Ashleigh,

We miss you so much and can't believe it has been 4 years since we last saw your beautiful smile. I still remember like it was yesterday when you called early Saturday morning a week and a 1/2 before you became an angel and asked to talk to Caleb. You told him that he had to go to the pet store and get Rosie Caleb's sister...and we did.....and then we stopped by your house with her and saw you! I can't believe that was the last good bye! Caleb is missing you sooo much and so are we. Taylor Ashleigh is so proud to have you looking over her and she knows she is named after someone so important and courageous. You are our hero. We love and miss you.....until we meet in Heaven. Hugs and Kisses being blown to Heaven!

Hi Amy, Jeff and boys!
Just thinking about you today and wanted to say hello! Glad to hear that the winter so far has been fun for your family. The girls have enjoyed it too, but I'm ready for some warmer weather. Amy, I just wanted to tell you something I thought you'd be interested in. My parents are volunteering at Give Kids the World the week of St. Patrick's Day. I know how much you guys enjoyed being there and us too of course. My parents went on Kenna's MAW trip with us and felt compelled to give something back in return. They get to work in the dining room at the Gingerbread House, drive the tram, work in Amberville and a few other little things. Just thought it was something really cool to pass on. Hope everyone is doing well and Happy early Valentine's Day to you as well! Love, Jen Moulds

Amy, I missed your Eight West interview! But, I'm so glad you posted it on here, so we could view it. You did a fantastic job! We still read your books often w/the kids. They really love the stories. I am so glad you shared your poem, as well. It meant so much to me to read your words, as I struggle so much with the fact that my mom's dementia has taken so much of her already. I need to remember to keep telling her what a great mom she is, and always has been. Thank you SO MUCH for reminding me of this. We take for granted that our loved ones "know" how much we love them. We need to say it and express it even more when they are HERE!! Take care, friend! You, Jeff, Angel Ashleigh and the boys are so often in our thoughts and prayers. Love to you all!

Wow, already another holiday season without your precious Ashleigh. This is the first year without my mom and I can somewhat feel your pain. No one knew truly understands unless they go through it but a child....that's unthinkable. My heart and prayers go out to you, Jeff and the boys at this most difficult time of year. How nice that you got out Ashleigh's tree and can share that beautiful memory with the boys...I'm sure they enjoyed decorating the tree as much as Ashleigh did and what a wonderful memory to pass along. God Bless you all.

We camped this weekend at Camper's Cove and they do a Halloween weekend which is so much fun. Tristin was elmo and loved it. I went to see Ashleigh's resting place a couple of weeks ago. Ashleigh,
I'm missing you so much! I wrote to you on your birthday, but for some reason it didn't work because I couldn't confirm the letters/numbers from my mom's phone. We had an Ashleigh Birthday dinner that night, pizza, bug juice, cheetos, and CHERRIES!!! I think I ate the whole jar of them!! We have been busy on lots of vacations.....I wonder if you were here what we would be doing together in the summer! I've seen lots of rainbows and butterflies and wonder if you're there. It seems like forever since I've seen you...I always ask my mom how long it's been. She told me since about Taylor was born..so when I look at Taylor I think of you too! My sisters love watching Tarzan....that reminds me of you too! There is a lot of things that remind me of you, and although I don't write on here as much, I still say a prayer to you each night and I still talk to you! I miss you a lot though and sometimes at night I cry because I just want us to play together and have fun again. Please visit me soon in my dreams....I would love that.

My daughter Ginny and I visited the cemetery in Alpena last week. We paid a visit to Little Miss Ashleigh's site. Beautiful in pink! It is hard to believe how much time has passed. We still think of her often. We put out a luminary in her memory at the Relay here in Gaylord--as we have every year since she went to heaven. We want you to know that we will never forget. Ginny's hair is growing back--much slower than she would like it to. She ended up raising over $5,000.00 toward childrens' cancer research. You see, Ashleigh continues to touch many.

To Ashleigh's Family,
I was one of Ashleigh's daycare providers at Daydreams and Doodles. Over the past three years I have thought of her often, and of you. I love coming to this site to check and see how your family is doing. I think my three little boys would really enjoy the books, so I am going to order them! :) I am participating in Relay For Life in just a few weeks, and will dedicate a luminary for your sweet Ashleigh! I think of you and little Miss Ashleigh often. My 15 year old daughter, Ginny, recently shaved her head to raise funds for children's cancer research. She specifically honored Ashleigh's and Jay's (another of our childhood cancer friends) memories. She raised over $5,000.00. She shaved her head because she doesn't want little kids to have to go through cancer like Ashleigh and Jay did.

I wanted you to know about her dedication to the memory of Ashleigh. Ashleigh's pictures and stories have become a part of our lives. We continue to visit her resting place every time we are in Alpena.

You are never far from our thoughts and prayers. Love, Pamela and the rest of the Courtright family

It has been a while since I wrote in the guess book, but I check in all the time. You all have been on my mind especially now. I can't believe 3 years have gone by. Thanks for the update and new pics always love to know how you all are doing and of course I love seeing the precious pictures of Ashleigh. I volunteered in my daughter's class the other day(Besser). At the end I was suppose to read a book that I brought. Of course my daughter voiced her opinion as to what book(s) I should read. She wanted me to bring both of Ashleigh's books. We ended up reading 'Ashleigh's Rainbow' to the class and they LOVED it. So did their teacher. I guess I didn't really think about the significance of this month when she suggested the book until after. I will be thinking about all of you.

Hi Amy, Jeff, and boys-
I haven't written in a while but check in on you all often! I can't even imagine the panic you both must have felt when Ryan started limping. I can only imagine... I was sad to hear about your cottage. I'm still working on Keith to go take a look at it with me. I'm glad that you were able to take a little break Amy. I can't wait to hear about your trip and hopefully see a few pictures. When you get a little reprieve from being a mom and wife it seems as if you always come back being a little bit better mom and wife! And I can't tell you how excited I am about the new book. McKenna absolutely loves the Equest Center and has ridden about 5-6 different horses. We've spoken about Ashleigh and your family and it's always with smiles and laughter and how much fun Ashleigh had with Freckles. Needless to say there is love between Kenna and her HUGE horse Wallis! You are in our thoughts each and every day. Happy almost spring! It was good to see you Jeff at Z's after the concert. I'm sorry that we didn't get to chat...felt a little tipsy! Lots of Love-Jen

So glad to hear that Ryan is doing okay. That is not a road any parent should ever have to travel down once, let alone twice.
We look forward to another book coming out! Our family enjoys the other two SO often. They are both beautiful and very touching. Ashleigh's Rainbow has been the favorite lately. After reading it the other night Allison said, "I can't put this book on the floor because it is just too special." She will be thrilled to hear that the next one will be about a horse.
It is an inspiration, Amy, to see how you are using your experience and doing something so positive. You have brought a lot of joy to other children through the books and have raised money for cancer research in the process. Also, in doing so, you are keeping Ashleigh's memory alive as well as reminding parents not to take our little ones for granted. Just wanted to let you know you are all in our prayers and that Ashleigh will never be forgotten. Connie, Jim, Christopher and Allison DeRocher

WOW! I can't even begin to imagine the horror that must have flooded your emotions with Ryan's experience. It must have felt unbelievable. I'm so glad everything is OK! What a rough week that must have been!

What a bummer about the cottage...more work on the horizon is always a daunting feeling. I hope the work goes quickly so you all can get back to enjoying the lake and relaxing.

I am very much looking forward to next book in Ashleigh's series. You have done such a good job on the first two, the next will surely be fabulous as well. What a great subject too, Freckles. I'll never forget seeing the picture of Freckles in your living room! What an awesome experience that must have been for Ashleigh.

Hope all continues to go well with Ryan's hip. Wishing you all sorts of fun at Great Wolf and all sorts of relaxation on your getaway with your sis and dad. Sip a nice drink on the beach for me!! :-)

Keeping you all in our positive thoughts daily!

Ashleigh,

Thinking of you this year and wondering what Christmas must be like in Heaven. I bet you get tons of presents from Santa too! I wonder if you would like all the High School Musical stuff like my sister Kenzie does...I still cherish our memories and good times. Everytime I eat cheetos I think of you. On Christmas Eve I drank a kiddie coctail and put 8 cherries in it.....I think we ate a whole jar once! Taylor Ashleigh's favorite movie is Tarzan..and it reminds me of you too! I miss you and can't believe it has been so long since we've celebrated together! Please visit me in my dreams! Love you forever Best Friend!

Hi Guys,

So good to hear you enjoying the fall season. We can sense the "fun" in your voice! Your little angel's pictures are so precious. I just have to stop in and look at them on the computer. Your choice of dog is starting to be a popular one. One of Steve's good friends (J.S.) has one, as well as his dentist buddy (D.B.) They are so cute and very good with children! It seems that your comment about U of M football didn't jinx their season, giving the last few games. I'd like to say Go Blue! but I'm losing faith! I hope I'm not banned from the guest book for mentioning that team.............. Enjoy the season! Snow will be flying soon.

This is a long section but the whole section is really good. Praying as always!
Isaiah 55:6-11 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Jesus understands suffering. Praying right now!
Hebrews 2:9-10 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Yeah, a puppy!! The girls can't wait to see pictures. We don't pass a dog without 'Mommy, can we please pet the doggie...please! I'm surprised people still walk their dogs aroung our neighborhood. We're sure the puppy will bring a lot of smiles and love. I'm glad to hear you had a good summer. I can't imagine how difficult yet wonderful the memories are. She was certainly a gift and left you with a lot of good memories. We spent a lot of time in Alpena too at Long Lake, playing Mini Golf, and stopping for an occasional ice cream. I think of Ashleigh every fall as she was right in between Jesse(we've told our teacher we prefer Jesse vs Jessica) 3rd and Kait 1st. Take Care - we think of you often

We loved spending time with you guys this summer. I share about Ashleigh and your family with so many of my friends, they enjoy getting the updates and how Ashleigh continues to make her presence know each day. Ryan had us laughing continuously... how he calls his cousin Kaylie "Hey, Big Kid". Ben is adorable and walking around great - what a sweetie. The new puppy will add a whole new level of excitement in your home. I continue to cry happy and sad tears each and every time I log on to the website. Thank you for keeping us in the loop. It's Sunday and once again we read an amazing passage at church. Going to share the first few verses because they really hit home. Praying right now!
Psalms 86:1-7 Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

Psalms 34:6-10 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

Ashleigh,

I hope you got the balloons we sent you for your birthday! I can't believe you are 7! I can't believe it has been so long since we've played together...besides in our dreams of course! I miss you tons Ashleigh! I think though that you've sent this beautiful white butterfly to me! It has been around our house and even at my Grammy's house too for about 2 weeks now! The butterfly always seems to go wherever I go..and I've told my mom it is from you! She thinks it is too!

Remember in our last February together when my mom was pregnant and we found out it was going to be a girl and we told you that we were going to name her after you because we wanted her to be named after someone who has such strength, determination, sense of humor, courage and all your great qualities...well Taylor Ashleigh sure does! You would be real proud of her! She has a strong personality and she likes lots of the things you do too! She is a fish in the water and it reminds me of our swim lessons we took! You were so good! I hope they have lots of pools and lakes in Heaven!!

Anyways..please visit me in my dreams soon! We can play and go swimming and do whatever you want....just visit me soon, because I miss you A LOT!

Even though I am getting older, I still miss you and love you just as much! I'm getting a new room and it is almost done...and I am making sure I still have all of our pictures and my ASHLEIGH shelf in the perfect spot! So if you come to visit me.......my new room is right below my old one...so don't forget!

It is getting late and I have to go to bed...I hope to see you tonight or real soon! Forever and ever..I will never forget! Can't wait to see you in my dreams!

I love you Ashleigh!

Love,
Caleb

We sang this hymn in church this morning and I wanted to share it. Am still here praying!
"My Hope is Built on Nothing Less"
by Edward Mote, 1797-1874

1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

3. His oath, His covenant, and blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When every earthly prop gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Psalms 130:1-8 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Hoping Jeff is getting his garden ready to plant...then work...then enjoy the harvest! Much love to all of you.

Received my Ashleigh's Rainbow book and we absolutely love it. Especially liked the page at the back that allowed my daughter Amelia (almost 5) to draw her own picture. She absolutely loved it and did a great job too. She knows how special the books are. She recognizes Ashleigh's face immediately and always comments on how cute she is. Thanks again for printing these wonderful books and can't wait for the next one.

Hello All-

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the warmer weather. It won't be long before visits to the cottage are a regular occurrence!

I received my books yesterday and enjoyed reading every page. Seeing pictures of all who contributed was a big treat! I can't wait to share these with my friends who have small children. I know they will enjoy reading it as much as I did.

Congratulations on another book well done and I look forward to the next one!

What an awesome job you two did on Saturday at the book signing in Alpena. How great to see so many people turn out for the second book in your series....now the pressure's on for the third!! Just kidding. What an awesome touch to have some of the young people who have drawings in your book at the signing. I'm sure they didn't understand what an honor it was for them but some day looking back they will be so proud to have represented Ashleigh in such a wonderful way. Your presentation was amazing, Amy. You're a natural speaker and how lucky for all the cancer patients to have you on their side of the battle. We're so lucky! Wishing you all the best and much energy to keep up with those two beautiful,active boys of yours!!

Hi, I didn't know Ashleigh but during her illness, I was directed to your site by a friend. I followed her story with tears and joy, for you had such a wonderful daughter (sister, niece, granddaughter, and friend) and were the best family ever for her. I have not been on your site for a year or more, but something made me notice the old bookmark today -- and I came to find out this weekend was exactly 2 years that Ashleigh went to heaven. I didn't know that - but something made me check today. Caleb, you were such a special friend to Ashleigh and will carry that friendship with you forever. Your friendship to her was so special and I can tell you are a wonderful, special kid. Your parents must be proud. To Ashleigh's family, I am just a stranger but will never forget Ashleigh. May she be with you all forever, and watch over you all. Best wishes to all of you.

"I Know that My Redeemer Lives"
by Samuel Medley, 1738-1799

1. I know that my Redeemer lives;
What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, He lives, who once was dead;
He lives, my ever-living Head.

2. He lives triumphant from the grave,
He lives eternally to save,
He lives all-glorious in the sky,
He lives exalted there on high.

3. He lives to bless me with His love,
He lives to plead for me above.
He lives my hungry soul to feed,
He lives to help in time of need.

4. He lives to grant me rich supply,
He lives to guide me with His eye,
He lives to comfort me when faint,
He lives to hear my soul's complaint.

5. He lives to silence all my fears,
He lives to wipe away my tears
He lives to calm my troubled heart,
He lives all blessings to impart.

6. He lives, my kind, wise, heavenly Friend,
He lives and loves me to the end;
He lives, and while He lives, I'll sing;
He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King.

7. He lives and grants me daily breath;
He lives, and I shall conquer death:
He lives my mansion to prepare;
He Iives to bring me safely there.

8. He lives, all glory to His name!
He lives, my Jesus, still the same.
Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives,
"I know that my Redeemer lives!"

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. A friend of mine passed your site on to me because I "see" things when I look at photos. Though the majority of orbs are dust, one of them isn't. When Ashleigh is on the horse with mom and dad on either side; Ashleighs Guides and/or Angels were there too. I want to tell you how moved I am looking at the pictures of your beautiful Angel Ashleigh. I had to stop for about 5 minutes and have a good cry. You gave her such a wonderful life during the short amount of time she was here. I am assured that she is watching over all of you, mommy, daddy, her adorable brothers, her best friends, the pets, and her beloved deer. She knows that her short life had incredible meaning to everyone she met along the way. I envision her playing in heaven with her fairies, chasing butterflies and taking long walks commining with the deer that are up there as well. What a beautiful soul she has; and just remember, she chose this life and you to be her parents. You ensured that every second she was here was a spiritual journey of growth for everyone she encountered then and now through the book series and this website. God Bless You and Ashleigh for the lessons of love and acceptance that her life taught to all of us.

Look to the Lord for strength, whatever the future holds! Oh how I'm praying!
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Oh wow, it doesn't seem possible that it's almost two years already! How could that be?
A friend sent me this passage today and I thought it was especially good. There's nothing more comforting in life than knowing the source of our salvation. Know that I'm still praying!
Romans 3:21-26 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

I am so glad to hear that Ben is feeling better and that the Christmas scare was nothing serious. The news of another Ashleigh book is so exciting and I am looking forward to hearing more about it.

I hope 2008 is a gentle year for you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,
Olivia

Thinking of you this new year and wishing you all peace, happiness and lots of love!!!! We are really missing Ashleigh, especially Elle. Many nights, especially at this time of year, I tuck her in and she starts to cry for her special little friend, Ashleigh. She will forever remember your special visit, just before the new year with the M&M Christmas candy dish. She thinks about her more than you know and we pray for her always and for your family!!!!! When we were up north for Christmas, Elle said she wanted to go and see Ashleigh's Stone. We said a little prayer and gave her a special present. Elle had to put it just in the right spot, I know Ashleigh will love it. Anyways we just wanted you to know we are thinking of you and all of your family. Elle has made some beautiful pictures for you, Amy. We will try to talk soon. Hope you are all doing well and Give Baby Ben and Ryan a hug and kiss from us, and we will blow Angel Ashleigh a kiss from us. Love and miss you, pam,kurt,elle and drew
