Oh about the kidney getting larger. Yes its POSSIBLE, at least thats what Mickenzies doctor explained to us. I am not sure if he said its a common thing or if it happens only sporadically.

Hi Nicholas and family.....I found you through another caringbridge webside and I am glad to get to meet such an incredible little boy. You kind of remind me of our little Mickenzie, she is a Wilms Kid too. She is going to be 3 years old in August. She also hates those CT scans but for another reason. They put her under anesthesia, it makes it so much easier and is definitely not invesive. They doctors here at Anderson felt, she has enough stress already. But Mickenzie doesn't like it because she doesn't want to go to sleep :-) They also changed her from the Neupogen shot to the time released Neulasta which works so much better. She gets it 24 hours after the last chemo and thats it. No more daily shots..that just was too much on her.
Please stop by when you get a chance, Mickenzie loves to make new friends.

Hi, I just came across your site. My son Brandon was diagnosed with bilateral Wilms over 2 years ago. About 8 months ago, he got off relapse treatment, and has been doing well. I really loved your poem written in one of your entries, that has "just this morning".. It is wonderful - I printed it out and I'm going to bring it home to show my wife. I remember when Nicholas and his family first came up to 2center. Me,being the nurses aide admitted him with Karen as his first nurse. I felt I had a connection with Nick and his family the first time they came into the hosipital in room 236!(I still remember) My heart broke for him and his family. Ever since I had been the nurses aide that had to admit him, I try and continue to help the nurse who has Nick when he does have to stay at the hosipital. I will never forget April 16, 2002 when I first saw Nick. He is such a beautiful baby. Over the years now I have been lucky to watch that beautiful baby turn into a beautiful little boy. Seeing his smiles in these pictures just warms my heart up. Unfortunitly I haven't had much contact with him and his family but Karrie please know that I have always enjoyed our conversations, and most of all was and still is honored to take care of such a wonderful boy! ~NCT~ *Jamie*

We can relate to everything you have said as our 4 year old daughter (Taylor) was first diagnoised in Feb 2000 with a unilateral wilms then relapsed in July 2002 with a metachronous bilateral wilms she now only has 50% of one kidney. she too is waiting for the 2 years cancer "free" before she is eligable for a transplant. We have been off treatment since Feb 2003 and all is going well. We are going to have a kidney fuction test in November to see the expected time the kidney will last. we are hoping it will be longer than 2 years.
We hope things keep giong well for Nicholas and yourself.

Thanks for stopping by Killian's page. We don't get too many visitors now that he has been so well for so long. He goes in for his one year post treatment test on November 18. Hello My name is Jenna. I will be keeping Nicholas in my prayers. He is so cute, and he has been through so much, but I can tell he still smiles. You are such a cute little boy, the words your mom expressed are the same I still feel to this day, why this happens to our children is beyond me. I'll never forget the day I was told my 10 1/2 month old baby had cancer. To this day I don't think I have fully recovered. Although he is in remission my biggest fear is relapse. We visited Nicholas and Tim (Nick's father) at the hospital on Sunday, January 19th and Nicholas was looking so much stronger. Nick is such a tough little guy, and I am so proud of my nephew. His little body has been through so much, but he still always has a smile to share. We are all so weary, but with so many kind words and prayers, I believe that Nick is going to power on through this. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.
