Dear Mr. Hallmark, Sir

I am writing to you from heaven,
And though it must appear
A rather strange idea,
I see everything from here.

I just popped in to visit
Your store to find a card -
A card of love for my mom,
As this day for her is hard.

There must be some mistake, I thought,
Every card so filled with worth,
Except I could not find one card
From a child whose not on earth.

She is still my mother, too,
No matter where I reside.
I had to leave, she understands,
But, oh, the tears she's cried.

I thought that as I wrote you,
You would come to know
That though I am no longer there,
I still love my mother so.

I visit with her in her dreams,
And she talks with me all the time,
She wonders if that's really me,
Would you let her know I'm fine?

She's planted many flowers,
Where my living memory grows,
She carries me with her everywhere,
No matter where she goes.

She does so many loving things,
So none will ever forget,
That I once lived and loved on earth,
Now my love she needs to get.

Oh, Mr. Hallmark, sir,
Though I no longer live on earth,
I must find a way to remind her
Of her loving, wondrous worth.

She needs to somehow receive,
My message loud and clear,
The same as other mothers will,
From children who are still there.

Thank you, Mr. Hallmark, sir,
I know you'll do your best.
For you are the one I count upon,
So to you I'll leave the rest.

Please find that way to let her know
No space or time or sea,
Will ever change the loving truth,
That my Mom she'll always be.

Psalms 34:4, 6-7 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. (6-7) This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Psalms 18:2-6 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

I haven't been on here in quite a while, but I certainly haven't forgotten about Cameron. I figured I would hop on here to see if there are any updates, then I realized you are coming up on 5 years from when Cameron left this Eart. I am so sorry, I can only imagine how hard this week is for you. I will be thinking about you and your family.

Revelation 21:1-4 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

First of all I want to say thank you for sharing your son with the world! And your family's story. He was a handsome boy and is in Heaven now smiling down on you for the courage you've had all these years. We have a little friend her name is Brooke she is 7 an 7mo ago was diagnosed with DIPG. Her family was told a few weeks ago she doesnt have long to live. Of course we are still praying for a miracle if it is in God's will. But your story has touched my life in a way so much..I will hug my daughters tighter..an appreciate every moment..the good with the bad..God spared me of Colon cancer (for now)this past year..the tumor was found early and was removed. Once again thank you for sharing your son and your journey with us.

I know how difficult Mother's Day is for those whose child is in Heaven. This poem has been a blessing for me as I hope it will be for you

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes & pray that he'll come back,
Or you can open your eyes & see all that he's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow & live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him only that he is gone,
Or you can cherish his memory & let it live on.
You can cry & close your mind, be empty & turn your back,
Or you can do what he'd want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Romans 8:35, 36-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?...Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God's Lent Child
I'll lend you for a little while a child of mine, God said,
For you to love him while he lives, and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years, or forty-two or three;
But will you, till I call him back, take good care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief,
You'll have the lovely memories as a solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return;
But there are lessons taught below I want this child to learn.
I've searched the whole world over, for teachers kind and true;
And from the throngs that crowd life's lane I have chosen you...
Now will you give him all your love? Nor think the labor pain?
Nor hate me should the angels call, to take this child back again?
To which the parents did reply...
Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys thy child will bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may...
for all the love this child will bring,
forever grateful we will stay.
But should the Angels call for him,
much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand.

Thinking of Cameron and you guys all day. Just remembering what a fun loving great kid he was. The sunset was especially beautiful today and I thought of his special positive attitude and how happy go lucky his personality was. I learned from Cameron to appreciate every day especially the little things you can laugh and have fun with. We will never forget your son and cherish the memories we have. Dear Father who art in Heaven...
Please join our family on this Thanksgiving day
And bless each one as we sit down to pray
As we remember those who have joined You above
So dearly missed and deeply loved.

Please provide us strength on this Thanksgiving day
Bless us with memories of those faraway...
Please grant patience to family and friends as we grieve
And help us reach out to others who are bereaved.

We give thanks to You on this Thanksgiving day....
For Your presence in our lives each and everyday.
For Your comfort, guidance, and never ending love...
And for taking care of our loved ones...in Heaven above.

As we light this candle on this Thanksgiving day...
And it glows in memory of those in Heaven today....
May their lights always shine down on us and give us light...
And may we feel their presence along with Yours tonight.

May the peace and tranquility of this Thanksgiving day
Be an everlasting light within each of us along the way...
Lets bow our heads and give our Thanks to God above..
For our blessings, whether on earth or in Heaven above...
Amen

I think the beginning of a new school year is especially hard for all those who've lost children. School starting is thrown in your face at every turn and you can't help but think of what grade your child would be in...what he'd be doing. Lifting up prayers right now!
Psalms 62:5-7 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Hi Carla, you may not remember me - I was a VP at Windsor High when you started teaching there. I just wanted you to know that I periodically read your journal entries and look at Cameron's smiling face. Time is an amazing thing - not necessarily good or bad, just is. I'm sure there are many others who silently frequent this site. I wish your family all the best.

For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

These words are always so very comforting! Praying!
Romans 8:26-28 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

These verses are so comforting.

I am holding all of you close in my heart and prayers today. Cameron's legacy of love lives forever in our hearts and minds.

Love. . . .Polly

Warrior Cameron,
God looked around his garden,
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest;
God's garden must be beautiful-
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain;
He knew you would never get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And hills were hard to climb
So he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered,
"Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For a part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

Hi Cameron.

We're another year closer to the time when we can all be together.

I was wondering about the sledding in Heaven. Is the snow cold? I'll bet your fingers and toes don't ache from it. And you can probably fly back to the top of the hill instead of slipping and falling as you drag the sled back up.

Tell Mamie and Jesus that I love them.

Lamentations 3:22-26 It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

I was reading in Job last night and for the first time the words really hit my heart as well as my head. I could feel the agony Job was going through. Besides his whole livelihood, he lost all TEN of his children in one moment! His agony just flows through his words in Job, yet in the midst of all that come THE most beautiful Gospel. May these words comfort you, and know I'm praying.

Surprise!!! Cameron has come up so much in the past couple days--I just had to visit. When I was cleaning my guest room I ran across a picture of him when he was like 2 months old sitting on Charles' knee looking square in the camera! The boys hadn't seen that picture--there were a bunch of old ones in there (even ChaCha at my baby shower). Of course the boys didn't recognize him but they remember their buddy well. I must admit I'm always a little shocked when they hit me with a question about him out of nowhere. I guess I'm only surprised b/c it seems I remember bits and pieces of my childhood. Their friendship was rather exciting when you think about it--I never had a friend move away to another state, travel hours to have sleepovers him, pray for him when he got sick, grieve his loss, celebrate his life, pray for his family--all before the age of 10. How could they possibly forget him? They can't and they won't. We miss him dearly and we love you all very much.

Carla,

Toni stopped by Maddie's site, which prompted a visit to Cameron's. Sorry to hear the conference is canceled- I know how much that connection means to you. All the more reason to look into a visit to Mpls.... maybe there are a few other people who you have met along the way that want to participate in an impromptu "conference" at my house. I would love it!
ChaChi will be joining Charli on the road soon... watch out, here they come! (I'm joking-knowing Charli, she's a conscientious and cautious driver, like ChaChi)
I hope you are finding ways to enjoy your summer- we are taking it easy. Keegan provides all the entertainment I need!

Love you-

Know that I'm continuing to pray!

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

Hi Carla,
We really missed you and Cameron and Charles at the dinner tonight. There were many cheers, and smiles, and tears, whenever Cameron's picture appeared in the slides. It just wasn't right without you guys. Your boy is loved and missed by his classmates and so many others. It is not fair that this has to happen to kids. Cameron should have been there himself but his spirit and happy smile and great attitude came shining through!

We little knew that morning that God was going to all your name,

In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brooks and Charli,

I wanted to say my own hello to your family. My mom wrote the one below this morning as I was rushing to get ready for fencing.

I think about Cameron often. There is a boy in my class who looks just like him in the older sixth grade boy way. I guess he was wondering why I was always staring at him, so oneday he called my cell phone and asked me out. First of all I am not allowed to even go out but I also had to tell him the big truth: the reason I stare at him is because he reminds me of Cameron Brooks. He was pretty cool about that I have to say.

I still think about how much Cameron loved Sponge Bob and I still love that show too after all these years. My favorite ones are still when Pearl the whale (Mr. Crabs daughter) has her birthday party and the one when Sponge Bob and Patrick adopt the baby oyster. I bet you know the ones I mean.

Please know that I always think of Cameron. I have not been to Cameron Brooks brook in Central Park but I am going to go this week and leave Skittles and red Mountain Dew for my buddy boy. like my mom said he is always in my heart.

These verses contain the reason why we have the hope of life to come. Know that I'm still praying for your family!
Ephesians 1:17-20 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Just checking in to let you know you're in my thoughts and prayers. I know Cam and Sam are snowboarding and skiing together, I'm sure there must be some snow up in Heaven for them.

This is a long section but the words are really special and comforting and special. Continuing to pray!
Psalms 86:1-7 Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

Another Year for Thee

Another year is dawning!
Dear Master, let it be,
In working or in waiting,
Another year with Thee!

Another year of leaning
Upon Thy loving breast,
Of even deeper trusting,
Of quiet, happy rest.

Another year of mercies,
Of faithfulness and grace;
Another year of gladness,
In the shining of Thy face.

Another year of progress,
Another year of praise;
Another year of proving
Thy presence "all the days."

Another year of service,
Of witness to Thy love;
Another year of training
For holier work above.

Another year is dawning!
Dear Master, let it be,
On earth, or else in heaven,
Another year for Thee!
