We got news today too. Kind of, anyway! Taylor did an upper GI and though we will not go back to the Dr for the official results until March 30th the tech said it looked like a grade 3 refulx. I really have no idea what that means in terms of asthma and allergies, but I am eager to find out.
Yeah again for your great news!!

Davis,
Taylor wanted me to tell you that he leanred to ride his bike last weekend with no training wheels!! Wow, what big, brave guys you two are!!! Things always happen in 3's and this was no exception. Our dear friend Sarah, who is a NB survivor in NC learend to ride her bike recently, then you and now Taylor. Way to go NB warriors!!! I hope you are having fun riding your bike. Taylor sleeps, eats and breathes that bike. All I hear is "can I go outside, Can I ride my bike".
How are the sinus issues coming? God always does what is best, so if it was not meant for you to have surgery that day, so be it! Taylor has been very good lately, but is snotty now. I have been irrigating with saline solution. He despises it, but it just pours out his nose and cleans him out so well that I have to do it. NOw that i have grossed everyone out I will go:)
Love to all!!

Happy Anniversary! I guess folks think itis odd for me to say that, but look how far you have come! I am so proud of you. Hey, how 'bout that bike ridin'. Taylor hasn't mastered that yet, but he is sure impressed that you did. I will be praying for your surgery this week. This is an easy one compared to what you have done in the past. Mom, I have no advice on the irrigation other than cry with him:) We are supposed to do it at least twice a day, but 4 would be better. Hah!! I do it if he is real bad snotty and let it go otherwise. He fights tooth and nail, but I can't blame him, I wouldn't want it done to me. However, it must feel good after surgery since he didn't fight AS bad. Good luck!

I am praying for great scans with no scary spots!!! Taylor had to get every shot over again!! He was only 18 months old when he got sick, so he had not even had them all yet, so I guess that is why he got so many. He didn't really mind it, I guess after all they have done, that is nothing. I am so glad that he lovs school. Taylor does too. He was on yellow light today. I hate to say it, but I am almost glad. If he is bad enough to get on yellow he is healthy and fit just like the other kindergarteners!!!

So glad to hear that Davis is still doing well. I have a little boy who will be in 1st grade at West as well. Maybe Charlie will be in Davis' class. A friend of mine from church just informed us of a little 5 year old boy who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma last Wednesday. They have told them that it is most likely stage IV. He lives in Birmingham, but is in Memphis right now for care. I believe that you all could give them some very encouraging words. He has a caringbridge site, and his name is Evan Thomason. I think you can just type in his name.
Thank you, and again, I am so glad that Davis is feeling good!

Hey all!
I am glad you had a fun trip to the beach and I am even more glad that you are spending the summer doing fun, nomral, simple things. Isn't it the best! I can toally relate to the ever present snotty issues. It seems as though it will never go away. Taylor is on his 6th straight week of antibiotic. It is a low dose to just try and keep the snot at bay for the summer and give him some releif for a bit. We did stop seeing the ENT. All he did was want to scrape his sinuses every 6 months and that wasn't helping. The allergy Dr. finally did a bunch of testing and he is allergic to dust mites which get him snotty and then clog his sinues and thus the ugly cycle. We have gotten all hypo allergenic bedding and an ionic breeze air purifier and things seem to be improving. I am interested to see what will come after the antibitics are stopped in August. I don't know if you saw the study on our site, but if not go check it out. Singulair that Taylor takes for snot and helps none at all, has been shown to stop the growth of tumors in NB kids. I was about to stop giving it to him, but we upped the does instead. I can live with the snotty nose if the singuliar is stopping tumor growth. He has been on it for 2 years and is 3 yrs post transplant. Does it mean anything? I have no idea, but he will take the higest dose possible for the rest of his life:)
Hope you have a great rest of the summer. It will be over all too soon. Taylor starts kindergarten on Aug. 10th. I think I am more nervous then he is! I will talk to you all later.
Love,
Kim

Hey Davis,
I am going to week long camp too. It is my first time and I am a little scared. Maybe we can play together while we are there. You will have to feel me in on Kindergarten, I am going in the Fall. I am a little scared about that too!
My mommy said to tell your mommy hi. I will see you later.

I am so sorry about Cosmo. We lost both our dogs within the same year and it was so hard for us and so hard for the kids to understand. After we lost the first dog, John Hardin said "So we have one dog and one dog angel?" I said yes, that is right.

So glad to see Davis and Will looking so happy and healthy!

Dear Sheri,
So sorry for the loss of your pet. It is hard because we do love our furry little critters.

I wanted to thank you for your journal entry of April 21--the first two paragraphs. The cancer journey is so hard. We weren't given a choice about cancer, we were given a child to love. I never knew that love could hurt so much as when I had to watch my son endure the torture of cancer and chemotherapy and then watched as he died. Thank you for sharing your heart.

I hope that Davis continues to do well and thrive. God bless you and your family.

I think one of my favorite things about Kindergarten was when JH learned to write and liked to write notes and letters. I have saved them all! I love seeing Davis and Will at West and at the baseball fields - they both look great! I am so sorry about the dog. We lost both our labs within the same year - very hard on the family. We were fortunate, both our dogs lived long happy, healthy doggy lives.

We did the same thing Easter morning, only we thought the service started at 8:45 and it didn't start till 9:00. I think it is the first time since Will was born that we were on time for church!

So glad everything is going well for Davis!

Take care!

Oh Sherri, I am so sorry Davis (and you all) have had to go through this. I see Will at Baseball every week and I was blissfully unaware anything was wrong. Please, please let me know if I can help by taking Will to baseball or having Will come play. Will always comes up and talks to us when he sees me at school and we always talk at the ball field. I think Will would be comfortable coming home with us or hanging out with us at the ball field. I think we have practice at the same time. Our practice is Wednesday at 4:30 pm. I will check in with Debby at All Saints' as well.

I just want to look to heaven and say "ENOUGH ALREADY!!" Davis is an amazing child and you all are an amazing family - I am so glad it turned out not to be disease. I hope you get answers and relief soon.

I am so sorry that he had to endure another biopsy and now weeks of recovery and sorry that you all had to endure another scare. I am so glad that it turned out okay. I hope the Dr. can find out what is causing this. Enough is enough! I will be praying for you all. I hope you have 2 super parties!! I think having 2 parties is a great idea!!!! As for Mr. Bailey, I haven't heard from them in some time. Last I heard was he was having trouble harvesting stem cells. He is too low on Plts still to go to CHOP. They have opted not to harvest from Schylar as the bad outways the good in that situation. I will update if I hear more. Have you talked with them?

Isn't Give Kids the World the greatest place ever. Taylor loved his "little house". I know you had so much fun, I can't wait to see the pictures. I am thrilled to hear that all tests are clear. I know it is so confusing to hear that in one breath and that there is somethin in his arm in the next? What ortho are you seeing? I am not a big fan of watch and wait myself, I am a need to know now kind of gal. Although that is not always the way it goes. I am praying for you as you wait no matter what you decide. Maybe that will find something soon to answer this. How invasive is the biopsy? There I go being nosey, it is just that I get just as emotional over the otehr kids tests as I do over Taylor's and I want answers:) Anyway, I am glad you all had safe travel and a great trip! Hey Davis and Will,
We had fun swimming with you yesterday at Breck's house. John Hardin said that was a "really fun place!" I would have to agree. I sent some fun pictures to Ms. Valerie that she is going to share with you. And Davis, despite you trying to hide from me, I got some great pictures of you laughing with green frosting in you hair and on your nose! John Hardin says he can't wait to play with all those boys again! Take Care!

Hey Davis! We had so much fun swimming with you yesterday at Miss Valerie's house! Hannah told me that she and Collins are your girlfriends...I told her y'all are too young, but you can definitely be FRIENDS! Hope you have a good weekend. Davis, I had so much fun watching you paint yourself in all of those different colors - I especially liked the pumpkin and the smile you gave me when I took your picture (sticking out your tongue!) That pool water was so cold I don't know how all of you could swim!!!! I'm glad your mom said that some of your game pieces were missing from your Sponge Bob game so you could use the one we gave you. I'll try to find something Sponge Bob that you don't already have. I bet that will be hard!!!! We'll be thinking about you this week and hope you don't have to do too much waiting! Those hours get so long at the hospital.
Praying and loving you very much!

Dear Sheri, you have been on my mind so much these last few days. I have found myself returning to Davis' site over and over again, staring at his picture.

I wish so for the perfect words to bring comfort and peace to you and your family. I told Anne Long, we search for things we can do to bring comfort, knowing there is so little we can do. So we bring meals, share a cup of coffee, babysit, offer an ear or shoulder when needed, be there in anyway we can in hopes of easing your burden.

Please know that there is a village of moms at West, ready to do anything and everything we can to help. And in every moment, you and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I continue to run for Davis everyday.

Hello Hartsell family! Lana told me about Davis and I had to come visit your site. I was at the West marathon meeting the other night, but I didn't get to meet you. We are all excited about being on both Team Davis and Scarlett's Team! We have 4 girls and our middle two girls are at West now--Mary Hayden is in Ms. Rigrish's class (2nd grade) and Hannah is in Mrs. Jost's class (K). Our oldest daughter, Caroline, is at Central this year and is also going to run! I got tickled at your story about "accidentally" volunteering to run the 1/2 marathon. I'm afraid I volunteered my husband and myself to run the whole marathon on a relay team! But when I think about Janie, Scarlett, Andrew and Davis I know I can do it--they've all been through so much. Our community has been hit so hard and these sweet, innocent children have suffered so much, it truly breaks my heart. Please know that we are praying for Davis and your whole family. Continue to LIVESTRONG Davis!

Hi Sheri, I so enjoyed meeting you and discussing the Kids' Marathon and how it is going to benefit pediatric cancer research. I am really excited that the West Team will be called "Davis' Team" and that I get to play a small part in that.

After the meeting Thursday night, Valerie said it best when she said it takes a village to raise a child and West is now Davis' village.

Please keep us informed of your thoughts, ideas and suggestions regarding the kids' race. Your input is invaluable. Also, if there is anything Davis or your family needs - please let us know. We want to be here for you for more than just race concerns.

Take Care!

I am so glad you are feeling better. I can't believe it is timeto starte the "craputane" again. I know that 2 weeks off always goes much faster than the 2 weeks on! I will be praying that this round is a little easier than last time. Taylor was de-ported yesterday as well as other things, it was a long day. HOwever, we are now home minus a port, snot, adenoids, and 8 holes in his hips from bone marrows. He looks like he was beat up. He is walking funny from the bm's and his nose is bleeding from the sinus surgery. He can't get wet due to the port removal, so he hasn't had a bath. We just got home late last night and he still has betadine all over him. He looks pretty crazy! I can't wait to see you and Hedgie again. Keep up the good work, you are doing great!

I know how yucky that "craputane" can be. Just think though, it is wiping out any hidden cancer in there, you will be zit free once your peeling goes away and you only have 5 more months to do it! That didn't help much did it?:) Bathe in Dove soap and that helps some. Coat yourself a bunch a times a day in lotion. We used shay butter and baby lotion with baby oil in it. We also used lots of shay butter chap stick. Taylor was always a greasy mess, but we had very little peeling throughout our 6 months on the stuff. He did start to vomit on the last round as they upped his dose that time. They lowered and he was fine. He still has eye problems. His eyes are still very dry and we often have to put drops in them. Our eye Dr. gave us some day and night ones that help with the dryness. He also is still very sensitive to light rather it be inside or outside. He always has on sunglasses and likes the rooms dark with just a small lamp or tv on. I do not know if that goes away or not. I know it is hard, but you will get through it and it will all be worth it in the end. I hope we get to see you soon. We will be going into the hospital Thursday for bm's and port removal! Yahoo! I can not believe it, we really didn't think that day would ever come. Even after we had it all planned we didn't think it would come. We have rescheduled it 3 times! Anyway, keep up the great work and I will check back soon.

NED!!! YAHOO!!! I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of words to see on your web site. I hate that you had to go back into the hospital for a while. We did too. Taylor went back in about a week after he got out. He had a bad sinus infection and stayed a few days then went home. That was it, so maybe you are done with inpatient stays too. I also know how much Taylor hated those arm pokes, but he is much better now. In fact, a few months ago he was asleep and she poked his arm and he never even flinched, he slept right through it. How has the Accutane or "craputane" as we called it going? HOw about NYC, any plans on that. As much as we despised the actual journey, we believed in the treatment 100%. I hope that all is well and we will see you soon. We will be at the hospital a bunch this month for different things. Maybe we will see you. We will be there 7th, 15th, 16th, 23rd.

Hi, Davis and family. We have been on vacation for a few days and I thought about Davis the whole time I was there. I was hoping to come home to great news that he was out of the hospital and feeling great. I'm sorry you have had to go through so many different things. I hope getting the line out was a success in the OR and Davis has adjusted to it (mentally). One day he will have to watch Scarlett get her blood drawn from her arm. It's amazing that little girl who to her the worst part of having leukemia was getting "poked" now just sits there with a big smile on her face talking to all of the lab technicians while having her blood drawn ...... HINT ... the only one she will let touch her though in lab in Miss Mitra. She is great and he won't feel a thing. We are always thinking of you and praying for you. And we are looking forward to some fun playdates this summer!

Davis,
I am Taylor's great aunt and he calls me Ghen Ghen(AKA Jeanna). I have heard so much about you I just had to check out your website. What a cutie you are!
This is difficult I know, but the time will pass and things will get better, especially when you get home. So hang in there and do what the doctors and nurses say and you'll be better before you know it. It's a tough fight, but with all the support and prayers you have behind you, you'll beat this thing.
God Bless!

I am so glad that I got to meet you and Hedgie today. You are one cool cat. I was also glad to hear you had been up and about, way to go. Those counts are looking great and you will be "bustin outa that lemonade stand" soon. That is what a dear transplant friend said when he left the hospital. Keep up the god work and we will see you soon. Are you going to camp this year? Maybe we will see you there.

I wanted to read that update as bad as you wanted to write it. I am so excited. You go boy! Taylor walked hardly at all and ate nothing until we went home. He ate as soon as we came in the door altough not much. He walked too, but on his tip toes. He did that for about a month and it made me a crazy women, but Dr. Lucas assured me it was normal after being in bed for a month. We went home on day 21, so maybe it wont be long. I wanted to give you the site of a freind who is 5 and doing her last 3F8 starting this week. She too has flwon through this treatment just a few steps ahead of Taylor. They are an amazing family. www.caringbridge.org/nc/morganbarnes I am praying that things get better and better from here on out.

I am so sorry that the counts didn't continue their upward climb. I am praying very hard for better days to come soon. I hope that the weekend brings higher counts, less pain and smiles all around. We will be there Tuesday, do not hesitate to call if you need anything from outside the gated community. That is what we all called stem cell unit. You all remain in our thoughts and prayers.

It is us again. You are going to get tired of hearing from us. We are just cheering you on! Hey, 370 is better than 300, it went up didn't it. Tomorrow it will be even higher! It wont be much longer before those counts come up and those mouth sores go away and things start to change. Do you still smell like creamed corn? We got the biggest kick out of the stench that billowed out of his ears and nose and it really did smell like corn. I swear none of us have had creamed corn since then!! Tell all the nurses that we said hi. I am praying for those cells to grow, grow, grow!!
Love ya,
Kim and Taylor

I think it was about day 9 when we finally got to about 200 WBC, then 700 and then on day 11 there were over 2,000. It is coming, I promise. Taylor did not get but one mouth sore. It was huge, right behind his molar and he chewed on it all the time, but we did not have the bleeding throat and all that. I am praying that that will ease soon as those counts go higher. I am so glad that mom got to go home and see the other kids. that is one thing we were not dealing with yet. Logan was born well after transplant was over. We are coming up on Taylor's 2 year mark of transplant. YOu all will be there before you know it. I am praying for you Davis!! Keep following all the rules. I know they stink, but they are what will get you better. We are coming to have a CT on April 5th. If we can get you anything before we come let us know.
Love and Prayers,
Kim and Taylor

Hi friend. I have no idea what made me type in your name and see if you have a page. I have done it before and knew that you didn't have one. However, God led me to check again and I see that you have one now. I am so glad that I can check in on you now. I have talked to your mom, but not you. My little boy, Taylor, had the same thing that you do and we did all the same nasty stuff at the hosptial. I am happy to report that he is just fine now and you will be too very soon. Keep up the good work. Do all that the Dr., nurses and mom and dad tell you and you will get better quicker.
Mom,
I know this is heart wrenching for you. When you are up at night check out our stem cell stay. It was so miserable. It is a different world than chemo on 4 tower. It will get worse before it gets better, but it does get better!!!! I know that it seems it will never come. Keep your Fatih strong and don't be afraid to get a sitter and get out for a bit. Call me on the weekends or evenings and I will be happy to come sit with him for a while. I promise I do not mind!!! Please call me anytime for anything. Email me if you do not still have my number. I am here anytime. If you all head to NYC let me know and I will fill you in on what you need to know.
I am praying everyday for those cells to grow, grow, grow!!!I am praying for the pain to stop and your strength and courage to help Davis and yourself through this.
In Him
Kim Watts
