I just wanted you to know that I saw you speak about Emma Grace after she passed away. I was a guest with County Cares at St. Jude and you touched my heart so, that I left the room and immediately called my little girl. You had used "sweet baby girl" as you wrapped up and it was a secret code between my daughter and me. You and your story so touched me that Emma Grace's card is still in my date book, to pull out and remember. Please know I think of you and your child often and hope you are doing well.

Trish, please know that we are all thinking of you and praying for you this week especially. I was saddened to hear of Barney's passing and even though you weren't together that doesn't mean it's been an easy time for you or your son.
Even in times of sorrow there are joyful moments and I can't help but think of the Joy in Emma Grace's heart today as she is rejoicing with her Daddy. She was the ultimate Daddy's girl and she has waited so patiently for him. I pray that you are given peace and find comfort in those that surround you every day. Know that you will always be in our prayers and Emma Grace is forever etched in our hearts. I still come here every day just to look at her beautiful face and now I can't help but see her laughing and playing with her daddy and how much joy that brings her. She will always be watching over you and waiting for you to join her and give her hugs and lots of love.
Hugs and prayers from MN

Happy Birthday sweet Angel, there is not a day that goes by that we don't think about you and check your website. Even though I never got the chance to meet you, you changed my life forever in the most uplifting, spiritual way. I got to meet your mama a couple years ago at the Shake for Jake, by the way say hey to Jake for us. I am not with my kids today, they are in MN and I am in GA on business but we promised that we would send you pink and purple balloons from both places today. Belle's favorite colors are pink and purple and I think of you everytime I walk into her room as it is all decked out in Pink and Purple. I can't believe you would be 10 years old today, I hope you are having the party of the century up there, we miss you down here, but we have faith and we believe so we know we will see you again.
Love you your mama and Eli today as I know they are missing you like crazy.

Barney, Trish, & Eli,

Hello! My name is April. I came across your web page by a link included in edenshope.org (a foundation created to help families with financial aid during cancer treatments). The Adams Family are friends of my sister's. Eden passed away on Dec. 29, 2008 after a 4 year battle with Neuroblastoma at the age of 8. Although I had not seen Rourke & Lisa in many years & never had the opportunity to meet Eden, I believe it was God's hand that led me to her journals and then to yours. I grew up in the church but didn’t really “get it” and had not attended during my adult years. I had many unanswered questions & had run into people that would speak the word, but not act as they should have. I allowed those people to distract me from God. I always considered myself a Christian, but didn't realize being a Christian in mind is not the same as being a Christian in heart. My husband & I were struggling with going back to church for about a year when my sister mentioned Eden's blog. I became addicted. I stayed up night after night to catch up & then checked in on a regular basis. I was in awe of her spirit, her courage, her maturity. I felt so connected to them through their journals. It was during this time, I was being tested for MS. I was pretty depressed about the possibility of having MS (just the possibility). Their journals brought on a whole new light for me. How dare I sit around & mope over something that was treatable & still allowed me to live a pretty normal life? I have been blessed with 3 happy & healthy children. I have a great husband & a great job. Why was I so down? My husband & I knew it was time to go to church and start our journey to knowing God again. If all else fails, who could we possibly turn to if God was not in our lives?
As I am reading your journals, I am once again struck by words of wisdom, amazing spirits, and your faith in God, which continued even in the darkest moments of your lives. I can not even begin to imagine the pain & frustrations you had while watching your child go through what she did and now, 4 years later, living life without her. I’ve yet to make it through your entire journal (am in Nov. 2006 as we speak) but am certain I read every passage, every word, every quoted scripture. I have a new perspective on life & now know that through God, I can do anything and without Him, I can do nothing. I believe that these children, your families, the families of St. Jude Hospital have brought me back to Jesus Christ. Along with my new journey to knowing Jesus again, I’ve embarked on another. I’ve dreamed of being a pediatric nurse since middle school. I became a mother at 19 & my dreams were put on hold. Now at the age of 32, I’ve enrolled in a nursing program so I can live my dream as a pediatric nurse. These journals opened my eyes and heart to my dream again.
After many, many, many prayers, I believe God is telling me this is the right time.
I want to thank you for sharing your story, for allowing others into a world that many of us don’t understand, and for being the Christians you are. The world needs more families like yours & I’m going to try my hardest to become one!

God Bless You!

April

Just checking in--haven't signed on here in a long time--still can talk to you on the phone a lot quicker than I can type !! We treasured your recent visit with us--just wish it could have been longer, but we will take whatever we can get. Thanks for adding me to your list and I want everyone who reads this to know I appreciate the prayers all through the years that our family have received as a result of YOUR love and prayers. Your whole family have been special to us since your 2nd day at St. Jude--and always will be. I still miss our precious Emma Grace, and always will--I love to imagine her painting the sunsets or bouncing on the clouds--and I can just see her "splaining" to God why something needs to be done a certain way. Can hear her telling me "DUH" when she caught me in one of my "not very bright moments." Love that girl !! Give Eli a hug for me and know I love you all bunches !! Mimi Sharyn

Thought I'd stop by to wish you a Happy New Year, and lo and behold, an update!

Oh, I just love your heart Trish. I've learned so much from you as you continue to remain STEADFAST, UNMOVED and so totally in love with Jesus.

I also learned from your princess who graced our lives with her love, her joy, and her precious spirit.

I've missed you my friend.

Glad God has you right where he planted you. I know those kids must ADORE you!

Looking forward to all God has in store.

Oh, Eli, what a son!!

I could not let this day go by without wishing you and Eli a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Down here in Monroe, our friends, the Smiths, had a big scare with Allen on his checkup at the Jude. Dr. Pui was almost sure he had relapsed. Within hours hundreds if not a thousand folks were praying for a Christmas miracle. Allen's dad got to Memphis in record time and numerous tests were done the next day. Then wait. The next day, the first reports came back good, but the MRD test was another wait. The following day the miracle came.

We do not know why Allen had bad initial tests and re-tests, but it was not an ALL relapse. This past Monday his blood was tested here in Bastrop, and his numbers were absolutely perfect. (Why are we surprised when God does a perfect miracle???)!

I thought to myself, Trish would say, was that ODD or was that GOD!!! Well, we know don't we, honey. This really made my Christmas. It took away all the stress that I put on myself to create the perfect celebration. It taught me to let God give the presents and the celebration, just like HE did when HE sent the perfect GIFT to this planet over two thousand years ago. One day I will get to hear the angels sing like they did when Jesus was born, and I just know that Emma Grace will be on the front row singing her heart out for her King.

With love from LA.

It is very early Thanksgiving morning. I have a bad cold and cough. It woke me up! As I lay there trying not to cough, I began to thank God for all my numerous blessings: Jesus, and all that HE accomplished for me on the cross; the fact that God did not leave Jesus in the grave, so that I could see what is in store for all believers after physical death. I thank God for my husband, sons and their wives; how I could end up with three great, godly men in my life just swells my heart with joy and thankfulness. I also am thanking Father God for my parents who still live independently at 81 and 82. They poured into me a love for God and HIS Son at an early age, for which I am deeply thankful. My parents invested a huge amount of their mosdest income sending me to a private Christian college, that continued my understanding of God and HIS ways. I thank God for my church here in Bastrop, with our superior pastor who challenges us weekly to be on mission as we live our lives, looking for a chance to tell someone about the greatest gift ever given, Jesus Christ.

We had a devestating blow to our town this week; our largest employer, International Paper Mill was closed permanently. Over 500 families are without jobs. This may be the death blow to our little town, but I know the God who is in total control of this situation; HE is faithful to care for HIS children, period. I refuse to allow my faith in HIM to be shaken by economics, politics, wars or disease. HE is my ROCK, and FORTRESS, and my HIGH PLACE of SHELTER! I will not fear. I will give praise and worship to the God of my salvation, for everything.

"I love you Lord, and I lift my voice to worship YOU, oh my soul rejoice. Take joy my KING in what YOU hear. May it be a sweet, sweet sound in YOUR ear."

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Mrs. Trish and Eli. How are you and let us hear from you soon, girl. I thank God for you and your friendship to me.

Sweet Emma Grace, Happy Birthday, belated birthday as I did not make it here on Sunday. We thought of you often though. I can not believe that you would be 8 years old already and that it's been three years since you left us. We pray for your momma and bubba and daddy everyday. I actually got to meet your momma at the Shake 4 Jake this year. I was so honored to have that privaledge; I wanted to sit and talk with her but everyone was so busy including us (we were the crazy ones trying to occupy 4 kids)but next year we are building that time into our trip.

(Unfortunately, I usually fall asleep while praying, but not this morning when I really need to!!). So why not get up and on computer to check out some sites? How is your dad doing, and mom? I know that you must be busy helping them out in betweeen working and that great son of yours. Wishing you a wonderful day, and tell Eli that Mrs. Fay prays for him every day (right behind my own sons).

Maybe we will get up to northwest AR this fall. Hope so.

HELP ST. JUDE BY CREATING A PEPPER AT CHILI'S TO FIGHT CHILDHOOD CANCER!!!!

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Chili’s Grill & Bar® announced the kick-off of their fifth annual Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign. - Make a donation to St. Jude and receive a Create-A-Pepper chili pepper coloring sheet designed for display at restaurants during the month.

- Purchase Create-A-Pepper T-shirts that can be customized with permanent marker.

- Buy a customized Create-A-Pepper key that can be cut for use at home or the office.

- Eat at Chili’s on Monday, Sept. 29, when Chili’s will donate 100 percent of profits from participating restaurant sales to St. Jude.

Hey Trish and Barney, this is someone from over 3 years ago, we had just gone back to South Dakota when EmmaGrace got her angel wings. We (Shiloh and family) are still able to attend St. Jude's in Memphis for regular checkups and all is going well. We've moved a couple of hours away back to Shiloh's dads hometown in Iowa, live on an acreage and farm (or garden in a large way), and mom, Shiloh and 1 sibling just got back from a 3 month check and we don't go to memphis without thinking of your whole family and how you have made such a wonderful impact on our lives, all 8 of us. We were just discussing how a trip to the Jude's can help us focus on the kindness that we can pass on, the kindness that you passed on to us first. Our Mary is now 7 years old and she still has the book that EmmaGrace gave her at Judes just days before EmmaGrace started her last leg of her journey here. The generosity that your little girl (and Trish and Barney) showed us is being passed on by Shiloh and her family. Shiloh now makes hats and on her visits to the hospital passes out the head warmers to the cute baldies she sees, knowing first hand how it's so hard to stay warm with no hair. Shiloh again is doing well, as is the whole family and we ALL know how blessed we are and carry the light YOU'ALL (Iowegians attempt at speaking in a southern drawl) shared with us, and we try to share that light with all who cross our paths.
It's also potato digging time here in Iowa, and in celebration of a life well lived, Shiloh's dad does a little tater diggin ' dance he picked up from an angel over 3 years ago. I hope all is well with you, and from the carrolls, THANKS again!!!!!

Hello Mrs. Trish. I was so happy to hear a bit about you and Eli. Harold and I are praying for Eli's trip to Texas, and for yours to W Monroe. We will not make Shake for Jake because our MS kids need us over there. When the kids get grown and still want mom and dad to come, we hop to it.

I just hate missing seeing you, but know that we love ya, and pray for you each day.

Trish:

It seems so hard to believe that it has been 3 years since Emma Grace joined Stanton in Heaven. But then again, it seems like yesterday. I know how much you all miss her. Know that your journey has been an inspiration to so many of us that you have never met. The stories of laughter, faith, despair, love -- each and every one held a lesson for me. Emma Grace touched more hearts in the short time she spent on Earth than many do in a lifetime. My love, thoughts and prayers are with you all especially today as we all remember your sweet little blue eyed girl.

Happy Angelversary Emma Grace, I can not believe it has been three years since your momma posted the news here. While we have never met, I followed your journey and I still follow your momma's journey. I learned so much from you and I came to know and understand what it truly means to have faith like a child. I have no doubt that you, Stanton, Zoie and Jake are running, jumping, climbing and loving playing together in God's Garden. Your momma misses you so much and so does your brother and your daddy. Please send them a little something today to let them know you are with them. We continue to pray for your family as they find strength everyday to move forward. Fly high with the angels Emma Grace, we miss you forever.
Trish and family,
Know that today like everyday you are in our thoughts and prayers. But especially today, as you mark another year without your very precious angel girl. We will be releasing pink and purple balloons today here in MN at around 6:30 pm. Emma's journey had such a profound effect on my life and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing her and her journey with us and thank you for continuing to share your journey with us.
Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers today and always.

PS I hope to get to meet you at the shake 4 Jake this year. I was not able to make it last year but I will be there this year.

Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
I feel you everywhere I go.
I see your smile, I see your face,
I hear you laughin' in the rain.
I still can't believe you're gone.

It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell that I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who'd you be today?

Would you see the world? Would you chase your dreams?
Settle down with a family,
I wonder what would you name your babies?
Some days the sky's so blue,
I feel like I can talk to you,
An' I know it might sound crazy.

It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell that I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who you'd be today?

Today, today, today.
Today, today, today.

[Instrumental Break]

Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
The only thing that gives me hope,
Is I know I'll see you again some day.

Some day, some day, some day.

Trish,
I am listening to our local radio station's Country cares 4 kids radiothon to benefit St. Jude. I have been listening to this since it started this morning at 5:00 am and have been paying very close attention to the stories and all of a sudden, I hear this voice on the radio talking about this little girl who is now walking on streets of gold with her St. Jude friends and siblings and then the voice comes on again talking about "those blue eyes see clearly what we can't and tiny ears are listening to a live angel band" and I knew right then you were talking about Emma Grace. I just had to stop by here and let you know that I heard it and I got to share Emma Grace's website and story with the people around me. It drove home that these stories are not about just any child but we know them. Several of my co-workers signed up to be partners in hope after hearing that song.
I continue to check this sight often and we always celebrate Emma Grace's angel day and birthday by sending her balloons. We love you and send our prayers to you every day.

Hi Trish, I'm a good friend of Chris Kirkman - Tonight while watching American Idol's auditions in South Carolina (maybe you saw it but if not - this is amazing), the very last person to audition got called away on the first day of auditions because his wife went into labor. So on day 2 of the audition, he showed up with his wife and new daughter, Emma Grace..... Sadly he didn't make it to Hollywood, but I just found it interesting and thought I'd share. I check in on Emma's page on occasion to get caught up. Your strength is amazing and you are in my continued prayers. Take care - Amy

Trish,
Happy Belated Birthday!
I can't believe it's been so long since I've signed. I come to the site almost daily to check to see if you've updated us with new inspiring words.......I sure miss your daily updates.
The picture of you and Eli is great. Man is he tall and you....you look fabulous! My precious one is now 8 1/2 months old and keeps me busy, however, just like his older brother and sister he loves the song on Emma's page. Everytime I check in, he will stop what ever he's doing and listen. It's almost like angels are talking to him. We still do the "Tator digging" dance around here. My kids think it's one of the funniest things ever. We can be in the store and we will all just bust out with "the" dance and start laughing until we cry..........
Emma Grace's memory lives on!!!!!!!!
As always, you are on my mind and in my heart!
With love,

I found your site not too long ago, just a few months. I keep finding myself on your page and I don't know how I end up here but it has happened quite a bit. I am taken back by the beauty of Emma's eyes. Not just the blue of the ocean and sky that one can see in them but something else that I just can't capture in words. I never saw your site prior to November 2007, but I find myself looking into her beautiful eyes at least once a week not knowing how I stumbled on her page. I felt compelled to just sign the guestbook and let you know what a beautiful angel you have in your lives.

Beautiful picture! Eli is such a handsome guy. I'll bet the girls are burning a hole in your telephone!!! I'm glad you had a blessed holiday. There was an update on Angel Gloria's family in the Seattle Times on 12/30 you can read at www.seattletimes.com/gloria. Gloria's family is stating an organization Gloria's Angels to help families with children with cancer. I have signed up to volunteer to help families with insurance forms etc and help with fundraising also. I will donate my time to honor Gloria, EmmaGrace and all of the angels.
