Hello Steven has been well ,he is bed bound but happy ,it reaaly is amazing how many things you can do even if you are in bed ,he can play x box ,playstation ,dvd.video .tv ,internet on the laptop ,psp ,nintendo ,and that is just the power machines ,We have been reading and writing and drawing and playing cards and playing games ,the other day it was raining so we all sat down with Steven and had an epic game of Monopoly ,mum (I ) won ,i think it was the first time in history ,normally i am the first one to go bust ,any way things have been ok here ,Steven did have to have hes oxygen increased last week which upset us all>but we are trying not to dwell on it to much.Mark is in full swing again ,which has been a bit of a juggle as i cannot leave steven at home alone ,so i have to wait till dave gets home from work before i can take him to work or soccer training .David is awy this weekend for a horse event with one of horses ,the first event since ei broke out in Australia ,hope the horse goes well ,anyway best wishes to you all lots of love julie and family

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 7:40 PM CST

happy new year,we had a very quiet but wonderfull christmas and new year ,Steven has been very well and happy ,he has been really well the past 2 weeks ,he has been having some close friends stay over for a couple of nights ,for the past 3 weeks and has been loving that,Mark goes to hes dad for a little r and r while steven has hes friends stay over ,which has been great for everyone as Mark gets to go out and do things that teenage boys do,because when he is home he is home ,we cannot really go any where. We have had plenty of rain ,even to the point we were flooded in for 1 day ,Dave was so upset that he could not get to work.(not ).There was a lot of damage to fences and stock loses for some of our neighbours ,but we were all ok,we have full dams for the first time in 2 1/2 years ,tanks are overflowing and grass is leaping out of the ground ,(now we have to mow 3 times a week around the house)but dont get me wrong i am not complaining .lets hope steven can continue being this well for a long time to come .Best wishes to you all from julie and family.

Hello Everyone,Steven is on oxygen 24/7 now with it being slightly increased yesterday ,he is still bright and happy most of the time but is starting to use the morphine nebuliser more and more every day when he does feel a little breathless ,we had the doctor and nurse come yesterday to assess him and they are going to get a plan organised for the future ,the nurse will be coming each week from now on and this will increase as steven gets worse ,so needless to say yesterday was not a good day for me a lot of talk about the treatments required to help steven through this > steven would like to be at home when he earns his angel wings ,at this is what we are hopefully able to do.School holidays are only 2 weeks away and Mark will be home all the time to spend some quality time with steven > I know this will be hard for all of us .Thank you for all your support and best wishes.Steven is very much aware of what is going to happen and does not really ask many questins,he will only talk about things breifly ,then says lets get of this and talk about something else.He still amazes me every day with hes strength and attitude
Thank you lots of love julie

Tuesday 9th october 2007 9.30 am

Hello Everyone,Steven is slowly deteriorating ,he is on oxygen most of the time now ,but i must say it hasnt dampened hes spirits too much ,some very good friends of ours gave us a huge pile of videos which were taped movies from foxtel and the t.v so we are slowly making our way through those ,many of them are the types of movies steven really enjoys, now for our big news Mark (stevens brother) is still in bed snoring after a huge and extremley successful soccer weekend >For those who dont know Mark was selected in the Queensland state side and had the weekend in Melbourne competing in the national competition. They WON the team went through UNDEFEATED and to top it all Mark was awarded BEST PLAYER,wasnt he happy ,i thought he was going to jump through the phone when he rang on Monday afternoon ,i was very upset i could not be there to enjoy hes excitment but at the moment it was not possible i need to be with Steven.Last night i picked him up from the airport at 11.30pm and i think he was asleep 5 minutes down the road ,so the rest of the 2 hours was very boring .The things we do ,i was so tired this morning, but i guess not as much as Mark who is still asleep with Steven despreatly waiting for him to wake up so he can see what Mark got for him in the way of a present. We have had to storms the last 2 nights but with very little rain, the place is very dry again i think the drought is here to stay and we just have to live with it .best wishes to you all love julie

Monday, August 21st 8.12am

Morning to you all Steven is about the same ,but i thought i would let you know we had Rain RAIN RAIN not enough to break the drought approx 38 ml which really is only about a months worth in the tanks ,but we are not complaining we will take all we can get.The last 2 days have been heavy to light drizzle so it has really soaked in ,looking forward to seeing green in the paddock ,I had an early start today ,David rang me at 5 am he had broken down 1/2 hour away from home on hes way to work ,so i had to go and rescue him and after being up half the night on foal patrol as the mares were a little restless from the rain.so needless to say i am a little tired but i am about to go out and throw some pasture seed around out in the paddocks.Dave decided he may as well have the day of to get the car towed to the workshop,so he has taken Mark to school, and get Steven some McDonalds for breakfast.Steven is continuing to be stable ,thankfully best wishes to you all love julie david mark and steven

Tuesday, July 31, 2007 6:40 PM CDT

Hello everyone, steven has been stable in hes condition for about the last 6 weeks ,which we are extremely greatfull for,he is very bright ,happy ,not in any pain ,and very cheeky ,steven has been well ,i dont really know how as everybody else in the house has had the flu twice now, maybe its the GOJI BERRIES steven is on,Steven has everything at hes fingertips x box ,playstation, internet, dvd, music ,t.v and of course mum.Mark is just about finished soccer for the year only a couple of games left, they have already won the minor premiership on points so we just have to hope they can win the Grand final in about 1 months time ,he also got picked for the Queensland state team and will travel to melbourne in october, congradulations Mark.Well we still have had no rain ,there is no green to be seen ,it is very depressing ,thankfully we can still buy feed for the horses ,we are still carting water,i guess it could be worse...we have 3 foals due in the next 2 months ,unsure if we will rebread the mares this year, due to the drought ,although the foals can be sold interstate easily for extra money ,Dave has been working lots and i feel like i am not pulling my weight ,just sitting around with steven all day but what else can i do ??? i try and do as many chores around the place so as dave just goes to work, its hard ,so hard lots of love julie

Wednesday, May 23, 2007 8:08 PM CDT

Thursday, April 19, 2007 11:53 PM CDT

Hello Everyone I have Devastating news Steven will not be having a lung transplant ,the damage and scarring from the radiation is to severe and everywhere there is no way they can do a transplant ,the drs were very disappointed and upset that they could do nothing to help Steven,We have Steven at home ,he is on pallative care ,he is still very bright ,but not able to go to school as hes breathing is getting very laboured and i feel he would be better if he stayed at home.we are enjoying the time he has left ,doing all the things he likes to do ,playing computer games ,watching videos and listening to music ,he is not in any pain or distress ,we have mediction on hand for when we need it .the drs cant give us a time frame ,they just say it depends on steven and hes will to be here ,and wether or not he gets sick with some sort of virus or cold.
I have not taken this news very well,i guess i was hoping for a miracle, lots of love julie and family .. still no rain..

Thursday, March 29, 2007 11:24 PM CDT

hello everyone ,Steven and i have just got out of the Prince Charles Hospital after a 4 day stay for assesment for a lung transplant for Steven,we will not know anything untill 19th april ,the drs have to look at all of stevens test results and work out if steven would be able to have a transplant ,our stay was ok,it was not the same as the Mater childrens ,like we are use to ,but it was ok ,they did do a lot of test ,on steven >Blood ,MRI,Lung function ,x rays ,24hrs urine collection,we had phsio meetings nutritional meetings ,social workers ,physiciatrist,we were very busy,Steven has been started on some protein and calorie drinks as he is about 10 kg underweight ,which i knew ,but it has always been an uphill battle to keep the weight on steven ,but more so now as he is burning the calories of just by breathing ,he did extremly well in hospital and did not really complain much at all and was very good with all the test ,the drs had trouble finding a vein in hes arms and he was a pin cushion ,which did not go down very well with him(cant say i blame him).he has very bruised arms ,they ended up using an ultrasound to find hes vein for a cannula for he contrast for hes MRI.but he is at school today and seems to pretty happy today.no rain yet ...julie and family

Friday, February 23, 2007 3:06 PM CST

Hello everyone,Steven is going ok he seems a lot better some days than others ,he is still going to school ,they have been fantastic there i take him in the car and as soon as one of the children see us pull up they go straight over and get hes scooter for him ,he can only walk about 5 metres ,as he gets very puffed as if he has run a marathon.Steven is not in any pain as is still wanting and trying to do everything normally at the moment .We went and saw the transplant team ,Steven is still not on the list yet ( HE IS AN OLYMPIC ATHLETE COPARED TO THE CHILDREN WE ARE TRANPLANTING)the drs words,he did say that if we can keep steven well and he keeps deteriorating when he needs a transplant they will do it.So this is great news we just hope that is how it will work out,Steven is going to have a 2 day stay in the transplant hospital for a full assessment with them soon ,just waiting for them to ring. The drought is crippling us and all around us we have sold most of our cattle and a few horses, the dams have been empty for 18 months and we have been carting water for the rest of ths stock, soon it will be for the house also as we are on the last of our tank water ,pray for rain soon love julie david mark and steven

Monday, February 5, 2007 9:49 PM CST

hello everyone ,steven is on pallative care now,we have just had 12 days in hospital fighting a very bad chest infection and while we were in he was reaccessed, hes vpap machine was increased and oxygen was added for when he is asleep at night and they cannot increase it anymore.Steven has been very strong and brave and has insisted that he wants to keep going to school for as long as he can ,he is there today,he missed the first week of school after the christmas holidays as we were in hospital, but we came home yesterday and he wanted to go today,he is 1 brave and strong little man,i am writimg this through my tears,i feel that we have very limited time left with steven ,i have given away work and will spend my time solely devoted to steven and my family,we have an appoitment with the transplant team on thursday this week hopefully they will put us on the list for a transplant now that steven has declined in hes health.i will keep you updated when i can thank you and best wishes to you all love julie ,david mark and steven

Thursday, December 28, 2006 2:26 PM CST

Merry Christmas and have a happy new year, our xmas was quiet but very nice and relaxing ,the boys are both on holidays and enjoying them very much ,the transplant team has excepted Steven as a patient ,but get this ....he is not sick enough for a transplant yet ???? no i do understand .He will get reevaluated in febuary and they are keeping a close eye on him till then ,so there is a small light at the end of this tunnel that we are in ,i have to go now but i hope you all had a wonderful xmas ,i will keep you updated love julie and family

Wednesday, November 29, 2006 7:27 PM CST

Hello everyone i am sorry for the delay in updates but i have been having trouble with coming to terms of stevens condition,i must thank you all for your well wishes and thoughts and prayers.the emails and phone calls have been incredible ,i often wondered if anybody was reading this site very often .Where to begin ...Firstly Steven has been very positive which worries me a lot but i guess that it is better being all down and out .Steven has been well, although he cannot phsically run and play he is happy,he told me the other night he dreams that he is running and playing tiggy with other kids .The school steven goes to has been incredible ,it is a small school of about 80 students and they have been great stevens teacher organised to buy an electric scooter for steven to get around on at school which has been terrific,Steven had chest xray and ultrasound on tues ,no sign of cancer ,we also had an endocrinolgy app to check on growth, steven is not growing at the moment, curving of the spine,he will have some bone checks over the next few months to see what we can do for this. Our biggest problem that Steven is facing is hes lungs, hes lung function has finally stopped declining but it really could not get to much worse and still have him with us.He is tolerating the vpap machine and mask fo sleeping alot better than i think i could. What steven needs really is a lung transplant, lots of negatives on that one,we are waiting for the transplant team to organise an appointment for steven so he can be assessed to see if they will except him as a patient .lots of risks and i dont know if it is the right thing to do ,steven is starting to have so many side effects from all the treatment he has had, quality of life is starting to ???me.Dont get me wrong i love steven ,and i do not want to let him die ,but i also do not want him to suffer any more.Steven is happy at the moment and is looking forward to xmas,(and presents) best wishes to you all lots of love Julie,David ,Mark and Steven ..

Friday, September 8, 2006 7:05 PM CDT

Hello everyone ,i am updateing today with very bad news stevens lungs have continued to get worse the drs have told us he will not be able to survive, they have put him on a vpap machine for night time sleeping ,he is now very restricted in what he can do.he gets very breathless in just about every thing he does ,this has been very devastating news to us all ,the cure is going to be stevens worst enemy, steven did have xrays and ultrasound last week and there is no cancer anywhere, but this does not really matter now .The respritory team has given steven approx 18 months ,but i feel the way that he has been ,i feel that we have less time with steven than that.we are all trying to cope with this the best way that we can ,we are going to try and keep things as normal as possible for as long as we can .Steven has been very grown up about this news,he has always wanted a puppy so we went out and got a puppy last week for him ,it has been a great distraction for him and great company, photos later thank you all for your well wishes love julie and david and mark and steven

Tuesday, May 23, 2006 8:42 PM CDT

hello everyone ,happy birthday steven ,he is now 11 years old ,i never thought he would make it after originally being diagnosed when he was 4 years old and having another 2 more fights with this cancer ,i didnt think he would make it ,we still have a lot of hurdles to jump but i am looking forward for the first time in along time .he amazes me every day,hes health has been very ordinary latley he still continues to cough alot, more so when he tries to be active which is very sad for him ,we now have another hurdle to jump, the steriods that steven has been onare now starting to affect hes bones (osteopersis) so it is of to another specilist soon to see what we can do for that ,it just keeps on getting better!!!!!never mind he is still with us and happy and that is a blessing .hes brother mark is going great guns with soccer this year, selected for teams everywhere,so it seems to be keeping us very busy,he has also been selected for the queensland footsel team (indoor soccer ),so he is over the moon and cant wait to go to sydney in september .time to go and get the birthday boys cake ready best wishes julie

Tuesday, May 2, 2006 8:29 PM CDT

hello everyone.stevens ports have been removed, and hes broncoscopy has been done all went very smoothly ,i was worried sick thank goodness it is all over ,steven was amazing he was so brave,he has had a week of laying around and playing computer and watching videos ,so now he has gone back to school today .he is still a little sore but not to bad ,one good thing from this is he does not seem to be coughing as much since the surgery ??? dont really know why,we go back to see the respritory team in 4 weeks ,untill then he stays on steroids .i must say that i had forgotten how horrible it is to be in hospital again,as we stayed overnight because steven was the last on the surgery list for that day and they wanted to keep an eye on him after he woke up ,due to hes very bad lungs .
I did catch up with some of the nurses that use to look after us so that was nice......oh yes and by the way hes test for any cancer anywhere IE chest xray and ultrasound where all clear. best wishes from steven and hes famliy from aussie land ...

Sunday, April 9, 2006 7:38 PM CDT

Easter greetings to you all,Steven has been ok he is still on hes steroids for hes lungs and hes lung functions are stable at the moment the only problem is he cannot stay on the steroids forever he still coughs alot and hes lung function test have not improved but they have not fallen which is good ,we do physio twice a day special breathing exercises through a pep mask.Steven has hes ports removed on the 27th april and a broncoscopy to check what is going on in hes lungs,i must confess i am ver worried. They say that hes lung fuction is good enough to have surgery but i am still worried ,steven will have an ultrasound and chest xray the day before as part of hes 4 month cancer check and also another lung function to confirm we have a go ahead, the ports 1 double and 1 single on the other side of hes chest have not been used for over 18 months so they are well and truly overdue to come out,but this will be a very upsetting time for us all,my heartfelt wishes go out to Brooks family today as i have just read that she has lost her fight over this dreadfull cancer ,will update again after surgery best wishes julie and family

Tuesday, January 17, 2006 0:32 AM CST

hello everyone, christmas is all over for another year,i cant believe how it has come and gone all ready.steven has been going very well on hes steroids for hes lungs,he has not really been coughing at all,he has a lot more energy and has been doing things he has not done for ages.steven had xrays and ultrasound last week to check for any signs of cancer and the results were clear, thank goodness,he has to be on the steroids for a bit longer yet for hes lung function ,but that has also slowly started to get better.on the home front things are also looking up with plenty of rain we have now got full dams and plenty of green grass for the horses, which has been terrific for the finances, the boys are still on holidays untill the 21st of january, and they have been enjoying the time of from school,Mark goes to high school this year so that will be interesting ,i dont seem to get time to leave messages on your websites much anymore ,but please believe me ,i do check in on you all ,all the time best wishes to you all for 2006 and i will update again soon julie and family

Thursday, December 29, 2005 4:34 AM CST

Merry christmas to you all ,i am sorry i am a little late but the computers modem decided to not work from christmas eve and with all the shops closed ,today has been the first day i have had it back ,well Steven had another lung function done the week before xmas and it had continued to drop so they finally decided to try and do something about it after they now tell me it is extremly grim, they have proceeded to put him on steroids and a type f antibiotic that is also an anti infammatory,he has since improved incredibly hes ,lung function has picked up slightly in only 10 days on treatment ,they are not sure how long at this stage he will be on them ,but from what i can guess a while, anyway ther has been some good side effects ...STEVEN IS HUNGRY he is eating us out of house and home it is so good to hear him say that he is hungry after 5 years of trying to get him to eat now i cannot seem to fill him he has put on 2 kilo ,he will get too fat if we are not carefull but at the moment he has a lot of catching up to do so i am not really worried about that yet.christmas was quiet but very good ,the boys had a fantastic time, they are away at the moment at there dads house and are having a ball ,best wishes to you all for the new year lots of love from julie and family .

Tuesday, November 22, 2005 8:33 PM CST

hello to everyone ,sorry about the lul in updates,i really dont have an excuse apart from the fact that each time i do go to do an update i spend hours checking in on everybody and by the time i go to do stevens update i have to go and do other things ,anyway things have been ok, steven has had a few ups and downs he has had a few heavy colds ,and has dropped weight on each occasion ,each time i just get some weight on him he seems to get sick and looses the weight again ,you could say he is not thriving .He is getting taller and thinner he seems to put everything at the moment into height ,well i hope that is all it is no more check ups till january.he has been going to lung function tests each month which have awfull results. He does do a lot of coughing and the drs dont seem to give me any great answers.WE have put steven back on NONI juice and since then he does seem to be a bit better.apart from that things are very quite,no soccer at the moment, it is nice to have a break, school finishes in 14days for 6 weeks ,then Mark hits high school.anyway that is all for now best wishes to you all julie and family

hello everyone ,steven has just had hes scans and ultasound done and everything is clear again thank goodness ,he has been doing great he still has hes cough first thing in the morning and if he runs around to much but apart from that he is doing great ,he does drink hes 2 cal every night just to keep hes weight up but that is the only thing he is on at the moment, the dr was very pleased with how he looks and there will be no scans till august as for other things Mark (stevens brother) got elected school captain which was fantastic ,he is also going great at soccer with getting selected for the district team,so there is a lot happening at the moment sport wise. The weather has been very dry we have not had any rain for the past 12 months ,our dams are dry and we are now buying water for the stock and ourselves, which is a little grim..but i am sure it will rain again ,one day i have sort of forgotten what green grass looks like but apart form that our lives have been very busy and full of fun and things are starting to feel a little normal(which does scare me)bye for now best wishes to you all love julie and family

Tuesday, January 11, 2005 5:06 PM CST

Hello everyone MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR,i have been postponing saying that untill Steven got his scans done and i have just heard from his Doctors only a few moments ago that STEVENS SCANS from MONDAY ARE CLEAR he still has a lot of scarring on his lungs but there is no signs of any tumours which has just made us all extremly happy ,he does will not be having any more now till APRIL.At the moment they are on school holidays and are enjoying the time off from school, they are currently out on the boat fishing with there father and having a wonderful time ,i am currently home doing the mundane house chores as today is my day of work.I have been working 3 days a week and that is well and truly enough,i hope all is well with whoever reads this update and i will talk to you all again soon and sorry about the delay in updating but i did want to update with good news BYE for now

Saturday, November 20, 2004 6:52 PM CST

hello everyone,Steven has been doing ok,when i say that i really do mean just ok,he has been coughing a lot more latley, which i am very concerned about,he has also been sick ,he had severe Tonsitis which really knocked him about and then he had about 3 good days ,he got some stomach bug which had him running to the toilet every 10 minutes for about 5 days.So needless to say he is looking rather terrible he has lost all the weight he has gained and now looks like he is a skeleton again.I am wondering if it is such a good idea for him to be swimming in the public pool with all the other kids ,maybe hes immunity is still not great, this is a sham because he has been enjoying the swimming, but i cant have him being sick like this all the time...it has started to warm up here quickly and the boys are really enjoying the longer days.we did get some rain ,so that was a bit of a relief as we were getting very desperate for some.I have just spent 3 hours reading everyones sites, and checking up on everyone,so i better go ,Dave is now in bed ,sick with Stevens tummy bug.i better go bye for now julie

Thursday, September 30, 2004 3:57 AM CDT

hello everyone ,sorry for the delay,Stevens scan looks good, there is still a lot of scarring to his lungs (hence the cough),but things are good, steven has been very well also.the scans are a little inconclusive because of all the scarring but they are fairly sure things are ok..thank goodness,i have been a mess ,thank you for all the well wishes i have been having lots of trouble getting into some of your sights to leave messages ,but believe me when i say i check on you all ,all the time .on a different note Marks soccer team one there grand final and mark got outstanding player for the team and the club,i am so proud,he has been so good through all of hes brothers treatment and has put up with so much it is great that he is now getting some attention. The boys are on 2 weeks holidays at the moment and are having the time of there lives it is great to see them both well.I sign the boys up on monday for swimming club,so hopefully this will help stevens lung function,it will be nice to have them both in the pool this year to cool of.best wishes to you all lots of love julieand family..new photos soon

hello everyone,i am sorry about no updates i did not realise that it had been a month, steven has been well apart from a short bout of a sore throat that was cleared up quickly with some antibiotics.he still has hes cough but it still only in the morning or if he runs around alot,he does seem to be doing more running around which is good.not to much else has been happening we did get alittle rain which was good.we also had our first foal of the season arrive, which was great.the boys were very excited to see the new arrival as we have not had many foals in recent years ,what with stevens treatment.one down only 4 more to go,we are looking forward to more rain and good times ,the weather is starting to warm up and i cant wait.Steven does have to go to the hosp on the 20th sept for a ct scan, which i am already getting worried about i hate this time, anyway to soon to get to worried about it yet,i hope everyone is well best wishes to you all lots of love julie and family

hello to everyone, things have been going great steven is well ,and so are we all . not a great deal happening,we do not have to go back to the hospital till sept ,which is great, and we are all just trying to live life normally, not that any of us really know what normal is ,it has been 4 1/2 years fighing this cancer and we do seem to be having a little bit of trouble getting into the swing of not going to the hospital.Steven is just living life to the full, which is just fantastic. He still has hes cough ,but it does seem to be only in the morning for about the first hour of being awake then after that it is only an occasional cough.Mark soccer team had a draw on sat,but they are still equal on 1st,he is very excited and looking forward to the finals. Our winter over here is just about gone,as it is starting to warm up a little already ,unfortunatly we have had no rain and things are looking a little grim we have been buying water every 2 weeks.our dams are getting very low for the stock, well i will sign of now best wishes to you all ,lot of luv julie and family...

Sunday, July 18, 2004 10:30 PM CDT

hello everyone,we have just finished 2 busy weeks of school holidays,we had lots of fun and lots of visitors.steven has been very well and has just reached the 30 kilos in weight ,a weight we have been trying to reach for some time,he has been eating well and has been full of energy,he is often the first awake and last asleep. We had a visit to phsio on wed and they basiclly said to get him out running around and hopefully hes lungs will function better with working harder.we will see..he does cough but it does seem to be mostly in the morning when he first wakes up,it has been cold here and they think he should improve when summer rolls around and he can be outside running around more and swimming.Mark has been playing soccer and hes team is going great guns they are 2nd on the ladder and seem to be playing very well.I am now going to work 3 days a week, which i think is more than enough with everything else that i need to do ,i dont really know how i used to do it.David is still working hard 6 days a week, hoping to cut that back to 5 now that i am doing more..best wishes julie and family...

Saturday, June 26, 2004 2:48 AM CDT

hello everyone,i hope you are all great, things have not been to bad here,i did say in my last entry that stevens cough did seem to be a little better ,well that was short lived,he has been coughing a lot and no wonder hes lung function test showed hes lungs are only working at 40 percent of what they should be and the asthma medication is not doing anything except mabe making things worse.we do have a positive thing to report STEVENS CT SCAN ON MONDAY HAS NO SIGNS OF TUMOURS ONLY SCARRING THEY THINK.. we are alittle bit more sure that it is scarring on hes lungs as it appears to be shrinking slightly and if it was tumours they would now be huge.there was 1 new lesion but that also appears to look like scarring from the radiation.things have not got much better weather wise cold and dry no rain,we had to buy water this week .Marks soccer team has won the last 2 weeks games and they seem to be playing well at the moment,THIS IS A SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR KATE AND GRACE OLSEN ,HAVE BEEN TRYING TO LEAVE MESSAGE ON YOU SITE BUT CANT OPEN YOUR GUESTBOOK FOR SOME REASON BUT I WILL KEEP ON TRYING BEST WISHES TO YOU..i do read and check up on everyone each week but i dont always have time to leave messages ,i hope you are all well best wishes to you all love julie and family....

Sunday, June 6, 2004 11:45 PM CDT

hello everyone we are all doing well steven does not seem to be coughing as much as he has been and even seems to be able to run around a bit more without starting to cough so that is great,we have had friends down over the weekend staying with us and he has been very well all weekend ,lets hope he stays well for hes lung fuction test on thursday,Marks soccer team won again on the weekend with a 7- 1 win mark scoring 2 goals ,which was just great. The weather has been alittle ordinary with very overcast days and wind and cold nights ,so we have had the fire going a fair bit, still no rain and everything is starting to brown off and dry out very quickly ,our tanks for our rainwater are getting very low also,so lets hope we get some rain out of these very overcast days soon.thats about it for today i shall update again next week best wishes to you all love julie

Sunday, May 30, 2004 11:34 PM CDT

hello everyone ,steven did just have a 24hr virus and is now well,he still has hes cough but i dont really expect that to ever go.we have an appointment with the specialst on 10th june ,so we will see what they can do ..marks soccer is going great hes team won on sat 3-2 mark scored 1 goal.we now have training 3 nights a week as mark made it into the zone team and training is every monday night.so needless to say our lives are now dictated by soccer, well it is better than being dictated by the hospital and stevens treatments.Steven is going great he is still on hes 2 cal to help him put weight on ,so we will see if it is working on our next visit to hospital.David and i have been still very busy doing fencing.Thankyou for stopping by,please sign the guestbook we love reading the entries, bye for now julie

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVEN....wow what a birthday party ,lots of freinds and presents and food and fun . we had a great weekend.today is hes birthday and i have just had to pick him up from school with a fever ,what a bummer on your birthday,a lot of the children at the school have a stomach fever bug and it looks as though it has finally found steven he is at the moment resting in bed watching hes new tv and dvd player he got from us for hes birthday,he does not seem to be too sick at the moment.I just hope he shakes this bug quickly.Mark had soccer on sat morning and hes team won 1-0.the under 13 team then asked if Mark could play for them as they were down players ,he did and he scored 3 goals and they won 6-0 ,Mark was thrilled.we had a very busy weekend and it was just fantastic ,hoping and praying for many more.best wishes to you all luv julie

Sunday, May 16, 2004 3:11 AM CDT

hello everyone, the hospital visit was long all day we arrived and had the lung function test, the results were very bad stevens lung have suffered a lot of damage ,they are not working very well at all,but the good news is that they think alot of the bad results are due to the heavy cold and asthma that he had last week .so we have another heap of medications that he needs to have over the next few weeks and another lung function test in june and a appointment with the lung specialists ,the bad news about the day is that steven has lost more weight (which i knew) so we are going to start him on a special drink called 2 cal,it has 2 calories per ml ,none for me thanks..i only hope it tastes ok and he drinks it without to much of a fight.i think he will he was also disappointed that he had lost weight,he does try, anywat on a lighter note STEVENS BIRTHDAY IS 24 TH MAY and we are having a big party,i did not ever think he would get to 9.so we have a lot to celebrate.well wishes to you all and i did read on a few other wilms tumour children sites that they were also having birthdays in May so HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you also, best wishes to you all luv julie

happy mothers day to you all,we had a great day,i did not really get asleep in as the boys were to excited to give me the presents that they had got for me ,which were lovely.I did however had a lye in and did nothing all morning,we then had a lovely day out at the Rathdoney heritage festival,it was great and it was lovely and sunny. There was so much to see and do ,sheepdog trials, campdrafting heritage cars and motorbikes a parade, bullock teams, old wagons, woodchipping lots of craft market stalls, and lots of money spent, but a great day.Stevens cold did get worse and we had a drive to the hospital on friday,a chest xray and bloods and antibiotics and he is much better tonight ,still of hes food but that is not unusual,he is very skinny at the moment, hopefully he can have a run of good health so he can pick up.He still has not slowed down though, which is great to see.well it is time for bed and i am feeling very tired tonight best wishes to you all and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY...LUV JULIE

hello everyone ,sorry for not updating but our computer was in the shop getting an overhaul and a nasty virus taken of it ..I had forgotten to update our virus protection.Steven is going great guns ,he is just as a normal boy should be ,he does have a bit of a cough that hangs around a bit when he first wakes up but that is all he is still very skinny but i think that he always will be .I have just finished reading everybodies easter wishes and HAPPY BELATED EASTER TO YOU ALL..Mark had hes first game of soccer today for the season ,and they one 8 -o.mark scored 3 goals and was over the moon.we dont know yet when we have to go back to the hospital, but we are enjoying the break away. The weather is starting to cool down ,the days have been beautiful autumn days, but the nights are getting a little freash ,we even lit the fire the other night ,not because it was that cold ,just beacause the boys wanted to see it going, this is the first time we have had a fireplace.i will sign of now and i have checked up on you all.best wishes to you all julie

Friday, March 26, 2004 4:02 PM CST

hello everyone,i will start by saying thank you to all the people who left well wishes ,lets get to it ..Stevens scan does appear to be ok ,,,,they think....he has had so much chemo and radiation that there is alot of changes going on in hes lungs and elsewhere it is a little bit hard for them to tell, and im not really prepared for them to do any biopsy on hes lungs ,which was sort of mentioned that this maybe an option to find out for sure..im sorry but steven is only just beginning to really enjoy life away from hospital for the first time in 4 years.i dont really want to upset him if it is not necessary and really do i want to know ..he has alot of fuzzy stuff on hes lungs and scarring from surgery they feel the fuzzy stuff is scarring from radiation they are going to referr to some specilists to check..and we are also going to get an appointment to see a lung specialist to get a base line of stevens lung function as they think it is going to diminish a fair bit..STEVEN is great at the moment and has a freind staying over for the weekend.thats all for now and thank you again for your well wishes julie

Friday, March 19, 2004 5:56 AM CST

hello everyone, not all that much happening this week just school for the boys work for david and for me 2 days work and the rest of the week has been shopping and housework, we have been working on the fencing every afternoon that we could this week ,so that has kept us a little busy.As for Steven he had a bout of tonsilitis this week and has been on a/biotics ,he picked up very quickly ,which was great. He seems just about back to hes old self, but i must admit it was strange to take him to the doctors for something (normal) ????? anyway bye for now best wishes to you all julie.....

Sunday, February 22, 2004 5:36 PM CST

hello everyone we have just been through the hottest day every reaching 45degrees but in the sun my thermometre said in the sun it was 58degrees,we kept cool by being in the dam,we did get a terrific storm in the afternoon which cooled everything down and gave us some much needed rain.TOday is another scorcher and i have just dropped the boys at school and it is already hot,i posted a new photo on the home page it was taken on the first day of school (new school) which was about 4 weeks ago now.steven is fine at the moment i would not say he is full of energy ,but i think the heat is keeping him alittle quiet.well thats all for now best wishes to you all julie...

Tuesday, February 17, 2004 5:04 PM CST

hello everyone,i was very saddened this morning to read that we have lost another wilms tumour fighting young man .hes name is Brock and i have been praying that the different chemotherapy trials that he has been trialing would pull this young man through, but unfortunatly he lost hes fight.I follow the lives of these children ,and i send out my best wishes to you all and i send my condolences to brocks family. As for us we have been going just fine ,no complaints really, the boys have been coming home from school each day and going down to the dam with the neighbours children for a swim each day, then they have been coming back down to the house and helping me clean up the gardens, they have been a great help,(steven has even been helping)and for those of you who know steven that is big ..he is so lazy..not sick ..lazy..anyway bye for now best wishes to you all julie...

hello everyone ,well we have just had the hottest week in record i think, the boys and i spent all week in the local pools. While poor Dave was at work slogging it out.Steven has been a little flat since coming back from hes dads and has lost some weight i hope it is not hes cancer returning,
anyway he looks a little bit better after being home this week, but they have gone again ,their father picked them up yesterday to go to canberra to see their grandparents down there.so this week i dont really know what i will do.the old house settles with its sale on thursday so i think i will go there for a couple of days and do any last minute cleaning up.I am starting to get the panics up about stevens scan its only a week away. 19th. anyway thats it for now best wishes julie

Tuesday, January 6, 2004 4:43 PM CST

hello everyone i hope you all had a great xmas and new year.My boys are home and we went to the movies yesterday and saw Master and commander ,a very good movie a little brutal for steven so we just had a bit of a cuddle in a couple of spots ,but i did tell them i thought it would be like that but ,there is no telling them, any way today we are going to try out the local swimming pool which is at rathdowney, only about 10 min drive away.It is so hot here at the moment it is just awful,to hot to do anything. The boys spent all afternoon down at our dam yesterday after we got home from the movies and they had a ball came back with mud all over them.We had a barbeque last night outside in the cool it was just to hot in the house.Mark and steven are very well at the moment, and are enjoying the school holidays .Time to go and cool of in the water now as it is only about 9 in the morning and already 35 degrees i think the only place for today is to be wet in a pool.best wishes julie

hello everyone well it is the day before christmas and the boys sure are excited.i cannot remember them being this excited for many years. We went to the hospital today just visiting, our friend Jayden who has AML has come out of remission and is not expected to live very long so the boys and i decided to pay him a visit .They had a great time and i think the best part about it for steven was that he didnt get anything done.we had to p/u some EMLA AND CONTRAST for hes ct scan which is scheduled for 19th january (not looking forward to that),but at the moment i am trying not to think about it and just enjoy the way he is at the moment .he is enjoying every minute of hes life .the new house the new pup (yes new pup ) was not really got for steven but he seems to have taken it over.well bye for now have to get ready for santa to come put out the cake and milk and the carrots for reindeers.I hope everyone has a merry christmas and for those who are still fighting try and have a merry christmas, best wishes to you all and i am praying for you all....

Sunday, December 14, 2003 3:10 PM CST

hello everybody well the move is done, thank goodness.it is so beautiful out here so quiet except for the crows which seem to enjoy waking me up very early each morning. Every thing seems to be coming into place , we took the boys down to the dam for a swim yesterday morning and they had a ball.school holidays are here and the boys are starting to get into the swing of sleeping in and staying up late.Steven seems to have shaken hes cold off (almost) he still has a bit of a cough though, hopefully that is nothing.Mark has woken up this morning with a bit of an upset stomach, but im sure he will be fine ,anyway wishing you all well, and thank you for all your best wishes.bye for now ,julie

Wednesday, December 3, 2003 5:20 PM CST

hello everybody well it is a very wet day here in queensland ,australia .I just got back from driving the boys to school, they usually catch the bus but they wanted me to drive them as it was so wet.Steven has been great untill this morning when he has woken up with the start of a cold ,hopefully it wont turn into anything serious. i am trying to get some photos on the site but i am having some trouble with that and seeing i am only learning with a computer this may take some time so please bear with me.our big move is happening over the next week,so it is a little crazy around here a t the moment with most of the house packed up in boxes ,the boys of course are not looking forward to chaging schools and losing all there friends.but i think they will like there new school very much.well i think thats it for now ,best wishes to everyone who is fighting cancer and to their families.

Thursday, November 27, 2003 10:59 PM CST

hello everybody ,Steven is going terrific,we had a check up with hes oncologist on wed and he was amazed at how well he was, although when you think about it ,this is the longest time he has been of chemo for nearly 2 years. Both mark and steven are playing harder than they have for ages.bye for now ...

Monday, November 24, 2003 10:16 PM CST

STEVEN went through treatment extremley well we had lots of transfusion of platlets and blood and many admissions for high fevers and infections.1 bout of the shingles after high dose chemo, but all in all he went very well ,he then had 10 days of radiation to hes lungs he finished treatment in september 2003.so that is about were we are up to ,Steven had a ct scan 2 weeks ago which was clear.HE is bouncing out of hes skin at the moment the best i have seen him for about 2 years.

Monday, November 24, 2003 9:35 PM CST

hello and welcome to stevens webpage,we probably should have set this a long time ago.And now for a little history STEVEN was originally diagnosed with wilms tumour in feb 2000 after many months of misdiagnosis.Steven has been extremly courageous throughout it all.Steven was diagnosed with favourable stage 2 wilms tumour, had 6weeks chemo then surgery to remove hes right kidney which was from horseshoe kidneys,he then had 10 more months of chemo.he was in remission, then 10 months later in october 2001 he was diagnosed again on a routine scan it was everywhere rapped around bowel ,hes aorta and metastises on hes liver, again we attacked it with chemo, surgery was an exploratory surgery to see if there was any thing that could be removed ,but no was the answer ,so we had to rely on the chemo working ,which it did no signs of anything . he had 6 months chemo and 3 weeks of radiation to hes whole abdomen, nothing was there once again.Stevens remission was short lived he again relapsed just 4months after finishing radiation.November 2002 he was rediagnosed ,it was in hes lungs this time .2 tumours ,surgery was performed to remove them ,then chemo was started 6 months of heavy chemo and 1 high dose with stem cell recovery.
