Hello: Just ran across your entry on Caring Bridge. I don't recognize your family (pardon me if my memory has failed me). I also have a beautiful Qidong daughter who was adopted in 1999. We just returned from a visit to China which included a visit to Qidong and the orphanage last week. It was an incredible experience.....good and not so good. Have you ever been a part of the online Qidong List with Yahoo Groups?? If not, please Google Yahoo Groups and put in Qidong Families. There are over 40 families with daughters from Qidong. Would love to hear more about your special girl. August 6, 2007

It will take time to get back to used to the Chicago time. I just hope that Kate is being a good girl because she needs all of her immunizations to be healthy. She must be healthy. I will pray only the best. Kate will cry tons and I know that from all the shots. But, they will help her. Wait till you bring the baby. I will be so happy to see you and the baby. You are so sweet and so is Kate. Can't wait to see you again. It will be the greatest gift to everyone when you come back.

Regina and Joe:

My sincerest congratulations to both of you. Joe, I'm sure you realize that all girls are daddy's girls, and what a treasure you have on your hands. Regina, I think Kate is just testing out your parenting, and it sounds like you're coming through with shining colors. Just wait until she's in her teens!

She sounds like a complete gem, and I'm sure that after you get settled into a routine at home everything will be perfect. Congratulations to all of you, and have a safe trip, and we're thinking of you.

Congratulations! I am so happy for you. Nobody deserves this more. Kate will bring you many years of joy as you will to her. I know right now she is a daddy's girl (they usually are) but they go through stages. Gabriella right now is such a momma's girl. So hang in there. Best of luck to the three of you and wishing you a safe flight home.

Well, sweetie, your voice saying, "Da" while talking to your daddy and the overwhelming joy in the voices of your mom and dad says more than words could ever describe. You have been pronounced "perfect" by those two who love you most of all. Your mom is going crazy by the way, because she so wanted to put her thoughts and impressions on your website, but wouldn't you know that it's being upgraded or tinkered with in some way or other, so we all wait 72 hours at least to see what Mom and Dad will say about their Kate. Congratulations on your birth as a Lahsin Day!

I want to share with Kate something that her grandmother read to me when I was about 4 years old. It is titled A Special Kind of Love(Adoption Creed).
Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone
But still miraculously my own
Never forget for a single minute
You didn't grow under my heart, but in it.

Regina and Joe:

I really feel as though little Kate has gone through the "birth process"--and a long one at that! I'm sure the stress and emotions that you've both experienced have far exceeded the morning sickness and other pains of pregnancy, and certainly the wait has been extra long.

Regina, I can't thank you enough for all your cheerfulness during the many births that have occurred during your long wait. I think that you've truly known that this day when you pick up Kate would come, and you and Joe will certainly be wonderful parents. I can't think of a luckier child.

We'll think of you as you embark on your mission, and we look forward to hearing from you when you return.

Our warmest regards,

Thank you all for your wonderful messages!! For those who are reading this and may be confused by what DTC means, let me explain. When one's dossier gets sent to the CCAA in China, you are given a "log-in" date. This is essentially your "place in line." For those of us adopting, it is the date that marks the beginning of the Great Wait. Our agency, for whatver reason, doesn't provide us with our DTC date. Joe and I mailed our dossier to China on August 30, 2002, so our log-in date is presumably sometime in early September 2002.
