First to Kevin! Kevin trust me when I say you are Travisman's father and always will be but coming from the same battlefield as Julie I can honestly say Travis needs stability not someone there when they see fit. I know you long to be with him when you want but I also know that isn't what is best for him at this time. He hasn't spent time with you in years and we as the primary caregivers we have to know the person wanting to be with them knows how to take care of them as we primary caregiver does. Trust me I allowed Aaron's dad to be there but on my terms also. You can't expect Julie to allow you to just come over take Travis out for the day and think she will say yes. Not going to happen can't happen. We have to know you know how to care for him. We have to know he will be ok. Not saying you can't do it but you haven't been around in a very long time so you have to be trained just as we have been. Kevin PLEASE listen to me as I know your pain ok but leave this alone if you want to see Travis do it the right way don't use his website as a way to GET BACK at Julie. If you want to spend time with Travisman then go to court and get your rights and pay child support don't try to go about it this way. PLEASE!!!! :/

Julie, Travisman and Girls,

I love you guys so much and really wish I could have seen you all before the summer was over. Boy did it fly by fast. Well maybe we can get together for a bon fire or something this fall. Julie give Travisman hugs and kisses from me and the boys and the girls too. Talk to you all VERY soon.

Love,

well it is about time a comment finally stayed on the page and it would be best if you did not go there... i will ALWAYS be available to my son weather or not his mommy wants me there.... he is my mini me, I love my son. i just wish I could see him without his mother attaching stipulations, a boy needs his daddy... I was raised by a single momma i wish my father expressed half the desire to be with me as i do with my son. NO parent should be left out in this circumstance, irregardless of the parents ability to get along, we did in the hospital... because Travis IS THE MOST important in my life period. thank you I LOVE YOU TRAV!!!! p.s. seven miles may as well be an ocean.....due to the fact we would see each other just as much..............

Hi Travis!
My little boy is 8. He and I cleaned his room and found some really cool toys that he hadn't played with in a long time! Do you ever find toys that you forgot about? It's so much fun to play with them again.
My mom had a brain tumor. She had surgery and a doctor removed it. Before her surgery, my family had a party and we all took turns shaving my mom's head so she'd be ready for surgery in the morning. We laughed and took pictures but inside our hearts we were very worried and scared. The next day was my birthday. I was 30 years old. My mom teased me that she was ruining my birthday! But she gave me a great present when she recovered from surgery. She healed slowly and had a HUGE scar on her head. She also has metal in her skull to replace the bone. Wow. I asked her if she wanted to pretend that she became a superhero because her metal plate in the skull and the fact she survived a serious surgery and illness....I said we could call her RecoveryGirl, or TumorBuster, but she thought that being a Grandma was enough work for her. Besides, we all know that once you become a superhero you have to have a secret identity so no one can bother you when you are off duty....superheros want to sleep in and be lazy too. My mom didn't want a secret identity. I think she was just too lazy!!!
Five years later, my mom got sick again. This time with cancer. Melanoma cancer that got inside her body. This cancer tried to take over but my mom got special treatment in Texas (from doctors, not from cowboys). The doctors at MD Anderson Clinic in Houston gave her some SERIOUSLY tough bio chemotherapy. She lost all her hair again!!! We didn't have a party this time; she was too weak. She was able to have a FREE haircut from a volunteer that helps cancer patients. It turns out that there are a lot of people that help when you are sick. My mom was given a few free hats, too. She teased me once and said, "See, all you have to do is have cancer and you can have these lovely hats!". I would never, ever want to have cancer. But if I did, I would talk to my mom and try to meet guys like you. I would want to get ideas on how to be a good patient and how to not give up when everything is terrible. How do you do it? I bet it's not the free hats!!!

So, as it turns out, my mom is a superhero....just not the kinda that wears a funny uniform and has really cool powers. Sometimes I think about it...I start to daydream and think about her as a real superhero.....and then I imagine "She defeated the ultimate villian, Canceronomous! With her special healing powers and will to live it was only a matter of time before the hidden sickness was discovered and shrunkified"!!

If I could have a superpower; I think I'd pick to be invisible. What about you?

Your new friend,
amy frank

He did something kinds simular to that but he put a bead in his ear not just one but 3. That was in Kindergarden and the doctors never found them until he was in 3rd grade WOW!!!! Anyway he also put pencil lead in his ear too. Man what boys will do. They are silly little men!!!! Well it sure was nice talking to you Saturday night!!!! Hopefully we can get together soon. DearJulie and Travis: This is Rose A. Guill of DREAM, Incorporated. Your story is wonderfully written and is an inspiration to me in ways that I cannot describe. I praise God that you are such a wonderful fighter, Travis in all that you have been through and I assure you and your family that we will do anything and everything that is possible to help you. Perhaps it will help you and your family to know that I am totally familiar with St Jude's, the Ronald McDonald House, LeBonheur and dealing with Cancer myself! I know that these are wonderful doctors and people who truly care and I want to assure you that our prayers are all going up for you everywhere. Never give up! You have fought such a wonderful battle against such a difficult disease. Anytime that you ever feel a need to write or have someone just listen, please feel free to contact me anytime. My e-mail is dreamincrose@aol.com in case you need it and I can be reached most days through calling 434-736-9817 or in the evenings at 434-736-9892. I currently live in VA but before coming to VA in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina I lived in Mississippi and had been to the places that you are frequently associated with and stood beside the bed of my then 2 month old granddaughter on Christmas night when she was airlifted by helicopter to LeBonheur where she was given only four (4) hours to live. We have walked the road but not nearly as difficult as the one you are walking. Keep the faith, I believe that you will be able to walk Travis, just keep up your faith and believe in yourself hon!

Hi Julie and Travis,
We are still here at Grizzlies House in the same isolation room. Haven't seen you, hope you guys are doing OK. Keep us updated. We will still be in the same isolation room through the end of this week at least. We have extra coloring books, play-dough and crafts, if Travis would sit still long enough to enjoy any of that! I also have disinfectant wipes to make sure he doesn't get the RSV virus from any items we give you. Take care of yourself.

Glad to hear YOUR son is doing so well that must be great. As I myself am in a very similar situation with the exception i am seperated from my child and do not have the option of enduring this along side him. Not knowing and reading the paper daily fearing the reading of his name in the obits. As i have not received any word on his condition, that is a thing no parent should ever experance. I wish your son, you, his daddy, and siblings the best as family is the only thing one ever has.

Hi Julie - I am not sure how often you read these updates, but I just had to share this with you. I am the person who loaned your family the excursion while you were here in Memphis. Anyways, I was at Mylissa and Marks last night for the December fellowship and I brought my mother so I could drive the excursion home to get it repaired next week - and my mother was going to drive my car home. Well the fellowship had it's own twist -- with the car accident at the end of the Horrocks driveway and then no electricity for the entire fellowship. . . As I was saying then I left the Horrocks --no regular headlights only brights, which I did not figure out till I was a mile from the Horrocks. My Mom was following me and as I was driving in our neighborhood just about 1/4 mile from my house, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a DEER come running from the woods toward the street- I slammed on my brakes and my mother was wondering what I was doing. The deer couldn't decide if it should run back to the woods or go across the street and just kept running along the road.-Needless to say, I waited until it decided to run back into the woods, before I continued driving home. - I just didn't want to have anymore dead Bambi stories! We are still laughing about it this afternoon. Just wanted you to know that we think that the excursion is a deer magnet. Well, I hope your drive home was not near as eventfull as your last week in Memphis. Have a Merry Christmas.

OMG did we get hit with the wonderful snow. Honestly I hope we still have plenty when yall get home because I would love to see Chunky Monkey playing in it. Man I sure miss you guys thanks for signing the guestbook. I sure miss the girls. It is funny we are still finding things in my room that they left here. We really love using the pillow that was left here we all take turns using it. The boys cracked me up last night they found all the change Ham(Leanna) and Turkey(Makenna) spilled in LiL Andre'e room. It is a big joke between the boys and the little girls they couldn't remember their names so they made up names for them. It was really commical because when they finally learned all their names it was time for them to go:( Well hope all continues to go well and can't wait to see yall when you all get home. Tell Jessica CONGRADULATIONS on doing the run I am sooooo proud of her!!!! Give Chunky Monkey a huge hug and kiss from me. Just know we all are praying for you guys daily.

Just wanted to let you know that we are still checking on you. It seems like yesterday when we were all at Saint Jude together with Bret and Travis playing in our room. I think this was the last time we got to see you all. It has been really hard without Bret especially this month. It would of been his 4th Birthday this Sunday the 18th. Last year at this time with thought he was cancer free only to have our world shattered. It will be 6months the 28th since Bret passed away and it hasn't gotten any easier.
We are trying to gather items for RMH in Memphis that Jeff and I are going to take, maybe sometime in October. When are you all back in Memphis? I need to get you copies of the pictures we took the last time we saw you.

Children are certainly a blessing from {Jehovah} God. My heart goes out to the strong mothers who have to deal with difficult situations that are imposed upon them today. There is a fruit call Noni that is literally helping to heal people with cancers, tumors, heart disease etc. I urge you to do the research on TAHITIAN NONI JUICE. Ther are many noni juices but only one aurthentic kind that has no perservatives in it. Please, please do the research and find out the truth about this juice. You can also read peoples testimonies. Noni juice is sweeping the country. The site is tahitiannoni.com- It's very safe because it is natural. Then get in touch with a noni distributor and let them show you proof. Please let me know what YOU think. I've always believed an ounce of precaution IS worth a pound of CURE. This juice is also backed up by doctors-PLEASE READ.

Julie, you are strong than you think. You get up every day and take care of your son no matter how curves life throws you. Some run away and hide, others let someone else take care of their problems, but you are there doing what you need to do. That takes real strength. I'm sorry that you the news you got wasn't what you had hoped. You guys will be in my prayers.

It's by the grace of God that I came across your site. My daughter Alyssa has a JPA as well. Her site is www.caringbridge.org/al/sweetalyssa. I have to say our journey hasn't been all that bad. We know the Lord is healing her. JPA's are the best kind of brain tumor you can have! We have to thank him for that. Alyssa's is located in her hypothalamus as well. She has just finished 10 weeks of Carboplatin and Vincristine...we are on a 5 week break and she will have her first MRI since diagnosis on November 10th. We pray the tumor has shrunk! Please keep in touch as I read you were looking for other parents with children going through the same thing.

Dear Travis Family ,
You all are in my prayers Travis has such a wonderful grin I have a family of 5 girls and one boy
my children are all adopted and all handicap 4 terminal ill my daughter Emily was born with just part of a heart she had her first open heart surgery the first week of her life she had a large stroke and could not use her left side she would sit and groom the hand and treat it like it was another child that she was to care for Emily came to me at age two We would tie rattlers to her hands to make her use the arm she did get more use from it because of the stroke she only had half a brain but could do more with that half than most people do with a hold brain . I just want to tell you we are praying and believing God will bring you all strength and joy and peace as he brings you all through this hard time I ask him to meet all your needs draw close to him and he will draw close to you Gos bless you all Mary and the wild bunch

I came upon your site as I was previewing other BellSouth personal homepages to get some ideas for my own. Your story is amazing and I wish you all the best! I will add your family to my prayers. It just so happens that I too stayed the the Ronald McDonald House when my son, now 2 and 1/2, was born pre-mature and had to be sent to another hospital just over an hour from our home. I am pleased to say he is doing just fine now, but the people I met while staying there (just over a month) certainly provided much needed support through our difficult time. I admire your courage and sincerely hope your future is bright. Above all, remember that although life may seem unfair at times, and our faith questioned, God would never allow us to experience that which we could not handle. No matter what the future holds, hang on to the belief that he has a devine plan. It appears that your story has touched so many lives thus far. I will add your site to my favorites so I can keep updated. I wish you all well. Your older children seem strong. You should be so proud!

Hello, I just wanted to say, Travis, you are such an inspiration. My little girl was born 3 months early and I thought that was tough. You have gone through so much and you seem to be a strong fighter. We stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Chattanooga TN for almost 3 months and I have heard many stories about sick children. As I did for them, I will do for you. I will always keep you in my prayers. You stay strong and I will continue to check the site for updates on you. With Love from down south in Tennessee.

Hey there just stopping by to say thanks for making me cry a happy cry for once. I was so happy to hear about Travis using his left arm he is such a stong and brave boy. I too can't wait to be home but I also know we have a very long and tough road ahead of us. But by the grace of GOD I know we will be fine and make it through. Yeah I was pretty mad about not going to the wedding but GOD does everything for a reason and I will explain more about that later when we talk on the phone again you will never beleive what happened. Anyway thanks for all your love and support and most of all being a GREAT FRIEND and prayer warrior. I also pray for you and all that is going on with you and your family. But girl I sure miss you guys like crazy I really miss the conversations and fun times(he he he). But I too know how hard it is to be away from your kids so I am happy you are home too. Well anyway when we get out hopefully sometime this week I will call you and we can catch up. Give Travisman hugs and kisses and lots of ELMO songs(ok now you can cry too)!!!!!

hey Julie and Travis!
I am SO HAPPY to hear how well Travis is doing these days!. I miss seeing his cute smile. I will continue to pray for you guys as you try and move, go thru check ups, etc. Julie as you said in a journal entry things do happen for a reason and trust me, it is hard to see that reason most times but keep your eyes on the Lord. Just looking at Travis you can see His good works!!

Well anyway Aaron and I miss seeing you and Travisman but we know where you all need to be right now and that's with those precious sissy's. Hey Juls and lil Travisman and yeah you to Kev!!!!
Just writting to say I have looked at Travis' page and he is a little fighter. I think he has his dads stubborn streak in him somewhere. I met Kev a long time ago in chat and he has always been considerate of others and a real sweetheart and has that same smile Travis has. I dont mean to talk only of Kev but he is the only one I have known. Juls I have just met you and you seem strong and sweet. I see that in Travis' pics also. I know he is a fighter because of the parents he has and the love you all have for him gives him that strenght. I must say you are the blessed ones to have such a special boy to love and guide threw this and your love and strenght is doing just that getting him threw and over it. There are things in life that happen and we dont know why but they do happen for a reason. Who knows when Travisman gets older he might just be head of the board at St Judes or one of the wonderful helping hospitals for kids. God Bless and Look your way with many more good reports and smiles....REMEMBER when all is down keep smiling it keeps the enemy confused and dont think its getting to ya.....The Devil gets alot of the recognition of making us think bad but sometimes we can confuse him by smiling and not giving him credit and as my grandmaw always says....This to WILL pass....LIL MAN keep smiling and bouncing...MOM keep smiling and loving that lil man...DAD get your butt on the computer and post I know how much you love him and are proud of him so do your part as well...Sorry KEV but I love ya man and just telling ya when he looks back at this in years to come he will see only mom posted and he will say dad why didnt you and you will have to answer to that one that you are the most proud of and I know you are because you have told me so....thanks for sharing your personal life and struggles with me and god bless all 7 of you....Debby

Hi, Just wanted to remind you that God is in this battle with you. I would like to fight on your side. I'll be praying for little Travis. Jeremiah 29:11 says: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." I'm praying for complete and total healing over Travis. Whatever God's will is I pray will be done.
God Bless

Just found your home page by browsing- and felt the need to send you a short note and let you know that I will be praying for your family. I have a 4 year old daughter with JRA, and though it is not life threatning- it is severe enough to cause some crippiling and major pain- and as a mother- I know how it is to see your baby in pain. It was so hard at first not to question the reasons why God would allow such things to happen to our children- but then I took a good long look at myself, and remembered that they are not our children- but are God's, and even though we may not understand- it is His will that things are done a certain way, and that all things work to His glory. So, when you see your little angel smile, know that it's God's way of saying He is with you all always- and He is there- holding your baby's hand. My prayers are with you all!

Hi, We saw your entry on Aaron's caringbridge. See that you are from Illinois and our daughter has Optic Pathway Glioma and the tumor is also on the the Chiasm. Emily has had the tumor for 8 years and just went through 30 treatments of radiation Jan-March of 2003. We also go to St. Judes in Peoria. She was very sick last year and also had to get a feeding tube. She quit eating for 9 months by mouth. She is just starting to do better. We have other issue from the radiation. Please fell free to to give us a call and please check in on Emily's website. Our address and phone number is on Em's website. She had a very rough year but things are improving. We will be praying for you all. You are in a good place. We will be coming back to Memphis on May 17.

Love and Prayers

Hi TravisMan and Julie!
Back home - FINALLY! You both must be SOOOOO Happy! And I am sure all your sisters are so happy to see you, too! WHAT FANTASTIC NEWS!!! Your latest MRI shows no growth since your surgery! And by what Mommy and you are writing here, it sounds like you are doing very well, Travis! I am so happy for you!! Travis, you see how Jesus is listening!?! - - Soooo many prayers are being sent to heaven for you; Jesus is there, watching over you, little guy! He carried you through that terrible surgery, and He is still with you today! And He will stay with you, I am sure, until you have this thing licked! Julie, you said that, where you have gotten the strength for this is beyond you..... well, you are right!!! It IS beyond you, because that strength is coming from Jesus!!!

[Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand... For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, "Fear not, I will help you." -Isaiah 41:10,13 NKJV]

Keep your eyes on Him, and He will carry you through all your trials. Be faithful, and He will be true; and in your darkest moments, do not turn away, but turn to Him even the more! Put your complete trust in Him, and He will be with you always!
If all goes well, Julie and Travisman, Peggy and I will come visit when you return to Memphis next. Until then, we continue to pray for you both, and all your family.

[I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Philippians 4:13]

God Bless you both!

Julie,
My name is Amber Dhesse and my niece is a patient at St. Jude. She is in remission and is a 4 and 1/2 year survivor. I just thought you might like to know that the Lifeline pilots can fly out of the Peru airport and fly you to the Memphis airport. On good days it only takes like 3 hours. My sister and my niece used to use their service to fly to Memphis for treatments. The pilots are wonderful people who do it for the kids. If you would like more information please feel free to contact me at the e-mail address below. However, just so you know I don't check my e-mail that often. But our phone number is also in the phone book under Paul.
Best wishes to you and Travis,
Amber

Julie & Travisman,

I just wanted to drop a note and let you know what a huge impact you and Travis has had on our lives. Although we have only met twice, you are the subject of many of our conversations with our friends and family and are definately a part of every prayer. Julie, your courage and love for your son (and other children) is all but written on your face and I admire your strength. Seeing the difference Travis had made from December to February was amazing to me, even with the surgery. His stomach seemed to be a bottomless pit. We'll come to Memphis anytime, cook him all the french toast he can eat, just to be able to see the smile on his face. I'm proud you're back home with all of your kids, if there's ever ANYTHING we can do, even come to Memphis and watch Trav while you take a break, PLEASE don't hesitate to let us know. It would be a true honor. --Feb 21 "breakfast with the MisFits" RMH

Travis and family
As I was sitting in the library about to view my own little girls web site on caring bridge.org I saw that another patient here at St Judes was also on here and I just had to take a look and what a beautiful, darling little boy! We are here with our 2 year old, Madelyn Paige Beamon, she has neuroblastoma, a tumor beside her kidney. We are from TN if you would like to visit her website as well! I want you to know I will be thinking and praying for your baby boy. I KNOW how much it hurts to see him and your family dealing with this. You have alot of people praying for you all and I truely believe in the power of prayer and the power of numbers! Good luck and God Bless!

Hi Travis and family - I am a good friend of Candyce Wolsfeld - mama to St. Jude patient Zoe of Spring Valley. I will be adding you to my prayers, for strength and faith in this difficult journey. Candyce is a wonderful person and I know she will do whatever she can for you. I know that all the other cancer families pull together and help one another. I also know that the doctors and nurses, etc.. of St. Jude are absolutely wonderful - Travis is in good hands. I too am willing to help you out if there is anything I can do - this cause has become close to my heart. May God's blessings be upon you.
