Well we got word this week that Onika's scans are still clear. Yea and praise God. Onika is still just growing and growing. Getting bigger everyday.

Friday, September 2, 2005 7:25 PM CDT

Its been a long time since we have updated but it has been a very eventful summer. Onika has loved every minute being outside this summer instead of being in a hospital room like last summer. Well anyways--Onika is doing great. She gained almost 2 pounds and grew an 1.5 inches inbetween clinic appointments and that is only 30 days. We all said wow. She is getting so big. Well we have scans comming up again. and that always puts us on edge. Her last 24 hour urine in July show higher levels of the HVA but they said not to worry about it that they would check again in a few months. I hope everything comes out good again.

We did pictures today, what a nightmare.

Friday, June 24, 2005 5:03 AM

hi there again, Well it was one year ago today that Onika was diagnosed with this horrible disease. And all I can say is that she is doing great. She is having a good time with her new pool. I will get the results from the ct scan in about 2 weeks when we go back to the clinic. I will update again then. Bye Love ya all

Hi everyone, Sorry it has been so long since we have updated but we have been really busy with the summer activies. Onika has got a tan darker than myself because all she wants to do it play outside.
Well today was the first round of every three month tests. We started with a ct scan this morning and this afternoon they did and echo and ekg for heart function. The poor girl was not alowed to eat 6 hours before but this fell asleep so early last night that by the time that they were done with all the scans she hadn't eatin in 20 hours, she was so fussy but we got through it. And god forbid anyone start an IV on the first try. They poked her 4 times and finally put it in her ankel so guess what. I had to hold her all day and push her around in the stroller up and down the hallways, talking about the fish on the wall. At the end of the whole thing, they had to place a catheter for a 24 hour urine check. So i have to walk around behind her untill tomarrow. She gets mad because she thinks that i am constantly following her. On the 6th and 7th of July we will be going to Grand Rapids for the MIBg scan. That usually goes much smoother. Other than that she is doing great and we will get to do the waiting game to get the results. See ya all

Monday, April 11, 2005 8:40 PM CDT

Well today Onika had a clinic appointment just so they could tell us that she looks alright and that all her scans are clean. What a blessing. Even though the MIBG scan showed no uptake i was worried that her ct scan would so positive for somthing but thank god that it didn't. Onika is getting so big now and she is starting to feel her independence. She is 23 lbs and 29.5 inches. Just a touch on the short side. That is ok, she takes after her mother. Im only 5'2 but of course dad is 6'2. Oh well she has plenty of time to grow
Bye for now

Wednesday, March 30, 2005 12:31 AM CST

It's a beautiful day, nice weather, and I took Onika's catheter out. All night long I walked around behind her carrying her pee bag. Feels nice to be free and I think she likes it better too. We also went for her CT scan yesterday and I cant wait for the results. Other than that she is absolutly doing great. She is getting so big so fast. Her hair is getting longer and she is starting to look like a little girl. Great job Onika.

Monday, March 14, 2005 8:15 PM CST

Hi everyone, We got the results of Onika's MIBG scan today and she have been officially deamed cancer free. The test showed "no evidence of diease". You would not believe the happiness and joy that is in my house right now. I think that I might get a good nights sleep for the first time since June of 04'. And here is my thanks to all that prayed for Onika's fight with Neuroblastoma. She won.

Sunday, March 13, 2005 2:27 PM CST

Onika is doing well. We went to Grand Rapids, MI on Friday for an MIBG scan. I will be bugging the Oncologist on Monday for the results..We are hoping that there is no active neuroblastoma cell near the tumor site for anywhere else for that matter. They are starting to schedual her 3 month follow up scan like the ct scan of here abdoman and lungs where there was cancer to begin with. They aren't sure if they are going to to a bone marrow biopsy or not. I am so nervous i could hardly sleep last night just thinking, and praying that Onika's scans are clear. I hope that they can officially call her NED. Just waiting for that day!!!.

Wednesday, March 2, 2005 3:30 AM CST

Well to start off, Onika was supposed to have an mIBG scan today but I reschedualed it. The weather was bad yesterday so we didn't get her injection. We all hate the snow and cold weather. I thought that it being March now that it would start to warm up and not snow so much. Hopefully it won't snow alot next thursday and friday. We are all praying that the scan comes out clear. The surgen left residual turmor in there (what he couldn't get), hopefully it didn't start to grow again. Anyway, Onika is doing really well. Finially starting to sleep through the night again. Yea

Friday, February 18, 2005 3:30 AM CST

Last Sunday we ended up in the hospital again, but this time it was for the flu. Then Onika gave the flu to her daddy and then to my mother. It hasn't been fun. The doc's schedualed an MIBG scan for March 1st and 2nd. At this time they will determine a plan of action. Wether they will just watch her or come up with something else like radiation. I hope that all that is left of the turmor is dead cells that wont grow. Keep up in your prayers.

Thursday, January 27, 2005 8:00 PM CST

Onika is doing so well and is bouncing back from her surgery like it never happened. She started smiling and crawling again, it so nice to see. On the 7th of Feb., She has her follow up appointment with the surgen Dr. Bruch. Hopefully we will find out about the pathology report.

Thursday, January 20, 2005 8:25 PM CST

On January 10th, Onika had a 13 hour surgery to remove the remainder of the turmor. The surgen said that he got all that mattered and I am fully confident that Onika is NED. After her 13 hour surgery, Onika then spent until the 17th on a ventilator in the PICU at the University of Michigan, Motts childrens Hospital. It was a long week and for her 1st birthday she got the ventilator removed. Well finially on Wednesday they let us go home. Onika is on the sweet road to recovery.

Wednesday, January 5, 2005 2:39 AM CST

Good Morning

Well I heard from the surgens office yesterday and they schedualed the surgery for Monday at the University of Michigan. Wish us all luck

Saturday, January 1, 2005 6:18 AM CST

Well we got the MIBG results back and it showed that the top half of the turmor was still active neuroblastoma cells. I was really hoping that it would all be dead cells that was left. She has already had eight round of chemotherpy. I am really hoping that they schedual that surgery soon and that they are able to get all of it. All that is left at this point is prayer and love.

Sunday, December 19, 2004 9:50 AM CST

Well lets see where to start, Onika finished her 8th round of chemotherpy on the Monday after Thanksgiving. She started throwing up before we even left the clinic. By Friday the Doc's where afraid that she was getting dehydrated that they admitted her for hydration and was said that she would only be there over night.(yea right) On sunday the lab called becasue she had some sort for bacteria in her central line and had to start IV antibiotics. On the following thursday they decided to take out her central line becuase the cultuures still were postive. They tried to put in a PICC line and here veins are too small. While we were in the hospital for 2 weeks they started doing all her scans. Bone Marrow: clear, Bone Scan: clear, CT Scan: still showed unresectable tuomur, MIBG Scan: Still waiting for results. We are also talking to the University of Michigan surgens to see if there is anything that they can do.

Tuesday, November 30, 2004 6:38 AM CST

Onika had her last treatment yesterday and she is sicker than a dog. I feel so bad for her. She started throwing up even before her treatment was done. I am so glad that this is the last one. She will be schedualed for more scans and we all pray for NED.

Thursday, September 16, 2004 4:20 PM CDT

Today is a beautiful day, Sunny and 70 degrees. Onika is doing really well. She is her old self when it comes to eating. Its like 6-8 oz every two hours. Yesterday Onika had a bunch of test done. She had a bone scan, a ct scan, and an echocardiogram. I hope to get the results of those test soon. On tuesday she is having a bone marrow test done and on wednesday she is having a MIBG scan. She will have a hearing test soon as well. She is taking this all so well for being only 7 months old. I am looking forward to being told that she is cancer free.

Thursday, September 9, 2004 11:49 AM CDT

Onika had her last round of chemotherpy this weekend and it didn't go as well as the previous. We left the hospital on Monday and returned tuesday night because she was not eating very much and what ever she did eat she threw back up. She is doing much better today.

Friday, August 20, 2004 2:44 AM CDT

On August 13th, Onika underwent her third round of chemotherpy, which ended on sunday but we had to stay in the hospital untill Monday. Her turmor and her sists are shrinking nicely. The good news is the Doctors say that she will probably have only one more round of chemotherpy and she will be done, Probably for the rest of her life. Praise God.

Tuesday, August 10, 2004 6:09 PM CDT

Onika had her blood drawn today and her count are really high. And she is all set to go the the hospital on Friday for her 3rd round of chemotherpy.

Tuesday, August 3, 2004 3:56 PM CDT

Today Onika's "counts" are low. Her ANC is 504. This is the first time that it has dropped below 2000 so its kind of nerve racking. The doctors told me not to take her out. It is so sad because we go everywhere together. We will keep giving her the shots of Neupogen and hope for the best outcome on Thursday.

Monday, August 2, 2004 12:01 AM CDT

Onika went to the doctors today for her 6 month well baby check up. She is 16lbs 11oz and is 26in long.
Onika just figured out that she can get places by rolling around. It is so funny to watch her. She even trying to crawl and she gets mad when she realizes that she cant. All and all she is still doing well.

Friday, July 30, 2004 7:26 AM CDT

Yesterday we went to the clinic to get her labs done which she has to have done twice a week. Onika is doing great. Her ANC count is well over 5000 so we didn't have to go get blood or anything.
All of a sudden she wont eat her vegtables. She will eat her fruits but not her veggies. She either spits them at me or she gags on them.
Anyways, Onika is doing fine

Wednesday, July 28, 2004 8:29 AM CDT

Onika was diagnosed with neuroblastoma on 6/24/04. We have undergone 2 rounds of chemotherpy so far.
