Day +1,844
5 YEARS POST-TRANSPLANT!!

Welcome to my Web site. On February 27, 2004, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with the Philadelphia Chromosome. I received three blocks of chemotherapy in Greenville, N.C. before coming to Duke for a stem cell transplant on June 30, 2004 (my 14th birthday). I would love to hear from family and friends, so please drop me a note as often as possible

Day 1844. Well, summer is still flying by. I got my dentist, orthodontist, and eye appointments out of the way this week, and my wisdom teeth are coming out on Monday. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly with that and that I won't look like a chipmunk for too long. I had a wonderful "double birthday" at the beach this year. We had great weather almost the whole time we were down there and enjoyed the relaxation before everything gets busy again in about a month. Here are the pictures I promised of my nineteenth birthday/five-year transplant anniversary.

Anna, Caroline, and me on the way to the first hole of putt-putt

I talked Dad into driving the go-carts with me; he's behind me somewhere.

We thought it was interesting that the shadow in this picture looks like George Washington's head.

On the Beaufort waterfront

Mom celebrated with me since our birthdays are so close.

Many family and friends have been wearing these LiveStrong bands since my transplant five years ago. This is the first time that Dad and I have taken them off. We will continue to wear them in honor of the kids who are still fighting cancer on and off of 5200. For me, the armband has been a reminder of Philippians 4:13, "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength," since the beginning of my journey.

It is so hard to get a good picture of Mollie; out of 100 pictures, there are usually five good ones.

Thanks to everyone who has kept up with my story for so long. I hope you continue to have a great summer!

In Christ,
Meredith
