Melissa, my name is Emery, and I was in your yearbook class at Clark the year Parker was diagnosed. I've prayed for him often, and now look to him as an example of someone who had low odds, and beat them! My 1 year old niece was diagnosed with ALL when she was 3 months old. She went into remission shortly after, and we were so grateful. Sadly, she relapsed just a few weeks before her birthday. She, too, is in great need of a bone marrow transplant. In fact, today we are holding a blood and bone marrow drive for her at the central california blood center in North Fresno and Visalia. We are very hopeful we find a match for Lauryn, just like Parker did. Your very brave son and your entire family have helped give us hope and encouragement, that we will find her a match, and she will be able to celebrate her 2nd birthday...and 3rd and 4th...! We will continue to pray for Parker, as well as your family, in hopes that he will soon see the day when he doesn't have to worry about cancer!

I got as message from your grandmother Ilene to visit your web page and see how you were doing. You have a great web page and some awesome pictures. You are in my prayers and have been for a very long time. I pray for only good things for such a fine young man. May God's blessings be upon you everyday as you face whatever comes your way with courage, strength, faith, and tenacity. God bless.

Big Woohoo for Parker making it to year 6. Wish I was there to give him a BIG hug at Duke. His artwork is proudly framed in my hallway and everyday I am reminded of my favorite miracle when I see them. I'm moving to NYC this month to be with my fiancee and start another amazing adventure. I can't wait for Parker to get old enough to travel. Give him a credit card and tell him to drive and explore this amazing country. Such Freedom. I think of all of you and so happy everyone is doing well. All my best. xoxo Jen (Parker's favorite port accessing nurse-haha).

I hope your checkup in July goes really well and that you continue to make the amazing progress you have done so far. How is the art work coming along. I love your pictures. So keep up the good work. Parker, I am a friend of your grandma Ilene - we went to school together, many eons ago.

I am so sorry for all the pain you've had to endure. Many people are watching and seeing how strong you are. You are an encouragement to many other people. You are an encouragement to me.

My husband has been going through a great deal of pain - they put a "pain pump" inside of him. It helps but doesn't take all the pain away. He has been strong through all of it also. Every morning he awoke when the pain was extreme he would pray, "Jesus don't let me waste this pain today."

Your strength has been an encouragement to me to be strong for my husband.

God has made you very special. It is hard at times because we can't always understand why God is letting us go through such horrible times. But this I know! Jesus has something very, very special for you. Hold His hand as you go through every day, know He is right there with you. Talk to Him continually through the day - He never leaves your side.

Parker, Aunt Lynn is always amazed at how tough you are. I've learned that God gives us many tests during our lives, and we sometimes do a lot of struggling along with our prayers. You've been through so much in your young life and fought so hard for your health - - I'm thinking one day soon you'll conquer these problems. Imagine, you may be healther than anyone when you are an old guy! Love you. Uncle Lee wants to add a word..... When are you going to go fishing at Huntington. You'd better get that on the calandar also.

Hi Melissa,
It was great to meet you and Parker at Duke. Glad to hear that most of the 5 year testing results were okay. It is so difficult as a parent to watch your little guy in pain and I hope there are not too many UV treatments left to go.

I have followed your blog for many years now and your courage and love in the face of all that you go through continue to inspire me.

With many prayers and best wishes for smooth sailing on the upcoming tests and surgeries.

It is so great to read your update and see that your last check up went well. I am sorry to hear some of your treatments are so painful. I hope you feel a tiny bit of comfort in knowing that they are working. You are such a trooper!! Just like all those troops you saw on your plane. You are both fighting very difficult battles and that takes courage for all of you and all of your families. Way to go!! I have no doubt your speech went just great!! Melissa ..it's been way too long..since I was able to check up on Parker. I lost many of my older caringbridge sites..and was quite stunned so much has ocurred since my last visit. Your precious family has traveled such a difficult road..my heart is touched and broken for your son. I know he's got a smile on his face...which in itself is the miracle of the bigger picture..but how sad he's faced such a trial. What a strong heroic young man you have..and what an amazing Mother and Father he has! I shall be sure to continue to hold him in prayer. May your Holidays be filled with the joy of each other..and I join in thanksgiving of Parker's miracle.

And you really do have the coolest riding gear! :) I am happy your mom posted about the blood drive coming up too. I am sure we will be there. We will also be going to a dinner/party at the SaveMart Center put on by the FSU basketball team that same evening - I bet you have been to it before. From what I understand the kids from the oncology clinic are invited. Maybe we will see you there too. My boys are excited to go. Hi Meliss -- I know I haven't talked with you in quite some time. I only just got word recently about what's been going on and was able to find this website today. There's probably not a lot I can do for you and your family other than pray (which I've been doing!), but if there's anything at all, I will certainly do my best. Feel free to call and cry, vent, whine, or use my ear as a sounding board. Bryna (my daughter) is at this point, knock on wood, doing well. We went through transplant in Palo Alto at Stanford's Children's Hospital on July 11, 2008, and as yet, seems to be doing well. So far, there's been no sign of leukemia and naturally, that means the PH+ is also non-existant. I have to go, but I wanted to stop by, tell you that 1-1/2 yrs ago, when I was struggling with many decisions, your advice and friendship helped get me through. If you need me, I'm here. gnathan@sbcglobal.net

Hi Parker - SOOOOO happy to hear you made it through your surgery with such good news (clear margins). Josef and I think of you often. Whenever he has to do something he does not like I remind him that you were brave and did it too. Even though you and Josef have only met a few times, whenever I mention your name he tunes right in and asks about you. Thank you for being an inspiration to our family and particularly to my son. Oh - and thank you for the tapes too!!! We have not owned a VCR for a long time but when we got those tapes the boys and I had fun hunting one down at a yard sale. We got one for $5. How cool is THAT!!! Now we can borrow vhs movies from Josef's grandma too, who has about 50 disney movies. It's been great! Thank you!!

~Melissa~

When I clicked on Parker's CB site, I saw New Pictures and thought ( to myself ) Parker looks great!
How Awesome! Continued looking at the picture's love the one of you & the boys holding the
sign saying Life Is Good...Everyone is so Happy and thing's are going Great ( in my heart I felt so grateful to God for HIS amazing love ).
Then I scrolled down and began to read the Journal's .....( sigh )............ with a Big sigh, Huge lump in my throat, tears flowing down my check ) I continued to update myself on this precious family and Parker one of The Bravest young Boy's I've ever known.
I went off line and PRAYED I didn't post on the guest book..sometimes there are truly No words to express the pain that can enter your heart....saying many, many prayers
Your All in thought's, my heart & prayers
sending many Hug's from my heart to your's,
Kris

I am relieved reading this post, Melissa. I think it's a good report. It sounds like everyone is being cautiously optimistic. (I'm still trying to wrap my head around treating skin cancer with a sunburn. It's all so confusing.) But I am glad that his immune system won't be compromised! That is a huge relief right there! Plus the fact that he won't lose his hair or get chemo tells me that they aren't going aggressive with this thing, which is so reassuring. I'm sad he's going to miss school Monday, but I'm feeling good that he won't be missing many more. Thanks for keeping us posted!

Hi Parker and family,
I was a CIT at Camp Sunshine Dreams this summer, and was paired up with Parker's cabin for all of the activities. He was such an energetic and fun boy to be around. I had so much fun being around him, he truly is a special boy. I wish you and Parker luck in your upcoming days, months, and years. I look forward to seeing him again at Camp next year.
If you would like, I have some pictures of Parker from camp this past year, so if you contact me I can send you them.

Parker - you are an ironman. A man of steel. I know you are a kid, and I am an adult, but you are my inspiration. I had to have some spots of suspicious skin taken off just a few weeks ago. A few were cut away, a few burned away. I was frightened - but I thought about how brave you approach all of your treatments and decided "I can be as brave as Parker". I love you my little friend. At last night's Team in Training practice, our coach asked (as he usually does) if anybody wanted to dedicate our run to anyone special....I told them about Parker and asked for everyone's thoughts and prayers as you were awaiting the results. We will continue to pray for God's divine healing for Parker and for the strength, courage and peace that only God provides. Though I don't have the "right" words to say, please know that your family is surrounded by many prayer warriors who are going to battle for you! May God keep you all in His precious care!

Hi Melissa - I'm friends with the Binghams. Isaiah and my son Alex had their transplants at Duke at the same time. Alex has a lot of the same issues that Parker has... GvHD, Skin Cancer, Growth Hormone and starting puberty early. I wanted to let you know that instead of the monthly shot to delay puberty they can insert a time release drug under the skin that is good for a year or so. Alex gets the monthly shot but his friend has the implant. Just wanted to pass along the option.

I am sorry to hear that Parker is still having to deal with so much. I know how hard it is to see your son continually dealing with so many health issues. But I have to say he is one lucky boy to have such wonderful parents to support him the way you do. And WOW!!! Another trip to Hedricks Motor Sports, we are so jealous!! What a treat to go fishing and catch so many fish!! Chase and David have gone fishing several times this summer, but on most trips they have only came home with 1 fish (lol). I hope you all are enjoying the rest of summer vacation. Take care!!

I pray also for the teasing to stop. I don't know why kids are not more informed about cancer since it seems to be in everyone's lives anymore.
If I can do anything please let me know. You can call me anytime or contact me on Ashley's caringbridge www.caringbridge.org/visit/ashleyroberts
Stay strong in your faith and hug our Parker tight.
I miss the hockey games and being able to connect with all the cancer families.
Love you all,
Wendy

I saw thin cotton gloves in the Oriental Trading company's catalog. They sell them for use at b-day parties that are magician themed. Maybe they'll give a discount if you buy in bulk. Good luck, my prayers are with you all.

Hello Parker and the Fritch Family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers as you plow through another hurdle in your journey. I know how disappointed you all must be. Be assured that you are frequently remembered and lifted up in prayer. It makes me so angry when I read how Parker is teased. All I can say is to remember that the ones on earth who were last will be first, and the first will be last. Parker, all of these trials will help you. Hang in there.

Dear, dear Fritches: My heart is broken for you once again. We hope this treatment will be successful, as I know you do - you know they always give you all the bad news first. Here's praying Parker will sail through this treatment with minimal discomfort. There are new Cancer treatments all the time, so every year is progress. We love you, love you, love you all so much - can that help take away some of the pain? It's all we have.

Parker, I just love the pic of you on your snowboard. I could never do that without falling on my face! You look awesome in your snowgear and like you're having a great time.

Melissa, I do pray for a cure for Parker and continued strengh for you and your family. Having worked in healthcare, I've had the opportunity to share in the frustration of patients and parents who are looking for answers to various problems. The most important thing that I have learned is that Doctors don't always have all the answers (as you know). One of the Doctors I used to work for would tell frustrated patients, "The body doesn't always read the book."

Stay strong, breathe, and just get up each day and put one foot in front of the other. In the meantime, you are in my prayers!

I look forward to more posts by Parker on Zac's website and to seeing some pics of the "Extreme Makeover" demo if you take any!

Hi Parker,

Merry Christmas! I hear you have a present from Zac that you can't open until Christmas. Only 2 more days! How cool is that by the way!
Also, I'm praying that you do not get those chicken pox. When my boys were little, we used to 'hang out' with other Mom's so our kids could get them and get it over with; not even realizing that something like chicken pox could be so terrible for a few like yourself that must avoid them.
I hope you have a happy holiday season!

So you have friends now also over here in the middle of the Indian Ocean!

And if you like stories and photos of animals, especially polar bears and wolves (they do have a lot in common with you too as they also have to fight with our help for survival due to climate change or ignorance of some people), then you and your friends are also welcome to visit the K-files, it's another blog of me which is a lot about a young polar bear in Berlin who was hand-raised. His name is Knut and I know he is even famous in USA.

Poor Parker....I really am bummed to hear that his trip ended on such a sour note. I wish I was there with you, I'd have encouraged Parker to itch, cough, and spread other imagined germs all over the man. He had no reason to flip out and be rude. I know Parker has been through the ringer, he doesnt need some ignorant jerk making him cry. But other than that, I am glad that you were able to have such a nice time otherwise. We are praying for the skin boogers....Go is truly faithful. God Bless!

Now, onto the jerk on the plane..my blood is boiling reading that! But, you, my friend showed so much compassion and grace to that man by not beating him down. You definitely are an example we can all learn from--good for you! You taught Parker a valuable lesson, I am sure in how you responded!!
We are always praying and thinking of you all who lead the way for people like us to follow your story!

Love from GA-

Parker and Family,

You continue to amaze and inspire me! From the day I first met you all at CHCC you are a living example of Courage, Faith and Strength. Thank you for sharing your travels and your souls. As for the guy on the plane, well Karma has a way of playing itself out and hopefully his luggage was lost and he missed his next flight.

Many Blessing to your family!

Ciao and Shalom!

Parker you are really my Hero. What a brave kid getting up in front of all those people to give the invocation, speeches, and showing your works of art. Don't sweat the way people see you on the outside, you are beautiful. Those dots look like freckles, not chicken pox....and freckles are awesome. Good job kid! You can do anything you put your mind to.

I love all the new photos. Thanks for sharing. I am so proud of the way you handled that man on the plane because I'm not sure I could have done that. I am so proud of all that Parker is doing in the fight against blood cancers. Your family is truly a blessing to me.

You should have told paranoid Airplane guy that what Parker has is waaaaaaay more contagious than chicken pox, and suggest that he not breathe the whole flight. Sometimes people are just ignorant. I would sit by Parker anytime, he is adorable!!

Wow! Meeting Jimmie Johnson! I would so love that! I am a 48 fan! I feel for you Parker, I may not know what you are going through but that guy on the flight was totally uncalled for. He should not assume you have the Chicken Pox. I am sorry you had to go through that. People are ignorant. Anyways, you look great and I do hope things get better for you! I envy you getting to go to Hendricks motorsports every year. My dream is to go and take my daughter there. She is starting to love Nascar and #48 and she will be 8 years old soon too!

Melissa.. I share your joy and pride in Parker. I certainly wish I could have heard that prayer. How wonderful he received some great gifts and had special surprises along his journey. I will continue to hold Parker in prayer for the GVH of the skin..we faced it with our Markie post BMT. It's a "booger" to get it to burn-out for sure. We had continual issues..but don't lose heart they will find an answer for him..we shall all *believe for it!
I can't even imagine sitting next to that terrible man on the plane...your to be commended for holding back. Parker is learning so many "life-lesson's" far sooner than most. He is so precious and has the bravery and fortitude of someone three times his age. Your family is such a blessing to all you come into contact with..may you continue to shine your light for all to see....
God bless...

Hey Fritsch family. Sorry I missed you at the gym the other night. I was out running in the icky heat. I hope you will come back to the gym another time when Sammy and Karagin are there. Can you imagine Sammy and Conner together there? That thought makes me smile too.
Hope your camping trip is going well.
I had to grin just now when I read that you wouldn't go off the high dive Parker. (I'll let you in on a little secret - I don't do the high dive ether. I think I have gone down the ladder once or twice too.) Now I'm going to expect an update on the high dive progress. Oh I love hearing about your "normal healthy kid" activities! It's just so wonderful that you are able to report about fun things now after all the not so fun you've all been through. I look forward to hearing all about your camping adventure and that Daddy passed his bar exam, So be sure and update again soon.

I am so sorry that you have been so sick Parker. I know recovery is proving to be slow but I am glad you are at home and starting to feel better. Andrew started throwing up for no reason the other night and even though it has been 7 years since transplant, my husband gave the big "why us" sigh. Andrew turned out to be just fine but it is hard to shake that feeling or that worry. I tried to remind him that not everything is transplant related and that all kids get sick and throw up. I am glad you have parents that take such good care of you and a fantastic place to fix you up. I hope that is your one and only trip to the hospital this summer. Love, Anne

For the past couple of months I have been trying to remember Parker's last name so that I could look for his caringbridge site. I have a picture of Ethan and in the background Parker is sliding down one of those blow up slides they had at the Walk. It wasn't till today that I thought that maybe you might have left a message on Maddy's site. As I scrolled through her guest book I came across many people we have come to know on our journey with Maddy. Then I was pleasantly surprised to find your entry with your last name, but no caringbridge address. So I googled Parkers name in hopes that I would find his site and came across articles of about him and his art. WOW!! I hope life is treating you well. You have continued to be in our prayers since the day we met you. I'm so happy I found his site. Now I can keep in touch.

Hey Parker!

I don't know you and you don't know me, but my TNT coach Albert Chavira spoke of you on our ride last Saturday so I wanted to say hello. I was impressed with the drawing that you made of the bikes for the TNT jersey a couple of years ago. Albert showed us the jersey that he still keeps because it is very special to him. Your story and the drawing put a smile on my face and made me have a positive attitude for the days ride. I read your journal updates and had two connections. One, I am from North Carolina (now living in Fort Worth, Texas) and am familiar with Duke Med Center and the expert staff there and March 23, the date of your new cells, is my birthday.
I will keep you in my thoughts and say a prayer that the 3 year check up is good. That's a nice bike! Hopefully in a couple of years I will see you on a TNT ride (maybe Solvang or Tahoe) and get to shake your hand!
I am keeping the faith!
