Journal

It is embarrassing to have gone this long without an update and I apologize. First off I hope all is well with you and yours. This was to be the month for Andrew to leave the Courage Center. It's not happening yet but soon to, our quess is four to five weeks. Our home projects are going fairly well given the hectic schedule we llive, although, it's good to be busy. Since our last update Andrew's therapies have dwindled. Andrew commented that this coming week his PT is done. He still has an occasional OT, does rickshaw and pulley's with volunteers. He will also get in the standing frame one or two nights and has been test driving various manual wheelchairs. There are many choices in these chairs and Andrew is trying to decide which one he'd like to have when he leaves the CC. I'm pleased with Andrew's schooling as he is doing quite well and all on his own. He did just last week finaly get a workout on a FES bike. It was a demo that the CC is trying. I had a chance to see it last week and what we like about it is that the user can wheel right up to it and not have to be transfered. Any way he scored very well for not being on a bike, he had a good level of resistance and had a shortness of breath. It would have been nice to have had the FES therapy weekly like before, I often wonder the achievement he might have obtained. I believe that Andrew has had only two drivers' traning since the last update. He's close to being able to test for his license but without the training he can't get there. Even though the therapies are winding down Andrew has continued to improve. We are making plans for his return home and discussing schedules all evolved around therapy. My good buddy Steve is doing well and looks good. Andrew's good buddy Brian will soon be having some major surgery. Give thanks for our health and theirs. Peace.
