Our Little Hero Welcome to Juliett Marie Johnston's Web Page. It has been provided to keep everyone updated about Juliett's battle with Neuroblastoma, an aggressive pediatric cancer. Neuroblastoma affects approximately 1 in 100,000 kids each year.
Juliett was diagnosed with Stage 3 Neuroblastoma on June 2, 2003 just three weeks after her third birthday. We learned that the horrible tumor was attached to her ONLY kidney. She has endured seven rounds of chemotherapy, tumor resection at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, stem cell transplant and fifteen rounds of radiation.
Juliett is a beautiful little girl who has an amazing will and a captivating personality. We are forever in awe and inspired by the battle that these kids fight everyday.
FEB 2011 SEVEN YEARS CANCER FREE!
Journal
Tuesday, March 29, 2011 New update in case you were wondering...
Juliett recently had her yearly checkup at Children's Hospital, and she is now SEVEN YEARS CANCER FREE!!!!! She is enjoying life to the fullest!
Jules is growing fine, but her bone density test came in a little low. We'll deal with that by taking multivitamins and a calcium supplement. I guess it doesn't help that we aren't big milk drinkers. She does like her cheese, though.
Not too long ago she went to the dentist and had six teeth pulled all in the same day . Surprisingly, it didn't stop her from eating. She just can't wait to have a new smile, even though we know she has the most beautiful smile in the world.
She's getting a lot better at wearing her hearing aids all day long. She notices they actually make a difference in her hearing, but she says they sometimes hurt her ears. I wish there were an easier solution.
Report Card Day was Friday, and Juliett once again made it on the Honor Roll. Way to go, Jules!!! She's involved in a few activities at school. I hope she keeps it up through her high school days and college years too.
Well, that's about it for now. We keep praying for a cure to cancer!!!
