit but couldn't). Friday night & Saturday night he vomited. Sunday Morning he woke up with a high fever. I gave him tylenol & advil during the day & managed it. I sat up with him all Sunday night because he could not sleep lying down (due to dry heaves). Monday morning at 4 a.m. he started spitting blood out of his trach. I had been in contact all weekend with UNC & our pediatricians office. I called about the blood & Dr. Henry called me back. She said she would advise going to the ER & getting him checked & getting a chest x-ray. I went fully expecting they wouldn't keep us. The chest x-ray showed viral activity. The dr said it had been a long time since she had seen a baby with that many secretions. They admitted him (& me). Come to find out, he didn't have RSV, but a close cousin. It was the same type of virus, it just didn't have a name or a test to confirm it. Monday night his fever broke & he was getting back to his old self -- very happy. The culture they took hadn't shown anything, but he still had a good deal of blood coming from the trach. My pediatrician wasn't considering antibiotics, but after talking to Dr. Henry, he decided to put John on antibiotics. Dr. Henry said that this is seen alot with trach infections. If the antibiotics don't stop the blood, we will have to go to UNC for a bronch. We were released Tuesday p.m. With his fever breaking & his appetite picking up & he was more responsive, it was safer to have him finish recovering at home than in the hospital. It looks like the antibiotic might be working. There are still traces of blood, but it seems to be getting better.
Hope Ethans appointment went well. Sounds like he is doing well. I am sorry about the problems with nursing. We are experiencing the same issues.
We continue to keep all of you in our prayers.

Hi Christy & Ronnie,
Thanks for the update. I am so glad you have Ethan at home now. I have been praying for you all EVERY day throughout the day when the Lord brings you all to my mind. I would love to go see you all, but I have had a sore throat for a couple of days, so I will have to stay away until that clears up. I would love to fix you all a meal & take to you, but I will have to wait til I get over this sore throat because I don't want to bring any germs over there. I have been praying for the nurse situaion every day as well. We will continue to pray for you. I will check back with you after I feel like I don't have any "sick" germs & set up a time when I can bring you a meal, okay? Christy, you & Ronnie have been so strong in your faith & in the Lord thru this. You are an inspiration to all who know you! Ethan & Andrew are sweethearts!! We don't understand why we go through firey trials, but we have the assurance that God is with us & will give us strength & whatever we need to cope & get through it. WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!

I am so pleased to hear that you are home. I can appreciate the stress you are feeling. We have had the same problems with the Home Health Agency with John. Make sure they understand that you want nurses who do not smoke & have not been around anyone who smokes. We had a nurse show up one night & she reeked of cigarette smoke. The agency told me there policy was no smoking in the home. I advised that even if she didn't smoke in the home, she reeked of cigarette smoke & I didn't want her handling my child. It seems like a no-brainer, but I would definitely clarify it. We continue to pray for your entire family as you make this huge adjustment to being home. Believe me, it does get easier.

Christy, Ronnie, Andrew and Ethan,
I am thinking of you today and I just want you to know that little Ethan has touched everyone's life. . .especially mine. I have always known that children are a blessing because of how hard the two God gave me were to get here. Prayer and God's timing and will are why they are here. This past year has been such a blessing to me because of the birth of our son. I just want you to know that I am so thankful everyday to be able to hold him and care for him here. You are right, people do take it for granted. It is the little things that mean so much. I know what it is like to see them in critical care and not be able to touch and hold because both of mine were that way, but it is nothing compared to the challenges you have faced. You have come through such a challenging year and yet you remain stronger than ever in your faith and it is because of you, that I find the strength when I am having a tough day. Little Ethan's life is a Miracle from God and you are truly blessed and you are blessing his life each day with the love you give to him. Please know today that I am praying for you, crying for you, rejoicing with you and most of all I am loving you each day. You have so much strength. God is fulfilling a special plan in the life of your family. I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,I hope Santa is good to you all. Keep your chin up and keep that wonderful outlook. I thank you for helping others to see that LIFE IS A GIFT NOT TO BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED!
Merry Christmas!
I love you all

Hi Christy and Ronnie! I haven't been able to see my boy lately because I have had bronchitis, but I have been keeping up with your updates. I am so thanksful that he is doing so well. I'll be working Christmas Eve a night shift (if I can stay awake) so I will come by then. If you are all asleep I will leave little Emans gift outside the door, but I'm hoping to get a kiss in! I think you have the best attitude about all of this. It's not where you celebrate Christmas, but who you celebrate with that matters. MErry Christmas! Love, Michele

Good Morning!
Hope you are well this morning. I just read your journal entry and I know that you wanted so badly to be home for the holidays. With the Love that you guys have for each other it will not matter where you are! I was excited for you too. I know that it will work out for the best because if you had been at home when he got sick with this fever, you would have had everything ready at home and then you would have had to head back and start all over again. I just hope his fever comes down and he is smiling again soon! I am thinking of you all this morning and praying that everything goes well for you to come home very soon. Give Ethan a kiss for me and Nathan says Hello again this morning. I will check on you again soon.

I love Caring Bridge and look forward to tracking Ethan's progress with it even after he leaves the PICU! It is so great to see all of the love and support that he and you have! What a little prince! All of us in the PICU are smitten and will miss you when you get to leave! See you soon-

What to do? What to do? Christy are you 32??? Happy Birthday! I know holding Ethan and anticipating his homecoming this week are the most wonderful gifts you have been given. I pray everyone stays well at your house so that he can come home. I feel much better. That Tamiflu did the trick. I did not think I could get over the FLU that quick. It didn't seem quick when I was running high fever. I know that this Christmas will be the best for all of you and I am so glad for you. It sounds like Ethan is doing very well with the trach. It must have been just what he needed at just the right time. You take care and give him a kiss for me. I will check back again soon.

Hi Christy & Ronnie,
Thanks for the updates. I'm glad you are feeling better Christy. We have been praying for you too. It's so exciting to see how the Lord's is answering prayer for Ethan & for your family. He is such a special baby! I know you are worried about all you have to do for Ethan when he gets home & scared you will do something wrong. But you know, God created Ethan & he knows exactly what needs to be done for him & how it should be done. All you have to do is pray before you do the procedure & ask God to direct your thoughts, & hands & help you to do everything exactly right & He will answer that prayer! I know He will, He has been so good to us & answered so many prayers & helped us in so many ways. I don't know what people do that don't trust in the Lord. I depend on Him so much! He has given you & Ronnie the grace & strength & wisdom you have need each day since Ethan has been sick & He will not forsake you now! We love you & we are continuing to pray for you.

HI Ronnie and Christy:
Great News on Eman. He is truly a Tough Little Man. Thank GOD for answered prayers. It's exciting to see GOD work and you are right - you are watching a MIRACLE take place right before your very eyes. Ethan is not following Medical Protocol accroding to what you tell me and I know it's becasue of your Faith in GOD. Sometimes, even though I've stood so Strong in My Faith with Blaine, I grow weary and your update has SNAPPED me back into reality. Blaine was assessed by a new PT yesterday and she was so Impressed with his alertness and interacting skills. I was pleased. They will start to work with him on Fridays (OT and PT) so he will be there from about 12:30 - 4:30 or so. Anyway, WHen are they talking about letting you guys go home? Hoipefully, you canbe home for Christmas - at the rate Eman is progressing along.....

Dear Christy and Family,
I just wanted to write and let you know that you, Ethan, and your entire family have been in our prayers. (I am Cassie's sister from Virginia). I just wanted you to know what an inspiration of hope, faith, and prayer that each of you have been to many of us. Our family and church family up here in Virginia have been and will continue to lift Ethan up in prayer. I have been on your website many times and was a little uncomfortable signing your guest book because I have never meet you-but I look forward to the day that I meet all of you, especially Ethan. I just wanted you to know that I think about and pray for you all oftan.
In Christ Love,

Hello Guys,
Thanksgiving was not the same without all of you and the fact that Mabel had to work. Connie and Lee made most of the food and did a wonderful job. I brought a couple of vegetables. Tommy and Lee Fried the Turkey. They did a good job. I hope you all got plenty of the left overs. I am glad to hear how well Ethan is doing and that they were able to inflate his lung. I hope he continues to get better so all of you can come home. I heard you put up a tree at the Ronald McDonald house for Andrew. You need to come home and help me put mine up, since that is something you know I am not good at. Taylor has been begging me to put up Christmas Decorations and I have been putting her off. I believe she should have been yours or Madonna's child. She loves to decorate and her mom does not. I hope everything continues to go well. Let us know if you need anything. Love Tommy, Denise, Taylor and Zackery.

Hey guys
We are now in Texas and this is the first time that I have had a chance to check this page since Tuesday before we left NC. I just want you to know that we are still praying for you and we love you. I hope Ethan continues to do as well as he is and that each day he gets stronger.

Madison is back in the hospital. She had a fever of 101 and had to be readmitted to Duke. So far they have not found any bacteria in her blood, so she may be able to come home tomorrow or Saturday. If the culture ends up showing bacteria, then it will be about 2 weeks before she comes home.

We will continue praying for your whole family. We love you and know that God is still on the throne!!

To all of the love ones of little Ethan,You all have been in our thoughts and prayers more than you will ever know. There is just one thing to remind us all of that is "God makes NO mistakes"I know your roads have been rocking, but just to know that God is with us at all time in the vallies and on the mountain tops, knowing the mercy he has on us,God hand picked the two of you to lend little Ethan to for his glory,he knew you two would do just that,Always remember prayer is the answer to all things, life is rough, but to know we all will be made whole will get you through day to day,I know seeing all the children in this world suffering is so painful, but to know they are here for a reason does not make the pain go away but to know that God's Will will be done,it will be worth it all.We love you all dearly, always in our prayers. With Lots of Love In Jesus Name Kim,Charles, katie, kassidie

I just wanted to tell you Hello and I am thinking about you! This morning on my way to school I was thinking about ethans surgery and how much it is going to change the way things go around our house. I know sometimes i don't show it but I LOVE YOU so much. You have done so much for me and I THANK YOU. Saturday when I spent the day with Ethan it was GREAT he is such a GOOD BABY, I sat there and looked at him and wondered how something that precious could be so sick. He looks so sweet laying there and smiling and kicking his feet. When i went up there last night he was just laying there watching his Barney tape. You know that you are in everyone's prayers everywhere and you are in my mind all the time. You are two of the STRONGEST people i know and i am glad to say that I am part of your family.. Thanks again for everything I LOVE YOU SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!! Give EMAN a KISS for me!!

Ronnie, Christy and Family,
We check on your family daily and appreciate the updates when time allows. Please know we are praying for your family and especially for Ethan. Gary and I had a special prayer for Ethan last night and we hope the surgery will be very successful. As our family gathers for Thanksgiving, before saying grace for our meal, I plan to have a prayer of Thanksgiving for Ethan and how he has touched so many lives and that God's will be done. The number of visits to this website is just one indication of how many people's lives he has touched. We are praying for you and Ronnie too. It takes a great amount of strength to face sickess of a loved one day after day, and of course there are some days it is hard to be strong. You may be tired of hearing it but those are the times you have to rely on friends to get you through and more importantly, God. While distance has not allowed us to keep in touch physically, prayer knows no distance. Kiss Ethan and Andrew for us.

Love, Gary, Jo, Myers and Christa

(by the way Christa is Myers' girlfriend. She is living with us until she has been a resident for a year, then she will join Myers in attending ASU. Good morning guys.
Even though I never write I pray that you know how much I am praying for your family. I really appreciate the updates on Ethan. I check his page at least twice a day. I just wanted to share something with you. There have been so many times when I read the updates that I think, "Lord, why is this happening?" I wonder how strong would I be? Then Lord reminded me today that it is in our weakness that He makes us strong. On the way to work this morning, I was thinking of your family. I wondered what you have planned today...I wondered about your thanksgiving and how it will always be a special one. I was thinking of the surgery tomorrow and how hard the day would be for all of us, especially you guys. My radio was on...88.7 I think. It was like the Lord said to me, "Listen." I turned up the radio and this was the chorus that was playing...
"God will make a way, where there seems to be no way.
He works in ways we cannot see, He will make a way for me.
God will be our guide, hold us closely to His side.
Love & strength for each new day, He will make a way, He will make a way..."
Again, I prayed through sobs. Know that I will be lifting you all & especially Ethan up before the Throne in the next couple of days. Christy, you and Ronnie, are such a blessing to me. You both are 2 of the strongest people I know, but I know it's not your strength you are living off of. It's His. May God comfort you and give you the peace that only He can give. Remember, He is STILL on the Throne. We love you.

Hey Christie & Ronnie
It was so good to talk to you today. You are on our church prayer list. I pray that God guides Dr. Drake & the team on Wednesday with Ethan. I will continue to pray for your entire family - as I can truly appreciate the toll this situation can take on the entire family. Please call me & let me know if there is anything I can do to help. We are fortunate to have these special gifts from God. I pray that he guides us with his will. Please try to give Ethan extra hugs and kisses tomorrow & Wednesday. I held John all morning before his surgery and prayed. I feel it gave us both a sense of peace. I pray that you and Ronnie have the same experience. My prayers are with you and your family.

Hi Ronnie and Christy:
Just wanted to share a scripture with you that helps me when I get relly down about the things that we've had to endure with our babies. Romans 8:18 says, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that will be revealed in us."

I have this scripture above my desk at work to remind me that God is in Control - no matter what it looks like to us in the natural.

I love you and will continue to pray for you,

Dear Christy and Ronnie,
Oh how your family has been on my heart for months. Know that your family is constantly in my prayers. Christy, I understand the pain of losing a loved one...for my brother went to be with the Lord this past January. The grief process is hard, not easy, and individual. The passage John 16:17-33 was a comfort, as well as Is.40:31. God is truly a God of Comfort! Rest in him. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." -Matt. 11:28. Lil' Ethan is in our prayers also. Psalm 139 is so beautiful in portraying Christ's love for each one of us and for lil' Ethan. Remember that his Heavenly Father loves him so very much and is holding Ethan tenderly..."for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful;I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." (vs.13-16)
Here for you,

Hey Christy & Ronnie,
Thanks for the update. I know you have been busy & have a lot on you. I've been praying for you that God would give you a double portion of strength & comfort you & your family. It's a great comfort to know your Grandmother is with the Lord, it's still hard to lose her because you love her so much & miss her. But the Lord will give you the comfort & strength you need each day. It will get easier with time. My father died in 1991 & my mother died 4 years after he died. This was really hard for me. I still miss them so much even tho I know they are with the Lord. Whenever I'm dusting & look at my Mom's picture, I just start crying because I miss them so much. We are still praying for Ethan & all of you daily. I have been praying that Ethan would be able to be home for Christmas & all of you could be together as a family at home. We are praying for wisdom & discernment for you, Ronnie & the doctors in making the right decisions involving Ethan's care. WE LOVE YOU!!! If there is anything we can do for you all, please let us know.

Hey guys,
I just checked the website and it is wonderful news that Ethan's lung is better. It was good to see you Saturday night and to be able to talk. I told Allison about the program you told me about and she had already filed for it about 3 weeks ago - maybe you will both hear something soon. I sat behind Crystal last night and she had Andrew with her. You can tell that she loves him so much. He was asleep in her arms and she just kept kissing him and rubbing his head. It was so sweet. We continue to check this site everyday and we will continue to pray for your whole family. We Love You!

Hi Ronnie & Christy:
We were Blessed to be able to come out to Eman's dedication. The song was beautiful. We really enjoyed it. Thank GOD for impressing a spirit of Intercession in your church family that night for Eman. I was really moved by the Congregation's reaction that night. Ethan is already a little heartbreaker. He's a Baby Doll and God has really Blessed you with him.

I will take Blaine back to Duke PICU one day and show Dr Grayck what God will do and my prayer is that my dear friend Christy will be going with me taking her blessed little miracle.

I thank yopu for your prayers of strength and I pray the same for both of you. GOd strengthen you physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally and Bless you financially. I Pray for God's strength for Ethan as he continues to be the little fighter God called him to be.

P.S. I guess maybe that is why we met at Duke. GOD knew we'd bond like we have and need each other's support.

I am still believeing GOD for some Miracles.

We Love You Guys

Hi Ronnie and Christy:
Just another note real quick to let you kneo that I am sending this web site and Ethan's prayer request out to all the people I know are truly serving GOD so they can touch heaven for your little man. I feel strongly that Ethan and Blaine will play together one day. Remember, we promised each other when you left me at Duke that they would.

Anyway, I am expecting the Most from GOD......

Don't forget to call me Christy about the Dedication!
Blaine will have his new equipment then.

I Love You Guys

Here is our Song - You brought this to me when my Blaine man was at his worst and he prevailed. GOD is in Charge.

So many times I've questioned certain circumstances or things I could not understand
Many times in trials, weakness blurs my vision and my frustration gets so out of hand
It's then I am reminded I've never been forsaken, I've never had to stand the test alone
As I look at all the victories, the Spirit rises up in me
It's through the fire my weakness is made strong

He never promised that the cross would not get heavy and the hill would not be hard to climb
He never offered our victories without fighting but He said help would always come in time
Just remember when you're standing in the valley of decision and the Adversary says give in
Just hold on, our Lord will show up, and He will take you through the fire again

I know within myself that I would surely perish, but if I trust the hand of God, He'll shield the flames again (again)

He never promised that the cross would not get heavy and the hill would not be hard to climb
He never offered our victories without fighting but He said help would always come in time
Just remember when you're standing in the valley of decision and the Adversary says give in
Just hold on, our Lord will show up, and He will take you through the fire again

So just hold on, our Lord will show up, and He will take you through the fire again!

I Love you all

God Still Answers Prayers. He just does it in his time not ours. This is great news and I am praying that you will be able to go HOME at the end of the week. HI Ronnie, Christy, Andrew and Ethan:
I wake up about everyday with you guys on my mind. I pray for God to continue giving you strength to get through all this. You are both doing wonderfully. God sees your hearts! I wish that I could go up and relieve you sometime but more than that, I want you to go live in Dunn. That is Wonderful news about the Eman's lungs. I pray GOD to blow his very own breath through those lungs and the flow gets stronger and stronger as Eman gets stronger and stronger. He has already gone against normal protocol - he is an exception to the medical rules of NM and it's because of your prayers and faith. God hears your cries, even when we think he's not listening. He's working in the background and he does everything in HIS time. But he's never TOO late...

Christy,
You and I should be going out together one day telling the world about how GOD saved our babies. Blaine was resuscitated after 49 minutes of Cardio-Pulmonary arrest and Ethan BEAT and overcame a VERY rare form of MD called Nemaline Myopathy. GOD is still in the Miracle Working Business - he's the same today as he was yesterday. This is my prayer!!!!

They are 2 of the Strongest Little Men around here.....

GOD Bless You ALL

Dear Ethan: I know right now your life seems so tough, but God is tougher than any problem you will face. I know that God is smiling as HE watches HIS smallest angel fight Satan with all the will and power GOD has given him. You never give up on God, and God will never give up on you. I urge your family to read Psalms 51 daily and watch the power of our LIVING GOD. My heart and prayers goes out to you and your family and I know that God is still in the miracle working business. HE healed me from being paralyzed in 1998. GOD has healed you already. We know this by faith. We as christian walk by faith and not by sight. So Ethan I calim your healing RIGHT NOW in the name of Jesus.

I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how our day up here at the hospital has been. He had a really good night he didn't wake up at all until the nurses came in to do their routine check on him. They said that they can hear the air going through the lung. We just finished giving him a bath. He looked so cute sitting in that basin with his legs hanging off the side, he was relaxing. He pulled out his I V and they are about to come and put it back in. Other than the I V everything has been going very smooth. Love Ya Lots!!!!

Hey Christy,
Just a short note to say thank you so much for taking the time to come and see Collin. You and Ronnie are such an inspiration to me. Even with Collin being as sick as he has been lately, I still consider myself blessed. He was released today with medications and appts. in Chapel Hill next month.
When I was pregnant with Caleb, the doctors thought that he had down syndrome and I was really upset, but preacher made a statement to me that helped me alot. He said that if GOd chose to give me a sick child that meant that he thought I had what it would take to nurture and care for that better than someone else could. I feel like that's how He feels about you and Ronnie. You guys have handled this with so much grace, faith, and dignity. You truly deserve more rewards than I could ever hope for. You are daily in my prayers. Thanks again for what you did for Collin.

I just wanted to tell you hello and that I LOVE YOU! Last night before you got home I was listening to the radio while i was cleaning my room and a song came on that made me think about Ethan and yall. I started looking at his picture that i have in my wallet and fell to my knees crying and praying that God will help our little eman. Like i said in my letter yesterday I am so thankful to be blessed with the two strongest people i know. You guys have done things for me because you wanted to not because you had to and i thank you so much for that. As i sit here in the hospital room with him I realize how some people take things for granted sometimes. He is just sitting here watching TV as usual and looking at his hand. Like always he is full of smiles and those big blue eyes just brought the biggest smile to my face whenever i walked in. The first thing i said when i walked in was hey you little punkin head and he got the biggest smile and started kicking his legs. Nicole said that he had a great day and a great night so all we can do is pray that things will stay that way. Well i am going to go so i can spend some more time with EMAN!!! I sent you a note on here the other day, but I have not seen it. I hope you got it. I just want to tell you that I have been thinking of you throughout every day. Whenever the Lord brings you to my heart no matter what I am doing, I stop and say a prayer for all of you. Before I started typing this, I prayed and cried and asked God to give you strength, comfort and peace. He will do that, I know it for sure. He is still in control and even though we don't understand, He has a master plan. I can't even imagine what you have gone through. You both have been a great inspiration to us with your strength and your ability to keep pressing on. We love you! Thank you for updating Ethans page. When we look at a field with alot of sheep, we see just that, sheep. The shepard though, he sees each one seperately. The little one with the limp.. thats Joe. The one with the black ears, thats Sam. When our Shepard see's us, he is seeing persons, not people. That one there, with the amazing stregnth, thats Christy and the little one there with the beautiful blue eyes, thats Andrew. The man over there with unbelievable patience and endurance, Thats Ronnie... and the tiny precious one, right there with the smile that melts every heart who see's it... We have called him Ethan (not Emily). He is watching you, knowing you, loving you and giving you the grace to endure. We love you and are praying for you MUCH. Thank you for the entries. Beep me! Hi Christy & Ronnie:
Just wanted to send a note to let you know you are on my mind and in my prayers. I do not know anything about Nemaline Myopathy - other than what I've read, however, I do know how it is to have a very sick child and I know the pains that you have to feel. I pray God to envelope you all with his love and please do not ever hesitate to call me if you need me. I am hoping we can all get together soon. Blaine goes in next Friday to have a Traction made for his legs so we will be spending the day at Duke - Hopefully you guys will be in Dunn! I am praying and have alot of people praying for "E-Man".

I cannot even begin to imagine what ya'll are going through. We are praying for your family that the LORD will give you the grace, peace, strength and the encouragement that you both need to get through this. Also, we're praying the doctors and nurses will have the wisdom they need to help them care for Ethan. Ya'll are very special to us and if there's anything we can do to help in any way please don't hesitate to call on us!!! Our home # is (919)207-0037 and my cell is (919)625-7247. We will continue to pray for Ethan and trust and believe that the LORD has the power to heal him. "There's no problem too big GOD cannot solve it." This saying has alot of truth in it. WE LOVE YOU BOTH
Paul and Teresa

Hey girl!
I just wanted to check on new updates on Ethan. I pray that this new medicine will work for him. I know what you mean about praying for God's will and not ours. I have had a struggle with that also with Madison. She will go on Thursday and Friday this week for testing to see if she is in remission, if she is not that is not a good sign. But I know in my heart that it is not my will but God's. We keep you in our prayers and we love you all. Tami J

Christy & Ronnie,
Just checked the site to see how things are going. We are with you in spirit, if not in person. I know it is heartbreaking to watch your baby go through everything Ethan has been through. Thank you for the updates. We love you.

This is a wonderful idea & we know (in time) will relieve some stress from having to replay the details of Ethan's day to everyone who calls to question you guys. We are (and have been from the very beginning) praying for all of you. God still leads us to Psalm 91, but also to Psalm 22:1-4. No matter what the outcome, God IS in control & one day maybe we'll all understand "why". As you already know, we are here for you...whenever, where ever, & for whatever you need us for. We love yall & thank God for allowing us to call you our cherished friends. Hugs & Kisses to sweet little Ethan!
