Wednesday, November 27, 2013 10:11 AM CST

Marc passed away this morning and is at peace. He is with the Lord and an angel looking over us all. I know how much he felt and appreciated all of the prayers and support over the years and loved you all.

Monday, November 25, 2013 1:09 PM CST

Just wanted to update you all on Marc. He's a fighter. He is hanging on and really trying. We know he is close. He is resting comfortably and receiving wonderful hospice care. He is still at Benedictine Innsbruck where he will stay. We appreciate all of the visitors, prayers, and support. He knows you are all praying for him.

Thursday, November 21, 2013 8:25 PM CST

Marc is back at Benedictine after his stay at Unity. He had some issues with his heart, as well as blood clots in his lungs. He is very weak, and very tired. He will be moved out of short term care...he is just unable to participate in physical therapy, and into long term care unit. We are unsure today where he will be, but will update when we know. Please know that he feels your support, love, and prayers.

Sunday, November 10, 2013 8:32 AM CST

Marc has been at Benedictine Innsbruck Rehab actually making progress, however last night he had a setback. He was brought to Unity via ambulance after his breathing became very shallow and was unresponsive. He was also having some chest pain. He is in ICU at Unity, he is conscious, and we are waiting for more news after the dr. sees him. He knows and feels all of the prayers going out to him, and appreciates it.

Saturday, October 26, 2013 3:15 PM CDT

Marc is currently in the hospital. He was pretty weak and dehydrated. He was in a car accident earlier in the week, and suffered from a fall. He is receiving fluids to get re-hydrated and getting some rest. His body is very weak. We are not sure yet when he will be discharged, but probably going straight into a nursing care/rehab facility to receive physical therapy to try to get some strength back. Chemo has definitely taken it's toll on his body, and at this time we are unsure of what the continued plan will be. He is due for his 3 month MRI this week, so we will see what that shows. Marc really appreciates everyone's continued prayers and support. He knows he has quite a large prayer support network, and is so grateful. We will continue to keep you all updated.

Wednesday, September 4, 2013 2:35 PM CDT

Marc just went in for a scan and results. The scan showed no new growth. We couldn't be happier. We appreciate your ongoing prayers and support.

Sunday, June 2, 2013 11:56 AM CDT

Marc had a scan a week ago that showed a small area of re-growth. They are not able to do surgery due to the location, but are able to do radiation again. He will start this week, as well as continue on the same chemo regimen he has been on. Saying prayers that the combination of the 2 does it's job!!! Marc calls it the "seek and destroy" mission. We appreciate your continued support and prayers!!!

Thursday, December 6, 2012 10:40 AM CST

We got a wonderful early Christmas gift....Marc was given the great news of a clean scan!!! He continues his chemo regimen...and is looking forward to a wonderful Christmas! Thank you so much for your support and prayers....Merry Christmas and God Bless!!!!

Tuesday, December 4, 2012 11:25 PM CST

Marc has an MRI in the morning, and will be meeting with his oncologist in the afternoon, with chemo in between. We would greatly appreciate your prayers for a clean scan....it would be the best Christmas gift we could ask for! Thank you all!!!

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 4:05 PM CDT

Marc had an MRI today and an appt. with his oncologist. His surgeon was there also, who got to deliver the news to him that his scan was clear....no new growth. He will continue on his same chemo routine...and has had no side effects, and feels good. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

Saturday, October 6, 2012 9:48 AM CDT

Marc continues to feel well during his new chemo regimen. He has another MRI coming up next week. He appreciates your prayers and support. We are praying for a clean scan and a uneventful visit with his oncologist :) Love to all!

Tuesday, July 17, 2012 9:44 PM CDT

Marc was moved from ICU today into regular room at Abbott. He had alot of visitors, and enjoyed some meals. He feels good and is anxious to recover and get home with Elizabeth. Thank you for all prayers :)

Monday, July 16, 2012 9:29 PM CDT

Just spoke with Marc/Dad on the phone....he's doing great. He's in ICU, and the only patient with a phone :) He will be moved tomorrow. He thanks you all for your support and continued prayers.......

Monday, July 16, 2012 3:14 PM CDT

Marc finally woke up from surgery! He is talking and giving the nurses a hard time :) He should be out of ICU tomorrow.....he's doing really well.

Monday, July 16, 2012 12:26 AM CDT

Marc just came out of surgery and is currently in recovery. His Dr. said the surgery went well, and he should be out of Abbott on Thursday. The tumor was very small and in same location (about an inch long), and he removed all he could see. We will find out what the course of action will be with chemo when Marc has his appt. with his oncologist. Thank you for your continuing support and prayers.....it means the world to Marc and the whole family.

Thursday, July 12, 2012 11:56 AM CDT

Marc was just scheduled for his surgery early Monday morning. I will update after he is out of surgery. Please say prayers for a smooth and easy surgery, as well as a speedy recovery. Marc is positive and wants to get in and take care of this. Thanks to all for the support!

Wednesday, July 11, 2012 3:27 PM CDT

Marc had his 2nd scan this morning and met with his oncologist. There was a small grey shadow in the area where the tumor was removed which signals a small re-growth to his dr. and surgeon. They recommended surgery, which he will be having early next week to remove this growth. Marc handles surgery very well, and is going into this with a positive attitude. We also know that it took two surgeries to wipe out his lung cancer...so here we go! Please keep your support and prayers going for a successful surgery, and a speedy recovery. Thank you again!!!!

He is feeling no side effects from either , except for the occasional desire to take a nap :) Both treatments will be completed on May 1st. There is a 3 week layoff from any treatments then, and an MRI scheduled for May 23rd. He will get the results the same day from his oncologist, which Marc feels will be positive results!!! As always, thanks for your support and prayers...we feel them, and they are much appreciated. There are many people out there who beat this!!!!

Saturday, March 24, 2012 9:59 PM CDT

Marc is at the end of his first week of chemo and radiation, and feeling great. He has had no side effects. Everyone's good wishes and prayers are helping! Thank you all for your support :)

Tuesday, March 13, 2012 11:06 PM CDT

After a week of recovering at home, and going a bit stir-crazy, I was able to get the staples removed from my incision, and meet with my new neuro-oncologist. I could not have been more pleased meeting Dr. John Trusheim. The dr. gave us our plan of action with my treatments, which will be radiation combined with chemo (temodar). I will be starting those next week. I left very encouraged by his positive attitude and to feel like I have a chance. I heard no "downer" terms used, only words of hope. At times in life, we all meet someone who, after talking with him/her, we say that person knows what they're talking about. This is a man who cares about me and really wants to help, and has the ability to do it. When I went for labs afterwards, the nurse also was encouraging saying that she draws from alot of brain tumor patients, and there are a lot of survivors out there! We are celebrating every little word of encouragement. We cannot tell you how much your love, support, and prayers mean to us. I feel good tonight and ready to take this on!

Monday, March 5, 2012 9:06 PM CST

From Marc:

In a CT scan, a mass was found on Wed. night on my brain. I had a biopsy done on Thursday, and the surgeon removed two tumors proclaiming that "I got all that I can see." These were not metastasized from the lung cancer, they originated in the brain. In a week, the staples will removed and I will be able to meet with my neuro-oncologist to plan a course of action. In case there is any cancer left over, we will be doing chemo and radiation to "search and destroy" if anything is hanging around. I feel good about things, because of the fact that I was told the great words "I have a chance." This is all I can ask for is a chance. I have a great support staff praying for me constantly and I solicit your prayers and your good wishes. The battle isn't over. I have beaten lung cancer and I'm going do this too! Thanks for your support and your care.

Marc and Elizabeth are back from their trip to Los Angeles. It was a well needed and deserved vacation for them. They stayed with their daughter Linda and her husband Tony and grandaughter Madelyn. Marc and Tony had a "ball" at Dodger Stadium seeing a game. There was a day spent at the ocean, and had the treat of watching a school of dolphins swim by. They all went to some fun restaurants and enjoyed the beautiful LA sun and beautiful scenery. It was a wonderful trip for them!

Saturday, July 24, 2004 2:21 PM CDT

Marc continues to feel well, and so grateful that his last CAT scan was clear. He and Elizabeth are leaving next week for Los Angeles to visit their daughter Linda, and Tony and Madelyn for a few days. Some fresh ocean air is just what they need after this past year! Who knows...maybe they will end up buying a beach house in Malibu!!!!!!!

Sunday, March 14, 2004 11:06 PM CST

Marc had his usually 'Sunday after chemo' not feeling so great set in today. He knows that this will be the last round, so it's a bit easier to take. He is anxious for this week to be over, and to be feeling better and get on with radiation. Thank you all for your support and prayers.

Thursday, March 11, 2004 4:30 PM CST

Marc had his last chemo treatment this morning! The nurses said "This was his graduation day," and presented him with a coffee mug and round of applause and a john deere cap. (Marc's dad, Julius, a former john deere dealer would have been proud) The past 2 treatments have been tough, so he definitely is looking forward to this part of the treatment being over. He will start radiation treatments in about 2 weeks. Thank you for all your support and prayers. Marc so enjoys reading your messages, and appreciates them all.

Marc has not felt great the past two days. He has been running a low fever and been taking it easy. We are hoping that the fever will go away and he will be ready to go for his last chemo treatment next Wednesday. Thank you for your prayers and support!

Wednesday, March 3, 2004 12:15 AM CST

Marc is feeling much better, still gets tired in the afternoon. He is very anxious to get his last chemo treatment over. He will start radiation about two weeks later and go every day for 6 weeks. He will have a cat scan in between chemo and radiation, so please pray for a positive result! Thank you for all of your support!!!!!

Friday, February 27, 2004 3:07 PM CST

Marc has been feeling quite a bit better the past two days. He is able to eat, and has been back to work. Although he is still quite tired, it feels good for him to get out of the house and to do what he likes to do best...be around people! Thank you for your prayers!

Wednesday, February 25, 2004 1:04 PM CST

Marc went in this morning and had his bloodwork checked, and all is ok. He also met with the radiology oncologist, and he will be starting radiation in the beginning of April. The treatments will be Monday through Friday for six weeks. This will give him the chance to complete his last round of chemo, and for his white count to come back up. He's finally feeling a little bit hungry today....so that's a good sign. Thank you for your prayers and support.

Monday, February 23, 2004 1:10 PM CST

Well Marc WAS feeling good, but this round is much like the last. He's having a hard time with eating, and is just not feeling well. He's taking it easy and resting. Thank you for all of your prayers.

Friday, February 20, 2004 12:33 AM CST

So far so good on Marc's 3rd chemo treatment. He had the treatment on Wed., just resting, eating light, and hoping that things don't turn for the worse over the weekend. He is very excited to only have one more left. He will be meeting with a radiologist in the next couple of weeks to discuss treatments. Thank you everyone for your prayers and support.

Tuesday, February 17, 2004 11:18 AM CST

Marc will be having his 3rd chemo treatment tomorrow. He is anxious to get it over with, and hopes that he feels better this round than the last. We'll keep you updated! Keep the prayers coming! We so greatly appreciate your support!!!!!!!

Monday, February 9, 2004 12:38 AM CST

Marc is definately feeling better and even ventured outside to shovel some snow this weekend. He is able to eat normal foods again, and very thankful that those few rough days are over. He has about 9 days of feeling better and then takes on round #3. Thank you for your support and prayers!

Friday, February 6, 2004 1:40 PM CST

Marc was feeling better yesterday and went into work for a while. He's also very happy that food is starting to agree with him again. At this point we have two chemo treatments down, and two more to go! Thank you everyone for all of your prayers and support!

Wednesday, February 4, 2004 1:25 PM CST

Marc went in this morning for his bloodwork, and all of his levels were ok, as well as his blood pressure. He is still not feeling great, and a little weak. He is still playing with what foods he can eat that will sit well with him...right now baked potatoes are the staple! Thanks again for your very nice notes and prayers.

Monday, February 2, 2004 1:25 PM CST

Well..the 1st and 2nd day after Marc's 2nd treatment was going well, but unfortunately that is not the situation now. This 2nd treatment is taking quite a toll on him. He is really not feeling well, pretty sick and weak, and not really able to eat...basically spending alot of time laying down. While all of this is normal for chemo, it is really keeping him down right now, which is very hard for him. We appreciate your prayers and support and will keep you updated.

Friday, January 30, 2004 11:37 AM CST

Happy Superbowl Sunday! Marc is continuing to feel better everyday since his 2nd chemo treatment last Wednesday. He thanks everyone for the nice birthday messages and for their support and love.

Tuesday, January 27, 2004 3:29 PM CST

Marc was able to go ahead with his 2nd chemo treatment today. He still has had a small fever, but they gave him the ok since he is on antibiotics. He enjoyed a McDonald's cheeseburger and chocolate shake while receiving his treatment! Thank you for all of your kind words and support!

Friday, January 23, 2004 6:04 PM CST

Just an update for our friends and family who are checking in. Dad went up to Unity Hospital this afternoon. He had a fever, and they wanted to check his bloodwork. The test results show that he does have an infection. He luckily did not have to stay in the hospital, they are putting him on antibiotics and sending him home. His next chemo appt. will be on January 28th. Thanks for all of the prayers and support.

Tuesday, January 20, 2004 12:44 AM CST

Marc had his bloodwork checked again this morning. His counts were slightly lower, but to be expected. They are still well within the limits. His next round of chemo will be on January 28th. Meanwhile he is enjoying being back at work and is enjoying so much hearing from everyone. Thank you all for your continued support and love.

Wednesday, January 14, 2004 7:45 PM CST

Marc went back to work today and worked a full day and felt great! His strength is coming back and he is looking forward to a full two weeks of feeling great until the next round. He also had his bloodwork done today, and all is well. He is overwhelmed by the love and support, and really enjoys hearing from you all and appreciates all of the kind words. He feels truly blessed to have so many special people in his life. Thank you also from his kids for supporting our parents....we appreciate it also!

Monday, January 12, 2004 7:00 PM CST

Marc's first chemo session was January 6th. There will be a total of 4 sessions, each 3 weeks apart, each lasting 5 hours. So far, the side effects have not been too traumatic. There has been very little nausea, but it does cause one to get tired easily. Today he went back to work for 5 hrs, and even thought it tired him out, it felt really good for him to get on with his life. We expect one more side effect to show up in a couple of weeks, that being the "dreaded" probable loss of his white hair! So be it, he says. It will grow back better than ever.

FYI- the two drugs he is getting are Taxol and Cisplatin.

Wednesday, January 7, 2004 3:37 PM CST

Welcome friends and family to our website. First of all we want to thank everyone for all of their prayers, phone calls, letters, emails, and visits since Marc was first diagnosed with lung cancer last March. This certainly has been quite a year, and we could not have gotten through it without everyone's incredible support. Marc started his first chemotherapy treatment yesterday, and so far so good. He will be going in every 3 weeks for a total of 4 treatments. The sessions are each about 5 hours long. Marc is in great spirits, and ready to fight! We will keep posting updates as we go along. Again, we thank God for all of you every day, and love you all.

Wednesday, January 7, 2004 3:25 PM CST

Marc has just started on his journey of chemotherapy!
