Wow it's been a busy almost two months!

Since we last updated Steve came back home for treatment. He has been doing Chemo continually for the last two months. The biggest concern when we dropped from the clinical trial at the Mayo was the tumor on his Kidney. Steve (and Cathy) met with another Dr. who recommended Steve try an ablation on his Kidney. She felt that aside from removing the Kidney this was his safest option. She was upfront in letting us know that the ablation would not remove the whole tumor (it was too big for that) but hopefully it would reduce its size so he could safely do radiation on the rest of it. On Tuesday, May 7 Steve had that procedure and they manage to freeze a little more than they had originally thought! This was some good news!

This week he had another round of scans. For the most part Steve's cancer remains stable. The tumors in his lung and lymph nodes are unchanged. It was too soon after his ablation to tell if that procedure worked so nothing to report on his kidney. He does have some cysts in his pancreas that they are continuing to watch. Unfortunately the tumors in his brain are starting to grow again.  Not a lot of growth yet, but enough for some concern. Steve is being referred back to the Radiologist in St. Cloud that did the pin point Radiation back in September. Hopefully that Dr. will be able to help slow the growth. The other big issue Steve is facing is his weight. Despite Cathy's efforts to get him to eat more Steve just has no appetite or desire to eat. He has lost quite a bit of weight. He was told today that if he doesn't gain or at the very least maintain his current weight they will stop giving him Chemo treatment. It will no longer be up to him. So if you talk to Steve in the near future maybe help Cathy out and remind him to eat something (anything even candy bars are acceptable at this point!). It will probably be about 3 months before they do another scan unless something comes up before then. We'll post again once we hear from the Radiologists with the plan for the brain and maybe the kidney.

For now Steve remains in fairly good spirits, but needs encouragement to eat and move a little more than he is! Thank you all for your continued prayers. We are very grateful! ❤️
