I am so happy that things are working out so well. When you get around to reading all your entries and see the first one I wrote, just remember that I'm getting old and forgetful. It wasn't you who made that high school graduation speech..it was Cindy Albers. You girls were always together and my memory gets a little muddled sometimes. Would love to see all of you again. You are on our prayer list in choir and when your surgery was announced several of the ladies asked..."Is that OUR Shannon?". God Bless and look over you and your family.

Kelly, I found candy corn flavored Kisses at Target today. I jumped up and down in the aisle when I saw them. Bailey looked at me like I was nuts. I said "hey!!! here they are!! Kelly told us about these last year on Marshall and Amelia's web page!" So there ya' go! They finally made their way up North. I was so excited I just had to share with you! My blood glucose has shot up way too high now, though, so I have to stay away from them. You can only eat so many, ya know? Man, I'm gettin' OLD!!!
Hope this week is going well for you guys and that Tyren is back on his feet, the kids are doing well, and you're surviving these past few weeks and ready to hit the gym again! Nothing like those endorphens kicking in to help keep the sanity. Or, well, maybe that's just MY house. ha.

We've been in panic mode up in MN waiting for your update! But I wish I wasn't reading that you have to stay. Please know that you will be covered with prayer by so many of your friends and family and we'll be keeping you very close in thought and prayers as we watch and wait for the hurricane to pass through. I'm not above praying for it to cease right as it hits shoreline - so that's what I'm praying for. And if that doesn't happen then I'm praying your house is spared and you are all safe. You made it through Katrina! Tyren and Amelia, we're happy to hear the latest update. By next week you'll be feeling a little more energetic, Tyren! For now, just hunker down with your family and don' skip an iron dose! Did you doctor tell you to take Ferrous Sulfate? That's what mine has me do - it's more effective for iron deficiency anemia I guess. God Bless you guys and keep you safe.

I am sending prayers up for all of you. I am praying that your husband's anemia and blood clot problem is taken care of easily.
It saddens me that Marshall is being bullied at school. I don't seem to understand why the other children in the class don't say anything. The bully would not be able to remain a bully unless he is able to continue his behavior. Bullies always have followers. Hitting is not an acceptable response but not responding would have probably been worse. Hopefully, the teacher will be more aware of the situation now.
Sorry to go so long about that subject but it happens way too often and it doesn't have to.
Prayers up for Amelia and good results from her bone marrow testing. Might I add quickly too?
Good for you! Going to the gym at the crack of dawn. What do they say? 28 days to make a habit. You are almost there.

God Bless,

I can relate to iron deficiency anemia. You poor guy, Tyren! Feels like you're dragging a piano around behind you, or mono, doesn't it?! It's amazing what the Ferrous Sulfate will do to bounce your hemoglobin back up again. We're keeping you in our prayers and hope the scope will reveal what the problem is and that it is an EASY FIX!!! ANd hooray for you, Kelly! Wow! You are doing amazing, girl - good for you!! We're thinking of all of you and as always we keep you in our prayers every day. And we hope that Amelia's counts will hang in there awhile longer. Marshall, we hope you've had an UNeventful and calm week at school. Do you need me to come down and kick somebody's butt? 'Cause I will, just say the word! Take care you guys!

Was today the day? How was the gym? I took pictures of the kids on the first day of school until they were Seniors in high school. Yes, they loved it. Not really. Of course, my daughter is 10 and in fifth grade and I had to take a picture with my cell phone because I forgot the camera! That's what happens with the fourth!
Sending up prayers for Marshall and Amelia during our prayer vigil tonight. Having faith Amelia's counts are climbing.

Time goes by so quickly! It seems like when they are young and in school it isn't very quick at all. Maybe that is why they say don't look back! My youngest son graduated high school this year and I have a daughter starting fifth grade. Two have already graduated and are in college. Yes, crazy as it sounds, I started over.
Whether they are on summer vacation or in school they still manage to make huge messes! I still can't figure out how. You will get the house picked up and it will be time to pick them up. Then you will ask yourself what you did all day. LOL
Praying for everyone to have a very healthy school year!

Although in some ways it brings blessings, FA truly sucks in so many ways and on so many different levels. All that time you knew it was coming, we all do, but you've been able to take comfort in being pacified by the years you've had. I always say I know it's coming, I can feel it behind me, breathing down my neck. I try to walk faster so it can't catch up. Even run at some points, but I know it will catch me. It will catch up and transplant will win. You have the advantage and hugely disadvantage of knowing what's to come. You've had one of your children at death's door. You know what can happen. But look, you did it. You can do it again. If it's time, you will do it again. You will find the strength you didn't know still existed and you will do it again. Hang in there. Know your FAmily and friends are here with you.

God, open my eyes so I may see
And feel Your presence close to me ...
Give me strength for my stumbling feet
As I battle the crowd on life's busy street,
And widen the vision of my unseeing eyes
So in passing faces I'll recognize
Not just a stranger, unloved and unknown,
But a friend with a heart that is much like my own ...
Give me perception to make me aware
That scattered profusely on life's thoroughfare
Are the best gifts of God that we daily pass by
As we look at the world with an unseeing eye.

We'll get you guys some snowmobile suits for the trek back and forth from RMH and you won't feel a thing! I've told you before - I'll take MN winters over that awful LA humidity and heat any day. Have a fun summer all of you - you are never far from our thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's sister :o(. Unexpected deaths are so hard. All deaths are hard. And I've noticed, too, that a lot of deaths are occurring near people's birthdays, too. Strange? I did want to invite you to put your link on a prayer website if you're interested. It's www.asherandjacobsfriends.com. All you need to do is fill out a simple registration form saying it's okay to put your link on there. I hope your days ahead are filled with HIS peace, and I hope to see you at a&j's.

I don't want to disappoint you too much but I live in a very populated, tract home in southern CA. I've lived in Anaheim Hills and had many rattlesnakes, coyotes and even deer in my backyard. Oh skunk too. We also had several bobcat and mountain lion that would come down. Not fun. We now live in Temecula. We have rattlesnakes, but only a few that I have seen and coyotes. What a relief! LOL. Of course, we have field mice with all the construction and in our other (temporary) house in the neighboring city, rats ate through our cars wiring systems! Natural preserve ran throughout our neighborhood and that was a hazard of living there. All our subdivision had the same problem! Glad we didn't buy there even though we loved the house.

Maybe you won't have the problem at all if you buy a tract home or it will be lessened. Anything is better than having a snake on your front porch or the dog smelling like skunk! Yikes!

Praying all is well with your everyone. Happy Easter to the whole family. Sending hugs your way.

No more Animal Kingdom.

Hi Bennett Family,
Thanks for checking in on us. We know that this is all too familiar to your family, but it is nice to know we are not alone. Marshall: I don't know if you remember but the first time you met Baylor we were calling him Pork Chop (it's his nickname) and you said "well if he's Porkchop then I'm Steakhouse" and from that minute on we have called you Steakhouse. Thanks for making us smile. And Amelia: We sure have missed your smiles. We missed you at Camp the last two years and we hope to see you soon. Keep looking up!

A New Year’s Prayer
May God make your year a happy one!
Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,
But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making your path easy,
But by making you sturdy to travel any path;
Not by taking hardships from you,
But by taking fear from your heart;
Not by granting you unbroken sunshine,
But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows;
Not by making your life always pleasant,
But by showing you when people and their causes need you most,
and by making you anxious to be there to help.
God’s love, peace, hope and joy to you for the year ahead.
Numbers 6:24-26
24 "The LORD bless you
and keep you;
25 the LORD make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
26 the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace."

THE CANDY CANE
Jesus Gentle Shepherd,
This cane of red and white
Proclaims the sweet love story
Born on Christmas night.
This cane, you see, when turned around
Begins your name of Love
And now becomes a symbol
Of peace proclaimed above.
The lively peppermint flavor
Is the regal gift of spice.
The white is your purity
And the red your sacrifice.
And so this cane reminds us
Of just how much you care
And like your Christmas Gift
To us it's meant for all to share.

Merry Christmas

Poop! I'm going to pray and BELIEVE in: A. the numbers being off (because I live in that same state of denial - I happen to think it is a necessity as a mom) and B. it is a VERY temporary dip and they will pop back up again and stablize. Whatever it is, it is God's call and He is in control...complete control. So enjoy your holidays and hand it all over to Him because you have enough going on right now. We'll be checking back often (well, I guess we already do anyway!) and see what the next counts bring. God Bless you guys. We're sending you Thanksgiving Blessings across the miles and praying for continued Blessings for many years to come. That home-cooked turkey and the love of family all around to share it with sure beats that awful Thanksgiving in the hospital with the little slice of pressed turkey and cold mashed potatoes and gravy that we tried to choke down while our kids were fighting with all they had. Happy Thanksgiving to all you Bennetts. You are always very close in our prayers. OH!! and holy smokes, Marshall!!! That one was a whopper-it must have been pretty hard to reel in! Kelly and Family,

Wow! That is one huge Catfish!!! I would be super scared if I had to be the one to reel that thing in! That's one mean looking fish! When I was little, my mom caught a 40 pound Muskey. It looked like a mini shark to me. It had real sharp teeth and a real pointy nose. It took my mom two hours to reel it in the boat.

Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving. I know that we have a lot to be thankful for.

WHERE do you find this stuff?! We don't have these fine delicacies in Minnesota. We have, like, 4 different Kiss flavors and that's it. And I couldn't find that Candy Corn popcorn, either!! And I searched high and low. But I guess I should be thankful, because if it was in my house, I'd be eating it! And guess what? I lost out on another Goldy Gopher snowglobe auction on ebay, dang it. That makes about 10 now.....But I'm still trying..... I'm going to get that little Gopher for Amelia!!!

Ok, so I thought I'd pass along this little tidbit of information that I came across on the internet....it will make you cry!!!!!

"I got confirmation this week that the Candy Corn Kisses are EXCLUSIVE to Target, which is why no one saw them on the Hershey's website and not in the announcement for the 100th Anniversary of the Kiss."

People are selling them on eBay, so if you have to get your fix, you can find them there!

Hey! I'm going to hit the grocery store this afternoon after work and try a few of those Candy Corn delicacies! Thank you very much, Nathan. I've noticed I've been getting a little thin lately (loud laughter) so I think I need to add some more calories to my diet, most definitely. (Or maybe 20 miles on the treadmill).
Hope you are all doing great! We are hitting the apple orchards up here - the air is crisp, the fall colors are out, and it's the season in MN for hayrides and hot apple cider! So maybe I'll share the apple obsession recipes we have at the house here with you all (ya'll)! It's pretty much apple or pumpkin everything around here. I just made pumpkin waffles yesterday for breakfast.
Take care you 5 Bens! You're in our prayers every day!
OH!!!! and a snowglobe update: I just heard from the last resource for the U of M Goldy Gopher snowglobe that I've been trying so hard to get for Amelia. It's not available anywhere anymore, so now i'm hittin' ebay to find it. And I'm GOING to find it. I'm on a mission!

Heart Prints

Whatever our hands touch...we leave fingerprints on.
On walls, on furniture, on door knobs, dishes and books.
As we touch we leave our identity..
Oh please where ever I go today...help me leave heart prints.

Heart prints of compassion, understanding and love.
Heart prints of kindness and genuine concern.
May my heart touch a lonely neighbor...or a runaway daughter...
or an anxious mother...or perhaps a dear friend!

I shall go out today...to leave heart prints...
and if some one should say...
'I felt your touch!' May that one sense be...
your loving touch through me!

A very happy 4th Re-Birthday tomorrow, Marshall. We hope you celebrate it in a special way (like, with chocolate cake!!). Amelia, we're sorry for your mishap. Don't let it discourage you! You'll either improve sometime before your 16th birthday when you retest, or you may have a career as at the demolition derby. Either way, we're pulling for you! Good news on the stable counts! We're praying for stable and upwards for those silly platelets. And what do you mean you don't want to go through another MN winter, Kelly? (No guts, no glory as they say). Ha!!! You know what the prediction is for this winter? It's for MORE than average snow. You'll miss all that, for crying out loud. But we'll be happy for you all (ya'll) to miss it, though, and extremely grateful for Amelia not to have to come up here for awhile yet. God Bless you guys! You're ALWAYS, ALWAYS in our prayers.

Hi Bennetts,
Marshall's high cholesterol may likely be caused by the cyclosporin and other immune-suppressants he was on. I've heard that in other post-transplant kids as well. I'd definitely put a call in or email to Dr. Wagner and ask him about it. It sounds WONDERFUL to hear about your "boring" summer. You have certainly earned it, all of you! Enjoy and relax and exhale...we have you all covered in prayer always! I'm still looking for that perfect snowglobe, Amelia. And if I wasn't so DARN PICKY I'd have found it by now! I make myself insane looking for stuff like that...for birthdays, Christmas, whatever. It's in my OCD genes I guess! Take care you guys - love and hugs from all of us. Amelia - Bailey absolutely loves you. She talks about you all the time. We have to get you together for some fun when you come up next. (But not until next year, okay? Unless something works out that we can go to the "Shake for Jake"/Jake Raborn Foundation fundraiser and swing by and visit ya'll - -- but that'd take a LOTTERY WIN on this end! Ha!) God Bless!!

HI Kelly,

Sorry about the bad news. If you makes you feel any better, Jordan's levels are higher. We even put him on Growth hormone to bring it down, and other things. It stays HIGH.

His doctor feels it's part from the tumor, but the other, GENTIC. I have have high cholesterol and have been on statins many years now. It's a amazing, young kids CAN have it for NO reason.

Who is your endo doctor? I wonder if we go to the same one?

Hey there, Amelia!!! I was so glad to get to sit next to you when I ate lunch with Bailey. You are such a sweet girl and you totally made my day when you asked if I could adopt you! You are such a silly girl! And thanks for playing outside with me and Bailey after lunch. It was fun. I wanted to wish you good luck next week. We will all be thinking about you and praying for you. Be sure to keep us updated, ok? You can call Bailey at any time and your mommy can call me if she wants to chat. My cell phone number is 985-373-1969 Love yall!

Hi guys,
We're planning on popping in on you when you're up for your annuals/tests. We have a super great snowglobe for Amelia, and it will be better to give it to you in person rather than risk sending it and having it break! Yeah! One more thing to pack and haul back, right?! We're glad to hear your school year is winding down well and that you are getting ready to pack and make your way back up here. We'll order beautiful weather for you so that trek from RMH to the hospital/clinic is a sunny, nice one! Take care and God Bless. Kelly, call me when you get here. I'll send my phone and cell # and you can let me know when a good time to stop by will be. I'd like to have Bailey and Andrew with and they can keep Nathan and Amelia busy, too. If you need me to take Nathan for awhile while you are running around, let me know. He can come back to our house and play with Andrew - he'd love it. (And so would WE!) And if you want an over-nighter here to help out, we can sure do that, too. He can camp out on the floor in Andrew's room if he is okay being away from mom for that long. We'll keep him BUSY. BUSY is what we do best around here.

Hi Amelia!
How are you sweetheart? I am so sorry I haven't visited you but like your Mommy, I have soooooo busy! My little guy is in the 4th grade and stays on the 1st honor roll but the child has soooooooooo much homework and preparing for SOL tests beginning soon. He is also on a little league baseball team. WHEW! But I hope you know, princess, that you are always on my mind and in my prayers as is Marshall, Nathan and your Mommy and Daddy. I love you, pretty girl! Good night! Sweet dreams.

Hi there, Amelia! and Hi to Kelly and all of your wonderful family! I hope all is well with you. Sorry I haven't been on here as much as I would like. My computer is not doing what I tell it to these days. I think it is going through its' terrible 2's!! LOL!! It is much older than that but since I got it in 2000, I figure it is still qualified as being in the terrible 2's. So, princess Amelia, how are you feeling? I pray for you and Marshall always and then I pray for the rest of your family. You never leave my thoughts. You are just so dear . . . that precious smile is priceless!! God bless you, Princess and Kelly and family! Remember I love you but Jesus loves you more.

Kelly,
Nathan's episodes sound so familiar! Spencer still will have nightmares and cry out..ususally when he is upset with me! I would sit down with Spencer and get him to tell me what is wrong. Get Nathan to talk and reassure him that you love him! It is a way to get attention! He is in need of something or reassurance. They really pick up on when "Mom is worried" and emotions.... He needs you.
Know we will be praying for you all! Love ya!

Hello,
Happy Easter!
LaKota is doing really good, and I am doing good after my surgery. Steve's job does not look too good at this point, they told him to look for another job, because they are not for sure when they will be calling anybody back to work, it is so scary, and depressing, scary how the economy is, and scary about the health insurance.
Your always in our prayers.
Love LaKota, and her mom Debbie.

Jelly beans & Jesus

Have you heard the story of the jelly beans?

Little jelly beans
Tell a story true.
A tale of our Father's love
That's just for me and you.

GREEN is for the new spring grass.
YELLOW is for the sun above.
BROWN is for the soft earth where
People sat hearing of HIS love.

PURPLE'S for the robe he wore
RED is for that precious wine.
BLACK is for the sins He washed
From your soul and mine.

BLUE'S for the sadness of
HIS friends and family,
and is for the glory of the Day
HE rose for you and me.

Now that you've heard the story
You know what each color means.
The story of our Father's love
As told by jelly beans.
So when you see jelly beans on this Easter season,
stop and remember,
Jesus is the reason!

"For God so loved the world, He gave His One and Only Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 3:16

Praying for you all,

Hello little princess!
I don't know if I explained what it means when I say I adopted you. I had one parent today very nicely e-mail me and thank me for the comments but wonder what I meant because her boys were not up for adoption. This is what I mean when I say ADOPT. I prayed and felt led to go to your site, little princess. When a prayer bear adopts you (and I AM a prayer bear), they agree to check in with you and see how you are and if you need prayer they ask the other prayer bears to pray. I try to be a friend to you . . . kind of like a big sister, Amelia. So, I chose you and I check in on BOTH you and Marshall and pray always for you both. I love to visit your site. I think you are one awesome little girl! Keep smiling, little princess and remember that I love you and am praying for you and your family. Most of all, remember that Jesus loves you and is with you at ALL times. God bless you sweet girl!

Ok, princess, make that 3 in a row!! I told you I would check in daily and unless something happens that I cannot do that, that is just what I will do. I sure hope you are doing well. I was looking at your pics from Disneyland. They are adorable. I am SO glad you and your family got to go there. I have been there once and I really enjoyed it. I am a 45 year old KID! I decided long ago I would not grow up. I even go around sing the Toys R Us song. People think I am silly but I love to be happy and make people smile! I believe everyday is what you make it. If we wake up and decide to have a GOOD day and be happy, chances are that is exactly what will happen. My Grandpa used to tell me that life is what you make it and if life hands you a lemon, make lemonade. When I look at you and all you must go through, princess, I can't help but be inspired. That cute smile of yours could melt ice! Your strength and determination makes you a special little girl! Well, I better go and visit the other 3 children I adopted. You take care, sweetheart and don't forget I love you and I am praying for you and Marshall and ALL of your wonderful family. I love you but Jesus loves you so much more! God bless you and fill your days with ONLY good. I am praying for a miracle sweet girl . . . that Jesus will make you completely well. Take care and tell your family I send my love and thoughts.

I want you to know that I am going to be in prayer for you. You have the sweetest smile, Amelia. God will be your best friend. You can talk to Him just like you talk to your Mommy and Daddy. He is always with you . . . even when you are so sick, He is with you. He has angels all around you to protect you and comfort you. You stay strong, sweetheart. I know we have never met but I love you, Amelia and I care that you are sick. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers and if you ever need me, I am just a keyboard away.
By the way, your hair looks GREAT!! Take care and watch for me on your guestbook . . . you will see me there a LOT!

Keeping you Close to my Heart and Deep in my Prayers.

Seding Love Hugs and a Miilion Prayers to you all.

To My Child...
Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.
Just for this morning, I will let you wake up softly, all rumpled in your sheets and I will hold you until you are ready for the day.
Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear and smile at how perfect it is. Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park and play. Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.

Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off and sit with you in the back yard and blow bubbles.
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the Ice-cream Truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take you to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle besides you for hours, and miss my favorite T.V. show.
Just for this evening, when I run my fingers through your hair as you pray. I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given. I will think about mothers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms and mothers who are in the hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and scream inside that they can't handle it anymore, and when I kiss you goodnight, I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then I will thank God for you and ask him for nothing,

EXCEPT ONE MORE DAY

I hope you all feel better soon! It's so hard when the kids get sick all together.

You know, I loved the barbie cake that you made Amelia so I tried to make one for Quinn and it was a disaster. Notice I didn't include that one on Wesley's site. I didn't wait for the cake to cool before frosting it and the frosting all slid down. It was funny. So, for Collin's cake I resorted to fondant that I saw them using on the food network. HA!

Love the attemped Christmas pics ;0) Mine are the same way, one kid looks at the camara and the other has a goofy smile and the last is looking at the ceiling. Doncha hate that? I can't believe how big everyone is getting. Amelia looks like a model with her sassy pose. Merry Christmas and I hope you all feel better soon.

Kelly,

I can relate to those office visits where everything just goes haywire and you just want to pull you hair out. I'm saying extra prayers for Amelia and I hope the doctors can find out what is causing her hives.I know when things feel out of control, just remember that God is always in control. He may not come when you want Him, but he is always right on time. I can testify to that:o)

I also wanted to let you know that you are a strong person and a great mom. You are doing the best you can do and that is all you can do. I know It may not seem like it at times, but God is always there holding your hand and giving you the strength and the grace that you need to make it through each day. I have to always remind myself that I can't do it on my own. Holding on to my faith has helped me get through allot of things with Johnathan and I am sure that you can relate to that as well:o)

Keeping you and your family in my prayers always and always close to my heart.

God bless!

Yikes, girl! I hope today is going MUCHO better! And I hope that Amelia's draws went smoothly and they found a vein quickly so she wasn't traumatized all over again. I'm praying for PEACE and CALM today, so you can come down off yesterday and renew your strength! God Bless your mom and dad! They are the most wonderful grandparents ever! I wish my kids had grandparents who would be in their lives like Marshall, Amelia and Nathan do. There is a very special place in heaven some day for them! I remember your dad on the BMT ward and he was just the sweetest guy ever - I just wanted to HUG him everytime I saw him. God Bless! Have a noneventful day today and keep us posted on Amelia's allergy testing/CBC report.
Oh, and HEY!! After a week of cold, yucky temps (okay, I know, it's Minnesota already...get used to it) we have nearly 50 degrees here today!!! Can you believe it?! The kids are running around in sweatshirts. It's a yippy-skippy kinda day here so I'm sending those good fun vibes down to you!

Happy Belated Birthday, Kelly! Those margaritas were as big as fishbowls, girl! You think like ME, and after all, we are fellow Scorpios so we love a good time. (ha. Like if I even SMELLED a margaraita these days I'd probably go numb and pass out). Glad your day was special, though. Poor Tyren! He'd be the candidate for total high stress if ever there was one. We'll offer up special prayers for him. If I ever win the lottery you guys are on my list, you know. Well, there's about 100 more people on the list, too, so we'd still all be poor! Kelly, Not to scare you....but...Jim had the same symptoms that you described that Tyren was having...when you mention the heavy feeling and pain in the chin.....the Dr said that was a heart attack...He had that when he was 42 and had bypass then (and again 12 years later...) The Dr said the chin pain always tells them that it is a heart attack...I had never heard that before. We think about your family a lot.

Kelly,

I can relate with the medical bills rolling in. It seems like it's never going to end. I also will be saying extra prayers for your husband. That must have been really scary!
I just wanted to comment on your last journal. Cody my younger son has been having a hand full of kids pick on him at school and I finally had to get the principal involved. I also called some of the other kid's mothers. Cody did not want to go to school, because it was getting that bad. Cody has ADHD and takes allot of things personal. The mean kids seemed to always pick up on that and then ended up teasing him even more. So far things have been calm. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I will be saying prayers for Marshall, I know he must be hurting and extra prayers for you as well, because I know your heart must be heavy.

God Bless!
Love,
Ann

Hi Kelly,
I was so sad to read your last entry. It is amazing to me how cruel kids can be to one another. I have the same feelings for Brenna, as she has no friends of her own. It seems as we have "family" friends that always do things together. I am glad to hear that you are going to the Kid's day at the aquarium. I think my husband and I are going to bring our oldest daughter. Brenna will probably still be in the hospital. I would love to meet up with you. Feel free to email me, I do have internet at the hospital. Take care.

Hey momma. I am so sorry your heart is breaking. It's so hard when as a mom you would give anything for your children and then to be faced with a heartbreaking issue that you can't solve. It will be okay. I know you know Marshall is at a tough age. Best friends are so hard to find. I have been living in Maine for around 6 years and am just forming a close relationship with another mom. It's hard to feel alone. It will happen though. Marshall will find someone who he clicks with and shares the same interests with. I'm so sorry your heart is broken. Hugs to you momma.

Hi Kelly,
That just breaks my heart to hear how badly Marshall feels about friends and relationships. If it is ANY consolation, my "teen" feels exactly the same way. She comes home and cries and cries, and she has done this for years. She doesn't feel like she has many friends and tries TOO hard to get and hold them. She says all her teachers "hate" her (which isn't true). It is such a difficult time for our kids - their tweens/teens years. Their emotional and physical maturity is so vulnerable right now. Rachel (my oldest, 13) has an auditory processing disorder that sort of makes her a little different than most. I know that as moms it absolutely rips our hearts out to see our kids hurt, and ESPECIALLY when they have been through so much in their short lives. I wonder if you can talk with your pastor at church and see if there is a way to engage Marshall in a teen group or to be introduced to some other kids who feel the same way and set up some "hanging out" time with them to do stuff together. I know I'm always trying to find ways for my Rachel to meet new friends through church, but she is sometimes resistant to my ideas and interference in her "personal" life. Aaargh! They can drive us nuts at this age because they are so hard to figure out sometimes, but I do remember back to all of my struggles as a teenager and I try to put myself in her shoes. Its very hard, but our kids will be stronger having come through it all. And much more sensitive to other kids who are struggling, too. They won't be any part that self-involved crowd that hurts other kids through their ignorance and hurtful intentions (that seem to make them look cool to their friends). And in the end, that is much more important, just to be true. Hang in there, mom! Just keep encouraging him and reminding him how very wonderful he is. Hearing it from home is so much more important anyway! He'll know someday and look back at all the support and love he has had and that will account for his growth and wellness more than anything else could. As always, you guys are in our prayers each and every day!

YOU DONT KNOW ME BUT I FEEL LIKE I KNOW YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. IVE BEEN FOLLOWING YOUR JOURNEY SINCE MARSHALL WAS A FEW MONTHS PAST TRANSPLANT BUT I DONT KNOW IF IVE WRITTEN BEFORE. I TOO HAD SOME MEDICAL PROBLEMS AS A KID AND HAD A TIME WHERE I FELT I HAD NO ONE. JR HIGH IS THE MOST HORRIBLE TIME. THINGS GOT MUCH BETTER IN HIGH SCHOOL + COLLEGE. I AM SURE MY MOM FELT THE SAME THINGS YOU ARE FEELING. THE ONE THING SHE SAID THAT REALLY CARRIED ME THROUGH THE YEARS WAS TO ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT I AM NEVER TRUELY ALONE. GOD IS ALWAYS WITH YOU EVERY MINUTE. YOU CAN TALK TO HIM ANYTIME, AND HE ALWAYS UNDERSTANDS EVERY FEELING + THOUGHT YOU ARE HAVING (EVEN WHEN THOSE "STUPID" PARENTS CANT POSSIBLY KNOW WHAT US KIDS ARE FEELING.) I DONT REMEMBER IF YOU HAVE ANY PETS, BUT THAT WAS ALSO A GREAT COMFORT TO ME. A DOG OR CAT WILL NEVER MAKE FUN OF YOU OR IGNORE YOU. THEY ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO SEE YOU, AND CARING FOR SOMEONE ELSE MAKES YOU FEEL VALUED. MARSHALL COULD ALSO VOLENTIER TO HELP AT A CHURCH GROUP, SOUP KITCHEN, HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, HOSPITAL OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT HE IS INTERESTED IN. IT IS A GREAT WAY TO MEET TRUELY NICE PEOPLE AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER THEN HELPING OTHERS. WHEN HE GETS TO HIGH SCHOOL THERE WILL BE WAY MORE GROUPS AVAILABLE FOR HIM TO JOIN AND MEET NEW PEOPLE. IM SURE MARSHALLS FUTURE WILL BE BRIGHT. HE WILL PROBILY GO INTO A JOB WHERE HE IS A GREAT HELP TO OTHERS. I AM NOW AN RN AND FEEL THAT BECAUSE OF MY STRUGGLES I AM EVEN MORE ABLE TO HELP MY PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH HARD TIMES. ILL KEEP YOU + YOUR FAMILY IN MY PRAYERS. I KNOW THINGS WILL TURN OUT WONDERFUL IN MARSHALLS LIFE. REMIND HIM HE IS NEVER EVER ALONE. HE ALWAYS HAS GOD STANDING BESIDE HIM. HE ALSO HAS PEOPLE ALL AROUND THE COUNTRY THAT HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW THAT ARE PRAYING FOR HIM.

Kelly, you care because you are the MOM! Moms are suppose to fix things and this is another thing that Marshall will have to work out himself....it WILL work out. Just remind him to have friends he has to be a friend first! Keep praying and we will pray for comfort and peace as well as answers! I couldn't help but laugh at the 5 percent of Husband that we do not understand...just 5?????? HA!
I really missed you all at camp this year!

Dear Kelly,
I am sorry that you are having a hard time right now. I think that most of us who parent children with developmental delays of any kind, can identify with your feelings. I am praying that you can find a mom or two who will help their children to understand Marshall, and integrate him into their play. May the Lord give you strength and peace throughout the process.

Kelly,I can understand what you're saying so well. Both my kids go through this. They both have Epilepsy and my daughter has been declining mentally. She has not one friend and it is heartbreaking. They both used to have lots, but when the medical problems started coming people just split as if their kids could catch what they have.I will pray for Marshall.Maybe he could write to Daniel and they could write back and forth.prayers coming your way.

Dear Amelia;
Let me know how you like school. I start kindergarten on August 23rd. My mom keeps asking me if I remember you. Of course I do - you dressed like a little red devil for Halloween at RMH. Those were the days. Just think, back then we were about the age our little brothers are right now. My mom says "time flies", I don't know about that but if I could fly, I'd fly right down there to Louisiana and visit you some time.

Stay healthy and keep smiling. Tell your whole family hello from my whole family!

Hey girlie! That is so funny, Wesley has that same floatie crab. I'll have to get a pic of him in it too. Toys R Us sells arm floaties that are covered with cloth so they don't hurt and go on easy. Quinn likes them. Anyway, we will miss you at camp :0( but I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the summer. Hope the air conditioner doesn't poop out on ya! Amelia looks cute with her missing tooth!

Kelly,
Sounds like your kids had fun on their birthdays. Both of the cakes looked awesome!!!
I am sorry to hear that Amelia fell and hit her tooth. I will be saying a prayer for her. I will also pray that her CBC results come back good. I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures. It has been rainy and on the damp side here for a couple of days. They said it will warm up by the end of the week. Wisconsin weather is so unperdictable. Cold one day and humid the next. It's been a weird Summer here weather wise. I am glad that you are enjoying your Summer so far. It's going to fast for me. July is flying by just like June did. As the old saying goes, "Time flies when you are having fun!"

Keeping you all in my thoughts and close to my heart.

God Bless!

Ann

HEY! I'm learning, right?! Thanks for teaching me how to make my site fancier, although not as fancy as those cakes you decorate! Yum! I keep forgetting you aren't coming to camp. That makes me sad :0( Give the babies (they will always be our babies in our minds, right?) all hugs from us and thanks again for the lessons.

Kelly and family,

First I want to say Happy Birthday to Amelia and I hope you have a wonderful Birthday!!!!I can't believe that Marshall is three years post transplant already! God is Good!!!! I know what you are saying about the Summer slipping a way and now it seems like school is just around the corner. I am glad that you are having a nice Summer so far. It has not been that hot here though. Only in the low 70's and high 80's. Last week it was in the high 50's and low 60's. I hope that it will be getting just a little warmer for swimming. We are thinking of getting an above ground pool this Summer, but we are still looking around for the best deal. Our neighbor is the one who got us on the band wagon to get a pool. She is buying one and getting it put in next week. We might go where she got her pool, because she got a really good deal. There is allot of hidden costs though. That is why we will be pondering on it for awhile.

I hope you all have fun riding on the Thomas the Tank engine train when you go on your vacation. My younger son Cody was really into Thomas the Tank engine when he was Nathan's age. In fact, he still has all his Thomas train sets. He will not give them up yet.(Ha,Ha)

It's good to hear that all is well and I will also be praying that Amelia check-up goes good.

Keeping you all in my prayers.

God Bless!
Love,
Ann

This is my first visit to your site. I am glad to meet you and will be praying for all of you. My you do have your hands full. I work at a rehab center with adults right now, but after 7 years in a preschool classroom I am convinced that kids will pee in the potty when they are ready...don't frustrate yourself beyond all over potty training. If you put a little hand soap in the potty, when he pees it makes bubbles...boys love that. Also, cheerios in the toilet that they can sink is always quite entertaining and motivating as well. Usually, it is just that their little bodies are ready and they decide they are ready to do it with regularity. Good luck with it.
Praying for all of you.

Boring! Your update is hardly boring, Kelly. It's just full of great stuff, wonderful photos, and other than the price of gas (!!) I had a huge smile all over my face while reading! Wow, a pool sure would be "cool" for you all and I hope Make-a-Wish can come through sooner than later. What a perfect idea - that Amelia, she is one smart little cookie. We're praying for great results for Amelia and Marshall both this week from the doctors, and for Tyren's appointment to go well also. Man, we really need to get Nate and my little Andrew together some day. I tell people Andrew is Dennis the Menace on steroids. The kid is a whirlwind and as of lately he is quite the little button pusher - as in, turning on the microwave while running by, turning on appliances, unplugging stuff that is supposed to stay plugged in, etc. I'm exhausted by 9 pm every night and praying for him to wind down. I'm guessing you are feeling pretty much the same! They are busy little boys, aren't they? Yesterday I tried Andrew with "big boy" underwear because he seems to still have very little interest in potty training. Aaaaargh! After changing him and his clothes 6 times yesterday, and it wasn't even noon yet, I gave up! I said okay, that's it for me! After 2 girls, I'm finding that boys are just a little different in that department! Anyway, you all have a great week full of great and stable news! And we hope to hear soon that Marshall won't need the IVIG transfusions because his immune system is kicking butt now. God Bless you all. You're always in our prayers.

I'm certainly no expert on this, but when my 3rd child refused to stay in his "big boy" bed, we finally re-arranged the room. It seemed to help break the habit of waking up and immediately getting out of bed. It's something to try, anyway. Good luck!

Hey girlie! If you come up to Maine to visit, you'd better give us a call! We would love to go out somewhere, hang out at the beach or you guys could just come and hang out here! Do you stay near Portland? We live just about 25 minutes from camp. Anyway, make sure you let us know and we can get together. I think Collin and Marshall were in the same group at camp last year. Hope all is well and I think of you everytime I do my laundry now :0)

Phew girl! I'm tired just reading all that! I don't know how you survived that week! Keep your head up and keep Marshall indoors and away from wood :0) Wesley gets speech therapy twice a week too. Hey, it's an excuse to get my house clean. Hope you have a better week and give all the kids hugs.

The walls shake eveytime he starts to cough! It is good to hear that Marshall is almost done with his immunizations shots. Johnathan will be starting his soon.
Praying and thinking about you guys always.

Hi Kelly,
We're all praying that Amelias surgery goes great and her platelets bounce right back up again. I know what you mean about the school and friends situation. My oldest daughter really struggles and it breaks my heart every day and it has for years. Kids can be really cruel. But it's been that way since the beginning of time so there isn't anything we can do. I've often thought about pulling her and home-schooling, and I think if I could do it, I would! Happy Anniversary! I hope you and Tyren and go out and have a great (shhhh, QUIET!!) meal. And now I guess i'd better go tackle my load of laundry downstairs, too! Wish you hadn't mentioned that, though, because the denial was workin' pretty well for me. Ha! Take care and have an awesome weekend. (By the way, I laughed at your cold jacket temps. You HAVE been away from Minnesota long enough to forget now, haven't you?!!)

HHHAAA!!! I HATE LAUNDRY TOO!!! What's worse is our laundry room is in our bedroom so when I don't do laundry, it becomes an obstacle course just to jump into bed. Who cares!!! We have more important things to worry about, right?! Happy Anniversary and I hope Amelia's platelets go up soon. Wesley's just did so I know it can happen. A few weeks ago they were 85,000 and I just found out they are now 137,000! Hang in there, it can happen. I hope her belly heals fast and Marshall finds his place with his peers. Growing up can be so hard. If only the kids truly understood what he's been through, they would have so much more respect for him. Take care and we'll keep checking on you.

kelly,

I will be keeping Amelia in my prayers that her surgery goes well. I also will be saying a prayer for Marshall. My youngest son Cody, who is eleven is very shy about girls and dances at school. He never goes, because he feels to uncomfortable. Cody also misses the long recess's when he was in Elementary school. I am sure that when Cody gets a little older hopefully that will change.Tell Marshall that he is not alone. Laundry is not my forte either. Folding all the clothes and putting them away is soooooooo tiring and boring, but someone has to do it right? Nathan helps me now and then as well, which is kind of nice.
Keeping Ameila, Marshall, and Nathan in my prayers always and you and your husband.

Keep the faith and keep strong!
God Bless!
Love,
Ann

Prayers always for the kids' appointments and for Amelia's surgery. I hope everything went well yesterday at clinic and the pokes weren't too traumatizing. I'm glad Nathan is doing so well sleeping at night! I won't jinx the whole deal and say maybe this is the start of more sleepful nights for all of you (but especially YOU, Kelly!) !! Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend and may it please be uneventful, Lord. (As in, peaceful and no new bumps in the road to pop up!)

How scary! I hope your family gets better soon and Amelia's counts go up. Wesley's drop too when he gets sick. It's so funny to hear you explain how Nathan provokes Amelia. Wesley does that to Quinn too. Usually they play so well together but there are times when he is just trying to antagonize her and it sends her into a fit. I pray for strength for you and your family. I know how all this must be stressful for you. Hopefully it will improve soon.

Hi Bennetts,
I'm praying for those fevers and the viral junk to vacate your house soon. I hope Tyren is feeling better soon. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in quickly! Nathan sounds like a twin of Andrew! Oh, my gosh. Are they wild, or what? I know they just want attention and someone to play with them. It seems that Bailey is often Andrew's target too. I laughed when I read that paragraph! This, too, shall pass, RIGHT? (hopefully SOON?!)
I love the new pictures of Amelia's teachers. I hope Amelia is feeling better soon. And I hope you get a good report at the eye doctor!
Take care. You are all in our prayers ALWAYS and forever! God Bless!
