Davis Shand
Davis is 18 years old and is recovering from ACUTE LYMPHYCYTIC LEUKEMIA (ALL) T-CELL = HIGH RISK OF REOCCURANCE. He's high risk because of his age (over 4) and because he had masses around his heart (where the Thymus is = T-Cell), also in his neck, and being a male - all this puts him in the 15% range. He started this "adventure" when he was 11. JULY 17, 2001 will forever be in our hearts as a time of hell. After 3 1/2 years of extensive chemo, Davis finished treatment September 28, 2004.
Now he is in the "wait watch and see" phase which means check ups every YEAR!!! We made it! Tests continue to make sure all internal organs are working properly (heart, kidneys and liver).
Davis has 2 brothers: Darrel (21) and Brett (16)
Journal
Sunday, May 11, 2008 9:06 PM CDT It turned out to be a gorgeous day! Forecast was for rain, but not a drop. Just pretty blue skies.
I woke up to an egg omelet and coffee from Jeff - at 9:30am! Of course, for some reason I went to bed around 2.. totally uncharacteristic of me.
Than Brett brought me a box of Frango's... chocolates with lemon, chocolate and raspberry fills... they were called sorbets. nummmmm
Darrel slid in and "forgot" my present! Hhahaha. That was always my joke with him - he was "thinking of getting me one" hahaha. But he looked me in the eye and said, "But Mom! I actually BOUGHT a present for you! They are slippers!" awwwwwww
Davis - He couldn't remember what he thought of to get me so as a last minute man who had to work today, I got a lovely Von Hanson's gift cert.
We had a delicious steak an potato late lunch at Jeff's sister Kathy's house... another nummmmm Than I called my Mom and had a nice chat across the miles.
At 6pm, Brett and I went to the Confirmation "Sending mass". They decorated it really cool. Over the large baptismal font in the back of the church, they had a large ring of doves that the kids made hanging with their names on it.
Than from the middle of the ring a rather large bright red material flowed out the circle.... to the ceiling and flowed all the way down the isle to the alter where it came down by the cross. It had a dove and small flames on the end of it. Really symbolic and was touching.
Than of course all mothers received a flower and got to stand up for a blessing!
All in all... a beautiful day.
Hope your day was filled with Motherly thoughts LUV ML
