It is wonderful to have Sharon home. She is glad to be here (and out of the hospital!) and we are settling into new routines and support.
Sharon now has home hospice care - including home visits with a nurse, a 24-7 nurse on call, and the equipment we need at home to keep Sharon as comfortable as possible. She is not in very much pain, which is a relief
These days she is in bed all of the time, mostly resting. She does not have much feeling in her legs, most likely from a lesion pressing on a nerve.
When it became clear that we were going to need a home health aide, Danny reached out to the woman who had helped his mother, Edna, about 15 years ago. Danny had stayed in touch with Joy over the years - and when he spoke with her about this situation - miraculously, she was available! Joy travels from way out in Queens to be here every day with Sharon. She is an amazing source of knowledge, expertise, and support. We are really grateful for Joy.
And, the kids have had a couple of short masked visits with Sharon - which is very sweet for all. On Tuesday, Anya suggested that we squeeze Grandma some orange juice - and it was a big hit with Sharon. So now, Anya has been making Grandma a little fresh-squeezed orange juice and crepes each day. <3
Thanks for all the love. Sharon feels it - we all do.
