Sign In to Show Your SupportHey guys, its been a while since I posted an update. It has been one busy month.
Mom was released from the hospital, and she continued physical therapy and home health. She finally was able to get out of the house using a walker and she went on a cute breakfast date to the local farmers market. It was a relief for her to feel some what normal and breathe the summer air.
My mom has undergone a total of 3 chemotherapy sessions (about to have #4 this week), 2 radiation sessions with a total of 15 days of radiation. Most days she is very tired and feeling pain in the tumor areas. She has 1 – 2 vitamin/immunotherapy IV drips a week to help with all the side effects.
Our family was however, able to travel to southern California to help Casey move into college! This was something mom did not want to give up, and she was a tough cookie making her way down South. She was relieved she was able to be there and help even if it was in a small way from the wheelchair.
She has had some relief in the upper back area from pain and no longer has pain in her shoulder at all! The MRI from September showed that the upper tumor has shrank, but the lower spine area was not as successful. 3 of her vertebrates in the lower spine have collapsed. Doctor's are recommending more radiation which in hopes will help ease the pain which will help her walk more easily.
Her next step will be to have a PET scan on September 23, in hopes to show more improvement throughout her body. This will also prove to be a scan that Doctor's will be able to compare future scans to.
