Journal

Hi everyone!

I wanted to pop on quick to share an update. Yesterday my dad had a day of feeling great, and sent this sweet text to the family:

“I walked from our house to my physical therapy appointment at the building across the street from Abbott (about 13 blocks!) Then I went home deciding to take the D-line bus and a nice lady taught me how to use the new bus system. As I approached my home stop i decided to stay on the bus and take it all the way downtown. after I did that I got off in front of the Candyland store. Decided to get some popcorn to share. And then I walked by the TLI office and decided to go up to greet people and brought some popcorn to share with them. I hadn’t personally been in the TLI building since last October. Then I took the bus home after getting some pad Thai street food on Nicollet Avenue. I am now resting and recovering, feeling quite pleased with my day so far. I hope you are all having a good day. I have felt better than normal yesterday. Continue to feel that way today.  I wonder if this is what the new normal might feel like. It’s been a good day. Thank you for all your prayers.”

We are praising Jesus for an uplifting and happy day, as the majority are still hard. He goes in for his 9th round of chemo today (potentially his 2nd to last if they decide to stop after 10 rounds) so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

My dad is also starting to search for a functional bike for his post-chemo days as that sounds like his preferred way to get around town this summer. We are going to start looking on Facebook marketplace. If you have any leads please reach out to him! These are some of the things he’s looking for:
- under $300
- typical 5-10 speed
- thicker tires (wanted to clarify that he isn’t planning on off roading or mountain biking, just getting around town 🙂)
- higher handle bars so he doesn’t have to bend over as much
- does not need to be pretty, but functional and comfortable.

We are hopeful that the days ahead will start to feel easier and brighter. Thank you for your continued prayers!
